Cute bookstore! Great selection of books at reasonable prices. Loved the staff recommendations that were noted throughout, along with recommendations for summer reading depending on the vibe you were looking for. Well worth a visit if you are in the area

We stumbled upon this place in soho and were so impressed by the size and curation of books offered. I love visiting independent bookstores and this is one of the best I've been to! They offer a lot of signed books which is always exciting to pickup. If you are looking for a new bookstore to checkout I'd highly recommend this one.

While walking through the seaport area, I saw a sign in McNally Jackson's window advertising books and wine. This was the first time I stumbled upon a place that had both things I love. If more book stores offered alcoholic beverages, more people would read. At least that is my hypothesis. Perhaps I should delve further into my study. Although I didn't imbibe on this visit, it did bring me in the doors and I am so glad it did. The first floor is half cafe/bar and bookstore, and then there is an upstairs that is all whimsical, cozy bookstore. I got lost in there for a half hour. It was delightful.

1973 publication of Orlando: A Biography by Virginia Woolf

I'm not one that reads much for pleasure; even when I was in school summer reading was always a chore for me. That doesn't stop me from buying books, and if one catches my fancy I'll buy one to add to my shelves (yes, I'm one of those people). With bookstores coming scarce these days (and the pandemic accelerating the depletion), I started to look around to find local, independent booksellers that I can purchase from while also supporting independent businesses. Enter: McNally Jackson. My discovery of McNally Jackson came about as a result of a number of events. A few months back I watched the 1992 Sally Potter film Orlando, and I quickly learned that it was loosely based on Virginia Woolf's 1928 novel of the same name. I loved the film and was curious to explore the book, so I ended up purchasing it from a popular e-commerce website. I was not satisfied with my purchase - the font, binding, and overall look of the book felt cheap, and it was not something I felt like displaying on my bookshelf. I mentioned all these events to my brother who recommended I check out McNally Jackson, since they are both independent booksellers and carry different editions of works. That was enough for me, so I started browsing their website. I learned that they have a number of locations, and when searching for books they give you real-time inventory of what you're looking for at each shop. When searching Orlando I found a 1973 publication of the novel that was available at this Prince Street location, and decided to order it. Since it was going to be difficult or me to pick it up in-store, I decided to have it mailed. The entire process was seamless; the staff kept me in the loop as to when the order would be shipped, and my book arrived very well packed. Overall, I had a great experience with McNally Jackson. They have an interesting selection of books, and I am looking forward to visiting them in person soon to explore even more.

Owned by a Rand McNally Road Map (who knew a road map could own a freaking bookstore), this is one of the highlights of this neighbourhood in many ways. This is an adorable little bookstore in New York City in the heart of Greenwich Village and I come down here all the time when I'm in New York, and many other regulars do too. It's got a local feel to it which you can't really say about the vast majority of bookstores these days. It's expensive, and the big downside is that to use the bathroom in here you have to pay. If that weren't the case I'd have given it 5 stars. But having said that, they do cool little quirky things like printing your own books, or even someone else's book for you if it's not copyrighted. Not cheap to do so, but a very cool service that most don't offer. So all in all I'd say it's a really great place with a very memorable cafe as well.

although I still miss old McNally Jackson book store in Soho, I'd say 5star here. so many books and stationary selections. if you need a cafe, go to downtown Manhattan location. I like Williamsburg location is the best. it's warm atmosphere, blue bottle coffee & vanlueen are the next to it and I can go there and relax after. I've attached pictures I hope it'll help.

Simply love this store. The selection of books, the vibe, the layout and design are all great.

Beautiful little quaint bookshop in the Nolita/Soho area. Find yourself here when you're tired of shopping and need to rest up a bit. Mad props to them for not hating on the squatters in the cafe lol Don't forget to checkout the downstairs area!

Was pleasantly surprised at the curation, variety and scale here. Unique spotlight collections, and a nice mix of less-often-seen stationary and magazines. The featured books stood out more than other shops. Very busy and bustling on weekends, especially in the front.

Large self help section! Great reads

However; the reason why I'm writing this update is because there are some changes at the store. Firstly; the large "Information Desk" at the rear of the first floor is no longer there. Instead, there's a small one on the right side of that floor (and it's almost hidden). Secondly; the huge first floor display of beautiful photo books of NYC and environs is now much smaller (although it seemed like there were more of them on the lower level than previously). There's also another change; the restrooms are now only accessible with a code, and a code can only be obtained via a receipt - so if you don't buy anything, you can't use the restroom (I ordered some books online later, since I didn't want to lug them home from the store). Further; employees don't have access to a bathroom code (obviously they have some other way to access the restrooms). I was there for a few hours - and if it wasn't for the fact that I had a dental appointment nearby afterwards, it would have been problematic. Having said that, I do realize that the restroom situation is an issue; at the Union Square store in particular, there used to be a big problem with homeless people and undoubtedly a corporate decision was made. I'm still keeping a five-star rating because of the employees and because the store has a great selection.

Buying and Selling at Book Off What a cool store. So much to…read moresee. Unfortunately, it is lousy to sell at and expensive to buy at. First, Selling. I brought in three statue items unopened in the original packaging. I checked on ebay for what the items sold for (not asking price but sold price) and it added up to about $600, I lugged the items over there and had to leave them there because they wouldn't get to them right away. The people/kids working there were very nice. I went to have lunch and got the text to return, and they are offering $150. So I picked up the items and turned down the offer. Again, they were very nice, it's just I wasn't willing to accept 25% of the value. I figured at worst it would be 50%. But I am better off getting closer to the actual price on ebay. Now, Buying. Lots of very expensive and exiting things to get, and I didn't have time to price check things so much, but my son is into the Nintendo switch and i spotted a used Marvel VS Capcom game he might like. It was $34.95. But just in case, I pulled up Amazon and looked the game up. A brand new one costs $21.79. So it would have been a terrible idea for me to buy it there. I guess if you are leaving work and need a quick gift, you might stop in and pay too much for an item. If you are in real trouble and don't have time to wait for an Ebay sale, you might consider selling your collectables for 25% the value, this place might come in handy.

Located right across from Bryant Park, it's almost impossible to walk by without going in. It's usually crowded, but that's part of its charm. The store has three levels, each worth exploring. The lower level is where you'll find collectibles, specialty pens, beautiful notebooks and stationery, unique gifts, even more books, and plenty of cute items that will tempt you to spend more than you planned. The book selection is excellent, although I have to admit the prices can be a bit on the higher side. I walked into a store that is essentially one large room, and the density of product on display meant navigating it during a busy period required some patience, but the selection within that compact space was broader than the size suggested. The Korean literature section covers both Korean language and English language editions across a range of genres, which makes it genuinely useful for anyone studying the language or looking for titles that are difficult to find at general bookstores in the city. I saw children's books in Korean, well stocked. The K pop side of the store covers albums, photocards, posters, keychains, stickers, and merchandise across a wide range of artists, with BTS having a particularly strong presence historically alongside newer groups. Pricing runs higher than what I would pay ordering online or finding the same items at a larger retailer, which is the standard trade off for a specialty shop in Manhattan. Album prices in particular can be steep, though sale events bring them down to more competitive territory. Individual accessory items like stickers and bookmarks are priced at a premium relative to their size, so going in with a sense of what I am willing to spend helps avoid sticker shock at the register. The store is a reliable stop for anyone looking for Korean books or K pop merchandise in a physical retail setting in New York, with the caveat that the pricing and the crowd level are both factors worth knowing about before I go.
