The office building including the lounging area, the indoor gym, and the pool are kept in immaculate conditions, rain or shine. I had my clashes with Northplace but decided to give the place 4 stars for one major reason, and that is the amazing Maintenance Team. I have rented in various apartments in NYC, Chicago, and OC of SoCal. No place comes close to the courteousness and professionalism of the folks at Northplace. Their empathy and apologies are sincere, and they really know how to deliver the best resolution for problems at your unit. If you happen to rent at Northplace and run into trouble, my only suggestion is to be patient but persistent. They mean no intentional inconvenience. Best of luck.

You have monthly utility charges AND quarterly utility charges. Yes they look nice on the outside but the inside is a landlords special. Black Mold, Patches in the ceiling, there are spots in my carpet where the padding underneath is missing, the doors are uneven, appliances are in horrible condition, walls are uneven and the apartments are crawling with wolf, spiders, pincher bugs, roly-poly's and more. The water qualities is disgusting. We have to buy water from the store, leaves black stains in our toilets and sinks, and has the most horrendous smell and taste . It takes the maintenance man more than three times to fix a simple task. They avoid replacing things at all cost. Also for the condition of the apartments, the "yearly inspection" is ridiculous (picture attached) and the manager Makie Cruz doesn't know what she's doing, isn't involved and is RUDE (At 42 I have had many landlords/managers and she is by far the most under qualified insulting arrogant one yet). For the price this place it is no where near worth it. Me and my wife are not even allowed to have guests overnight we can not even have guest PETS. Absolute joke. DO NOT MOVE HERE ITS A MONEY SCAM. Packages constantly going missing, people selling drugs, stealing cars and there is never any guest parking. Don't move here if you have children, please find somewhere better and safer.

When our refrigerator leaked, they were good about getting it replaced quickly, and they fixed our oven when it didn't work correctly. Only complaint prior to move out was that when we moved it, it was dirty. Makeup all over the bathroom walls and doors, and scuffs on the walls. It wasn't painted between tenants... not possible. Had I reviewed before we moved out, they'd have gotten a better rating. They took $200 from our deposit for random, completely unjustifiable move out charges. $65 for cleaning blinds, $55 for cleaning carpet, $50 for painting. None of these things were told to us before hand... had we know they would charge us to PAINT the place, we wouldn't have touched a wall the whole time we lived there. The place was cleaner when we left than when we got there... so there's no way possible they needed to CHARGE US TO CLEAN IT. SMI is the management company. I wouldn't recommend their properties to anyone because they themselves are not fun to deal with. I've lived in lots of apartments, and always been a good tenant, and NEVER had anyone charge me ANYTHING after move out. NEVER. Overall: If you need a place to live, this place is nice and moderately priced, but DO NOT COUNT ON GETTING YOUR DEPOSIT, even if you do their whole "move out check list" and clean like a majorly Type A crazy person like I do. It's obviously a sham.

The apartments are old and outdated plus they have mold. The apartment manager is so rude and is outright nosey. Avoid these apartments at all costs because once you have bed bugs from these apartments you'll carry them on you to work giving the bugs to your coworkers, you'll carry them on you to your family and friends homes giving them bugs, and you'll carry the bugs with you where ever you move next. Fact: Bed bugs don't always leave bit marks on a person so don't let the apartment manager manipulate you. Don't believe me...Google Bed Bugs and do the research!

Very family friendly and pet friendly. They are doing a holiday event for families and pets which is letting kids and pets meet Santa in their office for free photo ops. Absolutely sweet of them to do that! We had a pumpkin carving contest in October and it was cool to see engagement among the neighbors. I didn't win, by the way! :) Families and kids are pretty nice for the most parts. No complaint there! We wave at each other after warming up to it for a while. Everyone is just trying to be safe and happy. I think overall anyone will have a successful experience here if they are respectful of the super reasonable boundaries set by the office/lease and don't act like immature jerks or special snowflakes.
