Not alerting families of this change or giving them any chance to go over new or "needed" paperwork (on their end), when they sold out. While this may have been a smooth transition for most, for others, it's caused upset, acute distress, frustration, extreme anxiety and overwhelming emotional dysregulation. At a time in families lives, a company like this, should be helping guide and ease their grieving process... not add to the heartbreak and worsen the pain. Being in this business requires a level of compassion that Cascade Memorial clearly lacks. Staff have lied to both families and state offices about paperwork needing to be filed. Lack of accountability is an understatement. Email threads, phone calls, paper trails and learning the history of this company being sued for similar reasons (they will be hearing from more attorneys and possible news outlets soon) has been beyond shocking and traumatic. Losing a loved one is one of the most difficult challenges someone will face, and to "hold" a body for over not just one but two months?! Is disgusting, shameful, abhorrent, evil and when it comes down to it, inexcusable. This company should be ashamed of what they are putting some families through and I will make sure that I never, ever recommend this place. Cascade Memorial and frankly, the other South Sound Region places Dignity Memorial owns (just to be safe) have been black listed from anywhere I will recommend patients and families. I am disgusted and disappointed and hope that someday, this place can change for the better... but for now, this review is to warn others to stay away, change memorials or at least be aware of the pain and suffering they are causing. The recent things they have said and done shouldn't be legal, and frankly, that'll be run by an attorney as well. I wouldn't be surprised if they have this comment taken down, because it doesn't just speak truth, but it threatens an image that they are failing to uphold and like most "big box" type companies, they like to make these kinds of "problems" (because that's all this seems to be to them, not about an actual PERSON) disappear. The deceased are not paperwork, grieving families are not problems to be managed, and human dignity should never become collateral damage in the pursuit of profit.

I want to express my heartfelt appreciation for Columbia Funeral Home, and especially for Nichole,…read morewho supported our family through the arrangements for my granddaughter, Za'Mani. During one of the most painful moments of our lives, Nichole was a steady and compassionate presence. She offered us a deeply meaningful way to honor Za'Mani -- inviting us to write personal notes and messages that would be cremated with her. This act allowed us to send our love with her in a way that felt intimate, spiritual, and true. It was something we will never forget. What stood out most was the way Nichole held the process. She met us with gentleness, understanding, and a sincere sensitivity to the weight of our grief. Her presence felt warm, grounded, and respectful -- like she truly saw our granddaughter and our family, not just a task to complete. Even with the added complications the funeral home was facing at the time, recovering from arson damage, Nichole remained present, patient, and attentive. Her heart for this work is evident. She brings dignity, respect, and care that goes beyond professionalism -- it is human, empathetic, and real. I am deeply grateful to Nichole and to Columbia Funeral Home for helping us honor our granddaughter with love and reverence. We will always remember how we were treated during this time.

"You came at the wrong time" she said when she came out of their garage. I showed her the time in the previous day's reminder email. "That's not from me" she said. I had previously asked her two quick questions. "You have been rude since the beginning" she said. So much for empathy or customer service. I guess they don't have to be concerned about repeat customers. I don't know what her name was since she didn't introduce herself. Following up with their office, they didn't know either. I hope I received the right box of ashes. LOL

When mom passed away, a few month later, the Neptune Society was there, just as promised. The whole process was straightforward. The hospice nurse simply made the phone call and Neptune society took it from there. Brad, from the Neptune Society, provided excellent service and was easy to work with. His compassion and professionalism during this difficult period was extremely helpful. I recommend the Neptune Society for those considering cremation.

I am not doing that great. ***Please check the complaints at the Better Business Bureau.*** Neptune is *not* accredited. I am going to file a complaint there. A friend is helping me now to deal with them. I have spent nights crying over what they did. I would not trust them with anything, much less my father's remains. I wasn't even sure they would give me his ashes, it could be anybody, as far as I can tell from their practices. I could not handle looking at his urn and wondering who was in there. 1. They work on commission, and they upsell you, hard, once you have started the process of cremating your loved one. When you are vulnerable and grieving. It was a long conversation of upselling. I was just trying to understand the cremation process and when I would receive my Dad's ashes (I live in another state). I was wildly confused when they started telling me about all the things to buy and do. Like if I wanted to view my father (outrageous price to do that), it would cost hundreds more to ***put a pillow behind his head*** Not. Kidding. I literally gasped in shock and "oh my f***ing god" slipped out of my mouth. 2. They charge far (2x) more than other funeral homes/crematories. I wish, wish, wish, I had done better research. Neptune is a national company and seemed reputable. I was so wrong. 3. If issued a refund, it is wildly inadequate. My policy was $2745. They gave me $909 as refund. I researched online - they are known for being unethical with refunds. I am sure these awful people issue refunds frequently. Again, check the BBB. Look on here for other crematories the do not upsell you. I found a wonderful one, Elemental. Charged HALF, did not upsell. They told me about extra procedures they have, beyond legal requirements, for making sure the remains are of the right person. They do not work on commission. They were perfect. To Neptue Society directly: I will not stop until my refund is resolved ethically. Be aware of that. You humiliated me and caused me pain at the most difficult moment of my life. I do not allow anyone to treat me that way.
