Doctor Khilnani was extremely professional and thorough during our prenatal appointments and exams. She was kind and patient and took the time to explain everything and answer all my questions, never rushed me and always with a great attitude and a warm smile. I will be forever grateful to Dr. Khilnani as she save my baby's life when she realized my daughter was not growing properly and got me into an early labor (37 weeks). During labor she was calm and guided me with confidence. She respected all my delivery and labor's requests and offered my husband to cut the chord which made him really happy! I was really scared of giving birth and I feel so blessed and grateful that with Dr. Khilnani both my baby and I are safe and healthy, I had a beautiful experience. Lastly, Dr. Khilnani has the lowest rate of vaginal tear and it was really important to me to come of of the birth with minimal to no tear which with doctor Khilnani I was able to archive! Be prepared to wait for over an hour for your appointment. NEVER let them book you at 10 am, she strolls in at 11 every day even when she has a 10am. She will always be late, even for the birth of your child. She will also scold you for everything she can and she will forget everything about you and never consult your chart. Dr. Rubina Khilnani is an amazing doctor!! She is very genuine, thorough and patient in making decisions and carefully considers each and every possibility for the patient. She has given me time in every visit to listen to all my concerns and questions. In my third trimester, I was detected in high risk pregnancy case. Dr. K managed the entire process extremely well which made me feel relaxed. The reason I felt confident during my pregnancy and delivery was because Dr K was my doctor and I trusted her that she will take every step to ensure the best outcome. Dr. K also emphasizes a lot on proper diet and both during pregnancy and post partum. Sindy, in support staff in Dr. K's office, has been extremely helpful in the entire process and is very punctual in getting back with any questions/requests. My wife and I had the privilege of working with Dr. Rubi for our first pregnancy. We live in Oakland but the drive to San Mateo was totally worth it! She is extremely thorough, never rushes an appointment and will spend the time needed to make sure every question and concern is addressed before we leave her clinic. My wife had an unfortunate accident breaking her left foot in her third trimester and Dr. Khilnani was very closely involved throughout with frequent checkins until the delivery. Don't bother going here. Dirty, old outdated office, rude / inattentive staff & Dr constantly contradicts herself. Says things like "your bra is too lose, your boobs will be at at knees in a few years." Then the following year "this bra is too tight!". She told me I need to take a big list of supplements daily (I have no health conditions). They Called me with someone else's test results.... Saying I was positive and indeed was NOT. TLDR: unhygienic clinic with an unprofessional doctor practicing age old practices. Cleanliness and 0 care for patient privacy/confidentiality: The restroom had urine samples of other patients in open cups with patient names. No compassion and unprofessional consultation: Dr said my pregnancy test was negative based on one nurse's response and said I had a miscarriage and told me to stop trying to conceive for two months. I asked her if there's any data that suggests holding off after miscarriage but she didn't have any response. She plainly said my egg quality will be low. She commented on my previous Ob's credibility because she had suggested otherwise. She wanted the name of my previous Ob, her facility and her experience details, which were absolutely not related to my concerns. Just when I was finishing up paperwork and returning, another nurse came out to say my pregnancy test still had a faint line, to which the doctor rudely said, it's still a miscarriage, it'll go away fully tomorrow. I had a very good experience with Doctor Rubi Khilnani and her office staff. She has given attention and addressed right away to everything I had mentioned over my pregnancy. All the concerns and needs were answered and taking care. She was able to accommodate all the changes. She was very professional and personal at same time. I am very happy with the delivery. Even with the planned C-section I went to labor earlier and she was able to be there as I needed it and to provide a great delivery experience. My worst experience with a gynecologist. Completely unprofessional doctor. First, I waited 30 minutes after the appointed time. Then I was accepted and filled out a 20-minute questionnaire. Then the doctor invited me to the office and told me to take my clothes off. I lay naked for 25 minutes in the office, and the doctor never waited. I got up and dressed, went out into the hallway, where she talked to other patients. I wouldn't recommend this doctor at all. Take care of your health and time. read more

