Essentially, I needed a trustworthy individual to function as my proxy to pick up an important document on my behalf and then mail it out overnight. I just moved from Chicago and my Chicago friends all work so no one was available to spare the round trip 3.5 hr train ride. So I was looking for a stranger that could help me out. I tried Task Rabbit and immediately got an offer that was ridiculously expensive since they would have to come from Chicago to do it. So I turned to Yelp to see if there were any reliable services I could find in Springfield, IL. There isn't much variety in Springfield, so I turned to the first law office I found which had a single 5-star rating. Mike Logan himself picked up the phone from the Law Offices of Mike Logan at 4:30 pm. After a 5 minute desperate explanation, he quickly understood my dilemma and without hesitation told me to detail in email/fax whatever I needed him to do and attach the necessary documents. Not only was I shocked that he fielded my call but that he stayed on the line with me. He could have easily interrupted me and told me that he only specializes in Bankruptcy Law. The very next day he calls me personally and tells me that the document was successfully picked up on my behalf and that he would be sending it overnight to the Medical Board of California as I described for him. His secretary then called me back to ask me for my personal mailing address so she could send me a copy of the document to me for my own records. Insane! I need to meet more people like Mike Logan and his staff. If I ever go bankrupt, I know who I'm calling first. If Mike was willing to help an out-of-stater on a favor requested over the phone having never met him, I can't imagine what he offers his clients in his area of expertise. P.S. I will be reimbursing Mike for overnight postage obviously. I offered to pay for his services and inconvenience but he never once discussed or negotiated for a particular fee. Maybe I'll be getting a fat invoice in the mail but certainly service and people like this are worth paying for. At least I know where to go if the fee does eventually bankrupt me.

At the initial intake, the attorney and his wife were very cordial, accommodating, and professional. That changed dramatically once they were paid. These have to be two of the most rude and disrespectful individuals on God's green Earth. This is the first time I've gone through a bankruptcy, so obviously I had questions and was not familiar with the process. They tried to make me feel as though each question I had was a dumb one. No compassion, no understanding. They have zero shreds of human decency. DO NOT let the price sway you their way. You'll regret it. Pay the extra money and have someone who will treat you like a real human being and provide you with the service you deserve in an otherwise difficult situation.
