Leslie must have seen me drooling while checking out the beef jerky, she asked me if I needed help, and I obliged. I sampled their Peppered and their Teriyaki, before I asked her what the most popular ones were. She suggested the Peppered Honey and the Sweet and Spicy- both were glorious! Those are the two we went with- the Peppered Honey had a nice peppered sweet balance and the Sweet and Spicy has a delicious kick of heat and the end. Leslie was so kind and took us around on a tour of all of their offerings, giving her personal suggestions and customer favorites. I appreciated that touch of customer service that is just non-existent and most grocery stores in their meat departments. Her service alone made us customers for life- thank you! Pro Tip: In talking with Leslie I mentioned that it was our first time there- she let us know that they serve a hot "Brat of the Day" and new customers get one on the house. We were serves the Beer Brat on a stick and it was delicious. So if you're a newbie, like me, mention it to a staff member when you check out for a meaty treat :)

In a glass bottle with the cream floating at the top! We had a houseguest a couple weeks ago and he really liked the milk. Turns out he may be lactose intolerant. He did enjoy the milk though. Then when I don't find it and they look - one of the items they say oh yeah, probably not at this location and the other one they say that so and so (some guys name I'm apparently supposed to know) had some out which are gone. Basically this is apparently shopping for those people who want to buy a bottle of wine, some fancy mushrooms and a can of something they can't pronounce, pay a whole lot of money for it and talk to Gary (or whoever) about the weather. And those mushrooms are gorgeous. I did grab cake samples for the road because they were there. Yeah, so YUM. Also their bakery folks were very helpful with their items. And the prices for bakery goods was actually reasonable since you really are getting quality. Same with their delivery and they were also quite helpful. When she finally decided to assist us, her attitude was condescending and rude. What made the experience even more uncomfortable was that I felt racially profiled when I simply asked how much a slice of strawberry shortcake cost. After telling me the price, she immediately questioned whether I could afford it or if I still wanted it, which I found insulting and inappropriate. To make matters worse, the slice of cake was not worth the $9 price tag. Between the poor service, disrespectful treatment, and disappointing product, I have no intention of returning. There are plenty of bakeries that treat their customers with courtesy and respect--this is not one of them.

The portions of everything are very generous. Sandwiches and avocado toast are definitely enough to share or take home for a second meal. We shared a lemon crepe which had what tasted like house made lemon curd inside of it. It was dusted with powdered sugar and created a delicious flavor. Crepe was perfectly prepared. I ordered the avocado toast which was twice the size of what I expected and could eat, so it made a very nice lunch later. The avocado is a spread as opposed to sliced; although I prefer sliced, this was actually pretty tasty. This also came with a fried egg on both of the pieces of toast and thinly sliced radishes, flat leaf parsley, sesame seed, and a generous amount of pickled red onion which I adore. The bread is a lovely European multigrain. Underneath the toast, I found a beautiful fresh green salad with a balsamic vinaigrette and tomatoes, and all in all this was the perfect dish. My dining companion chose the turkey sandwich, and this two was a very large sandwich. It looked really great and had a lot of turkey on it, so much that it looked like fresh turkey as opposed to a deli meat, but I'm really not sure. For some reason, she didn't especially care for her sandwich; may have been a little too much pesto on it for her likes, but I thought it looked wonderful and also came with a salad. I had a drip coffee, for which I was told I could get refills for free, and my companion had a latte. Both were very good. We recently purchased a smoker and were so excited to smoke some meat on the upcoming weekend. We decided on buying meat from a butcher to smoke. Looked up nearby places on the internet, and the only one open near us was Top Choice Meats. They received great reviews, so we decided to give them a shot. They're located in a strip mall with plenty of parking available. We were greeted as we walked in (always a good sign). The inside was very clean and organized. The young lady who helped us was super helpful and knowledgeable with all questions asked. We decided on a brisket, but the one in the case was around 8 lbs, which was way too big for just the two of us. She offered to cut it in half. Perfect! We got home, made a rub, and smoked it for about 4 hrs on 250°. Once the internal temperature reached 195°, we removed it to let it rest for about an hour. We sliced it and wow, oh wow, it was outstanding! The flavor of the meat was amazing. We were very happy with our first smoke. Since our first visit was great, we came back this weekend for steak and brats! We would definitely recommend this butcher. We look forward to trying more cuts of meat in the future.
