I attended an event here, and the space itself is super cool. It's basically like someone just found a cobblestone street intersection and just put a roof over it. It's a huge indoor space with a ton of ambiance that seems like it'd have loads of potential. Logistically speaking, there were a few problems, and I'm not sure if it was the specific event I was at or the venue.
There was only one bar, which served as a major choke point as people were lining up in order to get drinks. To get to the bathrooms, you've got to surf through that whole crowd as the bathrooms are behind and to the left of where the bar was set up. The catered food also seems to come from the same hallway, so any tray that comes out is picked clean by all the people waiting at the bar and all the people trying to get to the bathroom. The bathrooms themselves were also organized real weird, making lining up and figure out what was and wasn't occupied inside sort of strange.
Anyway, that sort of stuff is easy to work out I suppose. And again, maybe the event I went to only had one bar and they can do multiple bars and food arrangements, who knows. If you're holding an event in Melbourne definitely consider this place, just make sure your overall logistics are on lock. read more
