So word of mouth and a 5 star yelp review sent me here, plus it's like a 5 minute drive/15 minute…read morewalk from my own house. I couldn't not go. I also dragged my whole family along for a sandwich lunch. Dennis of Bexley is an award winning butchers and deli, that USED to be in the village and then it moved to Bexley Park where all the new town houses are. The prices definitely reflect the area. Between us, we decided to go for broke and just ordered pretty much half the deli bar. The hot BLT sandwich, the bacon was LOVELY, not too salty either. The roast beef baguette could've have a little more horseradish on, and the baked pastries-bacon and cheese/lamb samosa could've had a a bit more cheese and a bit more spice respectively. The hot steak and cheese baguette is just value for money, if you're going to go, i highly recommend that! We spent the lunch hour in the rather posh seating area enjoying our sandwiches. If only the sandwiches had a bit more finesse, a little bit more extra care in making them. It would be perfect. I'll definitely be back because it's so close to home and because it's such a cute little place. Clientele, from builders to soccer mums to office people. The amount of land rovers driving in and out to get lunch from this place was surprising. They're doing pretty well for a butchers even if everyone is just heading to the deli bar (I didn't see anyone actually buying the raw meat..)

Always good food from various meats, cheese, pies, ready made meals, etc. Friendly staff always.read more

They have award-winning sausages made on site, and also cure their own bacon, and make up their own beef burgers. There's a variety of stuffed or marinated meat, good for the bbq in the summer or for roasting in the winter. They make sausage rolls and pasties, and it's pretty hard to resist when you walk by and smell that baking! They were happy to give me bones for a dog for no charge. Anything you want, they'll get in for you. There's a small selection of produce and chutneys, and some meat bagged up for the freezer. Oh, and there's cheese and ham, too. I may just start sleeping on the floor. And if you go in and say what you're making, they'll give you the right cut of meat and the right size, and then tell you how long to cook it. I think one of these days, they'll just follow me home and cook it up for me. The downside? It's expensive. But you're paying for quality and expertise, which you just don't get at a supermarket. They're open seven days a week, too.

I went in last night and there was one person already being served - the butcher had tenderised a piece of beef to order and was in the process of cutting it into strips for her. But that didn't mean I had to wait, as he called his colleague out from the back who was happy to assist. I was very pleased with both the service and the quality of the steaks I purchased. I'm a semi-regular here, although I tend to shop here more in the summer when buying for barbecues etc as they have a good range. They also make their own sausages - the pinner porker is great, and they even make pies, pasties and scotch eggs.

They specialize in game and the window is full of yummy looking homemade pies. I've yet to try one, but I'm betting they're delicious. The owners are really friendly and are diligently there, open early, every time I pop in to pick up sausages for a Saturday morning brunch. The sausages are really worth the trek up the hills...they have a brilliant variety-I highly recommend the chipolatas. In fact, they have everything you need for a really delicious breakfast...organic meat, bakery bread, free-range eggs and locally pressed apple juice....mmm, Archers is one of the establishments I miss most from my days living in Hanover. Every time I pop up to Archer's, there's a little queue of locals picking up milk or eggs, whilst enjoying a friendly chat with the proprietors. It's really refreshing to see an independent ethically-minded business being supported by its community! If you're an avid carnivore and want to know where your meat is coming from, this is the place for you.

However, just to add that they have received a 5 star award from the Brighton & Hove City Council which you do not see very often.
