I enjoyed our round at Meadowlands. I think this course is worth playing at least once for the experience. It's the only course in the Triad designed by Hale Irwin and one of only four Irwin designs in North Carolina (that I'm aware of). To date, I believe it's the only Irwin course I've played. Both my dad and a friend recommended this course to me. The course opened in 1995 and I think it's seen better days. When we played, the conditions were OK, not great. For about a $50 weekend daily fee, the course conditioning was average (perhaps at best) compared to other public courses I've played for about the same price. The course design feels relatively "open" in that there are a handful of holes that play directly alongside one another with little to no separation. Houses line several of the holes and 18 parallels the driving range. There are more typical, tree-lined, secluded-feeling holes too. All in all, I think the layout is interesting enough. The signature hole is probably No. 10 which is a longish par-4 featuring a tee shot over the property's biggest pond. It's a scenic hole as the pond extends all the way towards the green. Holes 2, 3, and 8 surround the course's smaller pond to the south. This is a par-72 course with five sets of tees. From the tips (golds), the course measures 6,778 yards with a 73.0/140 rating/slope. We played from the whites: 6,008 yards, 69.5/127. I found this course to be average in difficulty and shot a 93 (a solid round for me; I'm not good). My dad and I went off as a twosome, riding, on a Sunday. We pushed the group in front of us, but never thought the pace of play was too slow. Admittedly, I would've preferred we played faster, but there was only two of us. The course has bentgrass greens and they were in good shape. The fairways are Bermuda grass and they were mostly in fair shape. They've got a sizable driving range, two practice bunkers (a plus; some courses have none), a practice chipping green, and a large practice putting green. You hit off both mats and grass at the range. The clubhouse is basic and no-frills. Service was fine. Overall, I think this is an A-OK golf course and facility. I'm not sure I'd come back on my own, but I wouldn't be opposed to revisiting if one of my friends wanted to play here. read more

bring a leaf blower. during the summer a great course. I simply asked why no one blew off the greens that were full of leaves. I was returned w by staff that they cannot have maintenance blow them off all day I paid $65 dollars to put over green after green covered w leaves. I understand it's that time of year but it only takes a few minutes to have someone clear the greens. all good because I will not ever come back w the poor attitude I received. I had the water boy in front of us for 8 holes spraying the greens but a simple leaf blower?? bring a leaf blower if u play here. great course but the $10 hr kids behind the counter need a course w customer service. I really enjoy the course. It's got a good mix of challenges on the front and back 9. I'm by no means a great golfer but do enjoy the layout and mix. It keeps me coming back to get better and to have a relaxing time. read more

Terrible experience this weekend. Heard about this place but never came out. Friends invited me to give it a try as it was their first time too. We played on 9/16/23. Club "pro", think his name was Josh, was a jerk, they had tee times right in the middle of a tournament then complained because we were moving too slow. Pace of play is 4 hours. Common sense. Its a beautiful Saturday morning, obviously its going to be busy. Clubhouse staff is trash, all were rude and acted like they have never been in customer service before. Course looks eh compared to Winding Creek (a local municipal course half the price). Overall, not a good experience. My buddies and I won't be back. read more

Terrible customer service!!!!!! The course is nice but the employees in the clubhouse are rude and careless. Was putting on hole 16 and the whole time a fairway mower was mowing within 20 feet of the green. Almost ran over my ball once!!! Would not get away from the green while we tried to putt. They have enough mowers and people and should be courteous of paying customers. If people don't pay to golf you won't have a job!!!!! I will not be golfing there again! read more

I play a lot of courses in the area and rarely feel the need to write a review. 1st problem- the fairway was a a layer of mud covered in dead and brown grass. It was just pasted down like someone went over it with a steamroller. Probably the worse course I've played in a while in regards to hitting surface. 2nd problem- they fire people off every 6 minutes which results in serious pace of play issues. No ranger to nudge groups along and in combination with poor drainage...it's cart path only if it has rained in the past week. Pay more and go somewhere else because a course in this condition sucks the fun right out of a round of golf. read more

Played here on July 2 in a pasty muddy mess! Mother Nature has wreaked havoc on this course causing them to shut it down for the rest of the month! The fairways were nearly unplayable due to so much mud! Yet my problem is they had two chances to do the right thing. When we called to make a tee time, and when we showed to play! Offer a discount or let us know ahead of time what to expect! Instead you charge the full $35 and when we complained later they told us every course around is in the same shape! NOT! Just played last week for nearly half the price and the course was in good shape! Beware! read more

Very well maintained but pricey. Problems with geese during some seasons so watch your step!

1) Course drains very poorly. You hit out of mud and soggy grass a lot. 2) Course Ranger had no idea what he was doing. Was insulting to us and kissed up to the members.We were putting on the 9 th green in exactly 2 hrs, but he came and gave gave us grief because the "members" behind us said we were playing slowly. Didn't even check our tee off time, and completely missed the fact that there was a group in front of us that we had to wait for. There are plenty of great courses in this area. Great course, but terrible management who doesn't honor pricing posted online or through 3rd party discounts. 1st example, received an email from the Golf course, offering discount rate for weekend rate which was unbelievable. Called to confirm price and was told that we would have to book online to get rate, which we did. When we showed up to play, the "Golf Pro" didn't want to honor rate booked, even though it was booked online and I even had the screenshot showing rate offered. Eventually he allowed us to play, after some heated discussion. Needlessly to say, it was hard to enjoy the round after that encounter. I emailed the golf course expressing my concerns and displeasure in the way this was handled and did not receive or get a response back. Now 3 years later, I purchase discount voucher from GroupGolfer for the same course, which expired but was still good for the face value of $25, towards the current rate at that time. In presenting the voucher, the same "Golf Pro" said that I had to pay "them" the course $25, instead of the difference of $9.00 ($34.00 rate). When I called GroupGolfer and explained what took place, even they were surprised by the Manager's explanation. Very disappointed in the way this golf course conducts its business practices, with current management. read more

This place has gone so far down hill it is a shame. Weeds everywhere on the greens and tee boxes, it embarrassing. They continue to charge the same greedy rates though, and they are clearly not putting any money into the place. Play anywhere else you can, you're welcome. read more

New superintendent. Greens are beautiful this summer. Well maintained. Highly recommend it. One of the better courses in the area.

The greens were by far the worse I've played this year, they were bumpy and extremely slow with dead spots and crabgrass. The rough looks like it was just mowed for the first time in a long time as there were poles of dead grass all over. They charged $48 and the course was worth $20 tops. read more

8/25/13: The greens were in awful shape (caked mud, sand all over the place)...literally the worst greens I have played in Winston Salem. The only puttable green was the 18th. If you want to putt on grass, don't play this course. Was very disappointed. Layout is pretty good though. read more

Meadowlands just gets better and better. The greens are perfect. They have had some winter damage just as all the courses in the area have but have already made plans to make the necessary repairs. They have a new superintendent (2nd year) that has made a huge difference and the course is as good as ever. One of my favorite in the area and a must play. The affordable green fees make it that much better. read more