The front desk is impractical with such a shoddy record keeping. They don't even contact your insurance before an appointment and directly bill you at the desk. Its almost impossible to get a receipt back to claim with your insurance. They do procedures which you don't expect or ask for and then bill for it too. My journey with Dr. Khilnani was and still is breath-taking. She is an amazing doctor, I first googled a doctor because I had irregular periods and yes I was on birth control, but after I had it taken out due to medical issues, I came to her cause I had pregnancy symptoms, but turns out I wasn't. I came back to her cause me and my husband were trying to have a baby. She did prescribe me prenatal vitamins to get my body prepared. Long story short, we had a surprise Christmas present coming on the way and found out I was further along than we both thought. It was my first pregnancy, and Dr. K took amazing care of me and my new born son who is now 4 months old. When it was finally time to head to the hospital, I was 39 weeks but was not in labor yet. I was 40 weeks in July and was in labor, but my baby would not progress after several hours of pushing really well, so a call was made to have a C-section. Dr. K did an incredible job with my C-section, and even today I cannot even see a scar. After my surgery she always checked on me regularly to make sure I was doing well and walking, same with my son she checked on him as well. When I go to my appointments to see Dr. Khilnani, she always greets me with a smile asks how I'm doing and always asks about my little boy which touches my heart. Would totally recommend Dr. Khilnani. She has lots of experience dealing with complicated pregnancies and was recommended to us as the best doctor to go with if you have any complications with the pregnancy. My wife has thyroid problems, so the obvious choice was to go with the best doctor available in the bay area. We did our research and chose Dr.K. We did not know that we were making a choice that could save us in near future - will talk about that later. It was easy to get appointments with Dr. K and their office staffs Natalie and Jackie were super friendly and ready to help all the time. The staffs and doctor were always ready to answer any questions we had. As a husband, this put me in a very good position. Every time my wife used to come back from the doctor with much more energy and peace of mind. Towards the 40th week of pregnancy, we called doctor's number on odd times to ask questions. There is a group of doctors on this number, so there is always somebody to answer the questions. This is extremely helpful. Towards the delivery time, the doctor gave a heads-up that our baby's head is slightly big and may cause problems. During the delivery, which was normal, my wife experienced cervix tears due to that and that's when Dr. K became a God for us. I don't know how to explain the situation there; the doctor was calm but was in the beast mode to stitch things up and in getting the bleeding stop in no time. She literally saved my wife's life and I know that I will never be able to thanks her enough. The way she handled the situation in hand clearly shows how experienced and professional she is. There on, I have seen her frequently visiting the hospital and following up with to ensure that my wife is safe. I would give her all the stars in the world if I can. Unfortunately, Yelp has a 5-star limit. If you are expecting a baby and wants to have that peace of mind, Dr. K is the doctor you need to go to. I was referred to Dr. Khilnani by a friend who said that she is the "ovary whisperer". I had a terrible experience at a prior clinic where they were super cold, so it was a huge relief to meet a doctor who was so kind and caring. She is a really warm and bubbly personality, but backs it up with a lot of medical knowledge and thoughtfulness. Aaand... she got me pregnant within the first month of working with her, despite some not great odds! I was a patient at her clinic all through my first trimester (I am moving so sadly she won't be helping me deliver) and feel I could not have received better care. It's been 3.5 months since Dr. Khilnani performed a C section on me to bring out my wonderful twin boys. And I must say, she really made my whole pregnancy / birthing experience wonderful. Although some might think that I really don't have a point of comparison since its my first pregnancy, all I know is that I always felt secure and confident in her ability to take care of me and my babies. She always answered our many questions (and believe me my hubby & I are expert in researching everything!) which shows how well trained she is in her profession. Another plus with Dr. K is that she is affiliated with both Lucile Packard Children's Hospital in Stanford and Sequoia Hospital so she has the option of using the facilities of either hospital depending on the condition of her patients. In my case, she had me register at both hospitals. Why? So just in case I deliver preterm, we can go to Stanford which has the top NICU in the bay area. And if I made it to full term (which is 37 weeks for twin pregnancy) we can go to Sequoia which is really close to my home and also a great birthing hospital. Lucky me, and I think it is also because of Dr. K's care, I made it to full term and delivered at Sequioa. Dr. Khilnani is an amazing physician. Not only was she super attentive to my needs during my pregnancy, but also she was super attentive to my needs during delivery and honored our wishes to have a Vaginal Birth. I labored for 3 hours and for 3 hours straight Dr. Khilnani performed a perineal massage (and boy was it not a massage!) so that I wouldn't tear or need to be cut. Her efforts paid off and I'm so thankful. No cuts or tears and 3 hours later a beautiful, healthy baby