This is the most UNPROFESSIONAL office....they never answer the phone, most of the staff is fairly rude, they let everyone hear your medical stuff, and most of all they will argue back and forth while people can hear and witness this....super unprofessional and possibly understaffed, overworked, and underpaid. If you have been surviving with this place, kudos to you. They will take a list of your medical problems, and bill for the highest paying thing even if they haven't been seeing you for it or treating you for it. If I could give a lower review I would. Not just based on my experience but myself and others that I personally know of that weren't pleasing either ONE BIT! Please get better compassionate and professional staff and a doctor who will listen and not disregard young patients as well but tends to any and all no matter what age, religion, race, or health issues. I hope this saves someone in advance because this place will make you feel worse mentally, emotionally, and physically. Dr Tafreshi was super nice and made me feel comfortable telling him my medical history just like talking to a friend. His staff was great in my opinion. Ben helped with my intake forms as a new patient and let me know how their process worked in their office. Him and Maria were very upfront with the estimated cost which was a relief to me. I hate having the surprise at the end of the visit since I don't currently have insurance. I was in and out really quickly and back to my day. I don't want to say I can't wait to go back because I hopefully won't have to anytime soon but I won't dread going to this office like I have with others. Thank you all! Per the automated system, this office opens at 9AM. I called the office at 9AM and got a paging service. I called back at 9:01 and got a service, 9:03, same service....I called until 9:04 and got a fax machine. I called right back and finally got someone to pick up the telephone. The hispanic woman that answered the phone said "yea, sorry I just rolled in". Sorry, I do not know what sort of doctors office staff uses those words to describe a late arrival. On top of that, she was extremely argumentative and didn't let me get two words in, nor did she listen to me when I was explaining the situation. I asked for her supervisor, which wasn't even in the office for another hour. I was referred from someone that is highly regarded. But, if this is how the office staff operates, I will not be bringing my family to this office. I followed up at 10AM, per Maria's information. I held for over 20 minutes for the office manager. The manager never picked up the phone, after 20 minutes. I called back and left a message for Dr. T. Considering that he came as a referral from his wife, I would hope he calls me back. Dr. Tafreshi's office isn't the prettiest or the newest or the nicest, but it has this warm feel to it. His entire staff from Jennifer to Maria to Suehey have always been kind, compassionate, friendly, and funny. A woman named Yvette in accounting is very rude and demanded payment for which my insurance always covers. Because of their mistake in billing, they've given me headaches! After going back and forth with my insurance company, it turns out that Yvette didnt input the amount correctly and caused problems showing I owed money. The office staff is very unorganized! My husband and I have been both patients of Dr. Merhdad Tafreshi MD for nearly two years since moving to Las Vegas. First off, finding a professional, well trained physician in this town is extremely rare! Don't believe me? Just come here and you'll find out "with a quickness". The first thing I appreciated about Dr. Tafreshi MD is the fact that he is up on the latest medical information/treatment for so many things! Yes, the wait times can be a bit daunting as one reviewer already mentioned BUT, if it's a "world class" general practitioner you seek, then waiting will be part of your experience. However, as you do wait, it's very comfortable and they do have a big monitor screen where you can watch endless reruns of popular movies, X-Factor, etc., Dr. Tafreshi MD also has an outstanding Physicians Assistant (PA) by the name of Kristin. She is an absolute STAR!!! She does everything from basic, run of the mill type of visits to gynecological exams, etc., The office staff is also very good! They are overwhelmed as is the healthcare system out here in Nevada. However, they go "above and beyond" to do their very best. Outstanding notables would be for sure, Pablo, Maria, who does both reception and post visit follow up and Ms. Yvette Vasquez, who runs the entire office. She is very, very detailed and is excellent to speak with concerning your bill. In closing, I highly recommend Dr. Merhdad Trafreshi MD if you are looking for an excellent, highly knowledgeable general practitioner for you and your family. Update: I need to add that Doctor Tafreshi found a rare and chronic disease that I have been suffering from for over 10 years! He orders tests that no other doctor had ever considered and that is something I can't thank him enough for! I was given a referral to the best Specialist to treat my newly discovered disease and I can say with confidence that he has changed my life with the expertise he demonstrated! Doctor; Doctor Tafreshi MD is an exceptional Primary Care Doctor! I initially went to him for