Coffee and Avo toast (weird spice on top!)
    Matthew D.

Cute and busy roadside cafe bar. They have a variety of coffees and pastries, and a limited food menu of mostly toasts and salad. There is outdoor seating, and a small indoor stand up bar. Fast service. Avocado toast was good. They put some pretty intense spice on it; which was unusual. It would have been better if the limes actually squeezed out onto the toast - they were old limes and didn't squeeze. I even asked for fresh lime but she said they didn't have any. Coffee was slightly sour.

Always reliable for a morning coffee at 6am great service and amazing coffee blend. Limited breakfast menu but it's a hole in the wall venue that specialises in coffee. Love this type of coffee venue in a big city. Worth a visit attached to a Sydney Icon the. Grace hotel. Good toasties too.

Definitely a fan of this place! Arguably one of the best, if not the best, coffee in CBD! (If there are better ones please PM me) There some outdoor seating areas for those quick meetings and catch ups and non take away drinkers, they also serve some sandwiches and salads for a quick feed. Otherwise, there's two stand up benches inside for those like me that don't want that paper cup taste with their coffee. But warning, it's quite stuffy inside, so if you choose to stand inside, you do need to bare the hotness. Very consistent with their coffee, tried their piccolo and affogato, next time will try their long black and macchiato. Extra notes for their affogato as they serve it differently to most places and the ice cream they use have a unique flavour to it which makes it stand out! Try for yourself!

Coffee: Mecca (Dark Horse Blend) Passion: 10/10 Crema: 10/10 (Top 10 in Sydney) Coming to a cafe and getting schooled on what a coffee can do in the right hands is a wonderful thing. Having tried the Colombian single origin from Mecca before I made the mistake of bad mouthing it here, and was then delivered a fantastic coffee. Since then, I know that when I come here I'll be served by someone with the passion to squeeze the best out of the beans. Today I started with a El Salvador Grand Reserve espresso which, in the words of Shoji "just tastes like coffee". To be honest.... it did... It was robust, it was smooth, it was a whole lot of coffee, but it still kept something for the end. While not cutting through the aroma or the full body, as the flavours developed in the after-taste, a lighter, somewhat nuttier flavour appeared. Very enjoyable. I then grabbed the filter coffee of the day which was an Ethiopian Duromina. which started with an amazing spicy aroma, somewhat citrusy. As it opened up however, the flavour started to degenerate and leave a sour after-taste. While not a bad coffee, it was no where near as good as the El Sal. All up, this busy cafe is a brilliant representation of what Mecca beans can do. And by all accounts, that is a good thing indeed. N.B. There is #powerwhoring available inside towards the coffee bean display. No public WiFi available. Single origin coffees are always available

A nice place. The coffee they serve was good. It is a bit hard to get a seat during lunch time as the place is rather small. The staff was very attentive and friendly. The waiting time for food and drinks was not long. Will visit again.

The guys at Mecca on King street are the holly grail of dudes when it comes to a rich smooth macchiato, or a strong long black. They're have a true, undeniable passion for the brew, and know how to have fun too. Most of their clientele are business people, who sometimes hog the outdoor seating with their Latte's with skim, and their double iPad slash note book to the stars, which they just accidentally bought a blackberry stylus for. Crude, I know, but its been done. Overall these guys are good for their coffee, but not their overpriced and undersized sandwiches and pastries. It's always packed for lunch, but if you're after some great tasting sandwiches try to hit up little Vienna which is close by, more bang for your buck business people.

Ever wanted to be a cultural anthropologist in the same way as Margaret Mead? Look no further, my friend. Mecca Espresso is where corporate humans flock (not unlike pigeons) in order to get a taste - usually in a cup - of the good life that central Sydney has to offer. There's also the sun manifesting on each of the outdoor tables (all neatly positioned and separated by a barricade from the busy King St sidewalk), the always unrehearsed (who has the time?) and daily fashion show featuring anyone daring enough to walk by the horizontally-inclined, and the close proximity to every distraction in this world, bar what goes on in third world countries. A Sydney-ified equivalent to one of those sidewalk cafes in France (no offence intended whatsoever).

This seems to be a popular place with the local crowd on their way to work. Great cappuccino! I found the espresso a bit too sour though. Otherwise: friendly service, outdoor seating - albeit a bit noisy due to nearby street.

First impressions count, and GC had me at hello... That 'tash, is to curling what.... Curling is to the winter olympics. Awesome sauce! I fully expect moustache rides will be on the menu if business ever hits the skids. Alas, despite the gleeful charm of the curly coifed one, nothing short of an excellent coffee with character was going to make the all important lasting impression on me and sadly in that area GC disappoints. I gave GC the Soy Latte test and the Long Black test and it just doesn't measure up to other coffee in the area. I like strong coffee with complexity and GC just doesn't have that. It's not the worst but it is very weak despite using the same La Marzocco espresso machine (that Barista's rave about for ease of use) as other places in the area. The service at GC however is very good and to some people that's first priority. So if you aren't too fussy about your coffee and are looking for a smile and a spring in your step from an energetic soul then get your morning fix at GC, and start the day on a happy note.

We came in thinking it was just a coffee shop, but it's essentially a restaurant that also has a focus on coffee. They have a full bar and a window to the outside where you can order just coffee and tea to go. As for the interior it's dimly lit and sort of has romantic date night vibes. We essentially only ordered coffee and one person ordered a cake slice. The lychee cake was pretty good per my aunt. A couple people ordered the Coco Loco, which is basically an espresso martini on steroids with Nutella and something like a Ferrero Rocher. I ordered a latte and their Affogato. The latte was very smooth and BI is arguably one of the best I've ever had. Is the Affogato a cheat code because they use like a tiramisu ice cream? You could argue that case. You can also buy their blends of coffee beans, subject to availability. While the latte was very smooth, I can't say it was mind blowing but it was still pretty good.

I also reserve 4 and 5 star reviews for exceptional service with unforgettable dining experiences. The ambience is intimate but also noisy. I will say the coffee here and in Australia in general is some of the best coffee I've ever had. I ordered (2) espresso martinis, pancakes, and the sirloin steak breakfast with a side hashbrown. My pancakes were stone cold but I will say the aesthetics on it made it edible. The pistachio butter cream was to die for. My steak was ok ; for the price I simply just wanted more. I could be wrong but I doubt it was even 6oz. If you have this place on your radar be sure to make reservations. This goes for almost every restaurant in Sydney. My server was Cassie who was very personable and even gave us tips on what to watch out for dining in Sydney.