girl was born. Even though it seemed like the nurses wanted to quit and call a C-section, Dr. Khilnani soldiered on and encouraged me all the way through to push my baby out. This woman diagnosed my endo and she dropped me knowing my endo had returned on both sides and my liver following the surgery she performed. Her reaction when she saw it"" "I'm not doing another surgery!!!" Used the excuse that she didn't like my insurance, yet she accepted it for the first operation, where she "preserved my fertility" and then scolded me because " I wasn't interested" and then bragged about "getting a 50 year old pregnant" when I mentioned that I felt too old to be having kids. My she has changed since she was under they wing of Dr. Troig in Redwood City she went from an all purpose OBY/GYN to some high end boutique fertility clinic that didn't want my "kind" and it felt terrible. I understand my surgery is complicated and you only want to deliver something with a face, Dr Khilnani. not another Endometriosis tumor. I accept it but my experience of being dumped by YOU, my doctor didn't feel very nice, regardless of your reasoning. And please don't call me at home again asking me to change my review like last time, Dr. Khilnani. I am entitled to my voice and my opinion and so is the yelp community. I became pregnant unexpectedly and chose Dr. Khilnani's practice because she was the only doctor available at the time for me to get a sonogram done before my last minute flight out to see the baby's father. I am very happy to have found Dr. Khilnani and her team (Jackie and Natalie) and to have had her as my doctor throughout the pregnancy. These women were very supportive physically, emotionally, and mentally throughout the whole process, including when I found out a few weeks later Baby was actually Babies. I was very lucky to have had my pregnancy treat me kindly until the beginning of my third trimester when my cervix shortened drastically, therefore increasing the risk for pre-term labor, but Dr. Khilnani's management of the situation got me to 36 weeks and 2 days (it would have been longer if we hadn't already scheduled my c-section for that specific date). This was also my first pregnancy, and despite not knowing all the things to expect, I was definitely not looking forward to the delivery bit (either vaginal or Caesarian), because the prospect of it always scared me. I ended up having a Caesarian, and I cannot emphasize enough how AWESOME and AMAZING she and her delivery team were during the surgery!! I was so scared of the actual surgery, of being cut open, whether I would heal properly, and most of all, the pain. I can confidently say that it went so well, including management of the pain during the healing process, that if I were to get pregnant again, which I doubt since I've gotten more than I bargained for this time around, I would more than likely have her perform a c-section for me again. I couldn't have asked for a better pregnancy so thank you very much Dr. Khilnani and team. We moved to the Bay Area when I was halfway through my first pregnancy, so finding Dr. Khilnani was an answer to prayer! Her office and staff are warm and welcoming, it's easy to reach a person when calling, and I appreciate how quick my appointments are while still being thorough and giving me and my husband the opportunity to have all of our questions and concerns addressed. Dr. Khilnani personally conducts every appointment, does almost every delivery herself (any that she doesn't involve extenuating circumstances), and is the best hybrid of a midwife and an Ob in her methodology. Though I did not have a high risk pregnancy, my baby was large and I like Dr. Khilnani's 'better safe than sorry' approach. In the end, she allows me to make my own decisions regarding my care, but ensures that I'm fully informed to make the right call. Dr. Khilnani also has the best bedside manner of any doctor I've ever visited; she doesn't conceal her very sweet, jovial, and caring personality. It is not unusual to laugh or even hug during appointments. On September 5th, Dr. Khilnani delivered my sweet, large, healthy son -Joel- via caesarian at Sequoia Hospital. I was delighted at how long she took to carefully seal my incision, and I've healed beautifully. When the Sequoia nurses came to check on me during our hospital stay, they seemed surprised at how good the incision looked until one reminded the others, "Her doctor is Khilnani", and at once they understood. What can I say about a woman who helped me the most precious thing I have-my daughter? Dr K is something short of god for me and my husband! We started seeing Dr K based on a friend's recommendation and we are so glad we did. Dr K took the time to get to us both medically and personally and made us feel like she was the third musketeer on our pregnancy adventure! My pregnancy wasn't an easy one and involved trips to the ER and bed rest and at every step Dr K was there cheering me on and pepping me up. I'll never forget the sense of relief I had when DR K walked into the ER after I got there in the middle of the night. She was on the phone with the Dr the whole time until she got there! Throughout the process Dr K has been prompt to reply to my emails and calls. Yvette who is the woman behind the woman runs the office efficiently and is such a sweet and pleasant person! I miss Dr K and Yvette as they were a huge part of my life during such