Pre-Op back surgical permission and I ended up switching to him for all my primary care. Dr. Tefreshi takes the time to listen to all my concerns and keeps a close eye on my treatments, medications and care. He makes sure the medications I'm taking is the correct and best for my Conditions, he's knowledgable with what I need, he knows what tests to preform and provides excellent referrals to specialist. I trust him and that's important for a primary care doctor! (Personal Experience; One time I had a friend 'get me sick' with what started for both of us as a viral sinus attack but turned into infection. We both came in to see him at the same time and my friend was a new patient. That's impressive! Doctor Tefreshi was excellent at identifying my sinus infection and my friends infection that has spread from his sinuses to his middle ear.) Nurse Julie: (I will update this once I remember her name). She is assertive and always on top of what needs to be done. Whether that's getting vitals every time, providing extra help with needs (I needed an icepack and she got it immediately for me), Returning Phone Calls, and updating when the Doctor is a little behind. She is very personable, empathetic when I'm not well and remembers how I was my last visit. She has even had the same Spine Surgeries as me and related, make me feel at ease about care to come. Maria: She is great! She is quick (in the good way) with referrals, getting patients checked out and scheduling appointments. She jumps in to help with high call volumes and is very efficient. I miss Jennifer: She left recently and will be well missed! The new receptionist is courteous and he directs patients accordingly. Wait: The wait time has gotten progressively worse over the years. To schedule an appointment you might have to wait 1-2-4 weeks and while your at the office the wait time is 20-60min in wait room, 10-20min in patient room. I don't know if this is because he gets a high volume of walk-ins, but I know he takes great care of all his patients and it's always well worth the wait. Location: Good location with quick 1 block access off the highway. I've used them for Primary Care, Lab Work, EKG's, Ultrasounds and Pre-Op testing. I am writing this review as I am going through the steps from start to finish here. I am a brand new patient and my mom has referred me. Good location. Located about 2-3 mins off the 95 freeway at Decatur. Same parking lot as toys r us. Very easy to find. Place is nice and clean. Well kept. Looks like he may have just done some remodeling. Jennifer is the lady up front that greeted me and is very nice. She seems to know her job. She is fast an efficient as well as a great multi tasker. Seems like a great start! I've been waiting about an hour now but I expected to wait a little while since I am a walk in patient with no appointment. There was only 1 person when I walked in so I am wondering what is taking so long but all the rooms in the back could be full. And I am just grateful that Doctor T allowed me to come in as a walk in on a very busy Friday afternoon! So I should not and will not complain too much about time. Bathroom is very clean and fresh. I can't tell you how many doctor offices I have walked into and their bathrooms were disgusting! Not here. Seems like they got a good cleaning crew here. Just got called back into the room. Now waiting on dr. Julie is the sweet lady who took me back and took vitals. Very kind. She point blank told me time was not a factor. Do not feel rushed just because I'm a walk in. That is awesome! Most ignorant docs now a days give u 5 mins of their time and they are done! I get a dr in a room and they seem so rushed that I start feeling super rushed. Then I start talking so fast to get everything out that I want to say and always end up forgetting what I came in for in the first place. I'm so sick of places like that! I am a very brittle diabetic and I need a dr who ~#1 takes walk in (who the hell schedules an appointment for strep throat or a cold or flu? Yes may I please set an appt for next Tuesday because I think I will have strep throat and the sniffles that day! Um no!) don't take walk ins or same day then I'm not your patient. ~#2 who can speak to me for more than 5 mins. Don't rush me out of your office and make me so rushed that I start stuttering and forget what I came in for. ~#3actually listens! This is a huge one for me. All these dr think they know you. No, I know my body better than anyone on this planet. So when I say what is going on with me and I tell you I will not take certain medications then listen or I won't be coming back. I hate dr who just come in the room for 3 mins and walk out with 10 scripts they want u on. No way! I will NOT take any new medication unless I research it and make sure it does not have a drug interaction with any of my other meds. ~#4 educate me without belittle me or talking down to me. Telling me what I'm saying is not correct. Yes sir it is absolutely correct. I think before I speak and make sure I know what I'm talking about before I speak about it. And this is my health not yours. So don't get pissy with me when I want to research medications before you shove them down my throat! Yikes! Only negative thing is the walls are paper thin! I can hear anything and everything from the next room. I bet if they turn off the music I'll probably be able to hear them breath lol. Nothing toward the dr or staff of course. Not their fault at all. Dr just left the room. I am so blown away at his professionalism. He is very kind and gentle. Very knowledgable and knows what he's talking about. He is not pushy at all. Listened to every single thing I had to say and did not rush me what so ever. He adjusted some meds my old primary had going and gosh did I need it! He asked my opinion about every single topic we discussed. This is exactly what I needed. A legit straight forward, patient, caring and knowledgable Doctor I can trust with my life! He ordered blood work and it's done in office so I don't have to go elsewhere. Huge convenience since Las Vegas is so damn hot right now! Another lady up front named Maria had my referrals faxed and finished by the time I could blink! I am very big on knowing first names of people. If you can see what color my piss is then we need to be on a first name basis! And no one here has any problem with that! Came into take my blood and lornise is the vampires name. She is a very sweet vampire though! Knows her job and very knowledgable! Quick and painless. As painless as a needle digging into my arm can be! I am a very hard stick. I've been poked up to 13 times when I was in the hospital and no one ever got a vein. I had to have a pick line put in. But ms. Vampire got it on the first stick! God I love this women! Overall I am extremely satisfied and even more grateful. This is my new doctor no doubt about it. I hope he likes me cause he's stuck with me lol. I wish I could give more stars because everyone here deserves it. And no I am not a family member or a friend of anyone at this office. I am just a very grateful patient. I started seeing Doc Tafreshi in January 1995. I haven't seen another primary care doctor since. He's the best for me. We started out together so I know that we got to know each other in a doctor/patient relationship to a "T". He has had a few different offices, I think that they were all clean and professional. Now, in 2019, his office is perfect. His staff has changed a few times, however, not enough to change the attitude, comforts, and professionalism he still has to offer to his patients. As a primary care doctor, Dr. Tafreshi has always given me care in EVERY ASPECT of my health. He offers many, many in-house testing, which helps me because I use paratransit bus services. All I do is let the front office know what time the bus is picking me up and poof I'm done in time for my ___ bus ride home. My next review is to paratransit. Dr. Tafreshi always listens to my complaints (I have a lot) and he has cured a lot of my health issues. I really owe my life to him. I did see a PA at my last visit. I now wish I didn't. The PA was good but nowhere near what I needed that day. I suggest seeing the doc you intended to see and don't let the staff try to convince you otherwise. Yes, I have waited more than an hour in the waiting room but, to me, it is worth it. I am sure if I had a job or had to be someplace else, different arrangements can be made. It's all good. Dr. Tafreshi's a great primary care doctor. He takes pride in hearing my concerns and working through all scenarios to come to a resolution. He has X-ray and blood work on site, which is unheard of in Las Vegas. Any other testing needed he's happy to referral out, with fairly quick follow up appointments. Dr Tafreshi is excellent! He helped save my life 2 years ago, detecting through ultrasound a close carotid artery(right side) and a partially closed one on left side in my neck. Thanks to him, I got a stent through his referrals. He is a gifted internalist specialist with good knowledge about other areas of medicine. He is someone I TOTALLY trust. I always tease him about 'working too hard,' but, that's how and who he is. The office staff like Jennifer and Maria are very helpful, patient, courteous and kind, and appreciate my humor. Dr Tafreshi is my primary care DR. I just had 5 Endovenous Ablation procedures done by Dr Tafreshi and his staff. The results are wonderful. Before I would get pain in my left calf after 100 feet. Now no pain. The swelling is gone and heavy leg feeling. As far as having long wait time it is because Dr Tafreshi takes all the time he needs with each patient. I have to agree about Dr. Tafreshi looking at his laptop instead of focusing on the patient. The wait time is way too long - usually an hour once you get a room. The claim that this is caused by making sure patients get enough time with the doctor is bullshit - schedule less patients then so you can do that. Ok now for the really bad stuff: On our last visit, Dr. Tafreshi told me my significant other's test results were within normal range for his kidneys, and then I actually got to see the test results after the visit was over. Guess what, they were OUT OF RANGE. Also, he completely ignored the high blood sugar issue that the test results showed. This is not a doctor who gives any kind of a f**k about patients. I asked him once for a homocystein test, and he said some bullshit like "the idea that vitamins reduce homocystein levels was disproven a long time ago," then simply said that he does not give homocystein tests. He knew nothing about any kind of studies to back up his opinion. Can you say: "I am in love with drug companies"? read more