a scary/exciting/difficult period. I have only been seeing Dr. Khilnani for a few months, but I know I have finally found a doctor that I trust and really like. While I was searching around online for a new doctor, I noticed that I could message her right from her website, and her nurse got back to me quickly about my questions and concerns. How cool is that?! She is very understanding, kind and made me feel much less nervous about my fertility treatments. I am currently on my second cycle of IUI. I switched doctors after my first IUI and feel much more confident in Dr. Khilnani's knowledge. She is very thorough and gives you a personalized "fertility plan" including a list of whatever drugs you may need and when to take them, when to schedule ultrasounds, when to take your HCG trigger shot, and a list of supplements you should be taking. I am a big believer in vitamins and supplements, so I appreciated this part very much. I ended up ovulating on a weekend and she made time to meet me at the office to do my IUI, which was very fast and painless. She's also quick to get back to you about any questions that may arise. I've called several times to ask things about medications and whatnot and she or Yvette always return calls promptly. Also, I've been lucky enough to not have to wait long at any of my appointments, but really, I think this is a factor that people should not complain about. Doctors are busy! They have to address each patients needs individually and run back and fourth from delivering babies. If you have to wait, get over it! One day someone else may be waiting because of you! And as far as that review that said she told someone not to take fish oil and to take flax oil instead. Well, that just can't be accurate, because I was taking only flax oil (which I didn't realize is not a complete as fish oil) and Dr. Khilnani specifically instructed me to take fish oil instead. read more

The office staff is amazingly courteous (a star for them) and show genuine care for the patients. Wish I could say the same about Dr Rubina Khilnani. She is pretty insensitive to your needs and claims that vaginismus is a mental block that can be treated by "just not feeling the pain". She claims that a woman's body is meant to endure pain and that someone with a low threshold for pain should just get over it. Though she does use a little lube before she uses the speculum on you, the way she shoves it in someone suffering from vaginismus and dryness is awful. Honestly, one appointment with her is enough to deter you from thinking about having children altogether. On top of that, they have billing practices that make you question their prudence: they didn't file for the insurance to pay them in the time they were supposed to, and they bill me instead! Unethical, Wrong Billing to Insurance, They can bill you even after 1year for something that you already paid Mismanagement, Unpunctual, Carelessness Unpunctual & Carelessness at it's peak- you make an appointment and still you will not be taken in at the same time slot. I have to wait for at least an hour due to either doctor did not reach office or dr has given same time slot to many people and she isn't able to manage all at same time slot. This happened throughout my pregnancy. In fact she was late on the due date and time. Nurse in the hospital reached out to dr over the phone call and despite of that dr was 2 and half hoour late. This was totally unacceptable. Very wrong attitude when dr was aware that I am in labour pain for more than 2hr then how could you not ready to reach to the patient on time when the nurse shared every sequential steps of delivery. Billing Issue: Dr kept billing for Urine test multiple time when I had no test done with her. Upon raising question dr mentioned it's just few $. My question was not about few $, it was more about bill to the patient or Insurance with only the test you have done. This is unethical way of earning money. There are many people in US who do not go in detail of breakdown of billings and I was one of those person. After encountering such issue with this dr I needed to make sure by calling Insurance that she isn't billing for wrong things.  I came to know from insurance that for same visit she would charge OB-gyn and also as physician visit. I have not seen any doctor in US who does like that.  Very unethical practice. Lact of Trust &Care: throughout the pregnancy she kept wondering that I may not have delivery with her that's why she was not even sharing me report...saying every time dear come next time and we will give you report. Carelessness is when she doesn't help me with the when I have symptoms of pain at different body parts and she kept saying this is normal.  No patient would like to hear that this is normal. read more

Any words written about Dr. K will be insufficient to explain what a wonderful Dr / person she is. I came to her as a patient in my 24th week of twin pregnancy as a high risk case. I was constantly under the radar for a pre term labor. However if today I have successfully delivered two full term healthy babies it's all courtesy Dr. K. She is an extremely knowledgeable Dr who pays attention to minute details of each patient of hers. She knows her job well and does it with a calm demeanor. I highly recommend Dr K to anyone who needs to find that comfort knowing that your Dr is doing her job well and will do everything right for you and your baby.
