Though it might not be the most beautiful mosque I have been to I love the environment. The reason why I didn't give it a five is because it doesn't have the most room but besides that everything I personally love. I would definetely recomend you to go there for Jummah prayer and prayer times. There Eid salah's are so nice. They rent out this place in rock creek park and it is so nice to pray outdoors with the beautiful weather and the nice environment. I love prayer all around Allah's creations and listening to birds while praying all around you is trees and green. I love so many uncountable things about First Hijrah! As I am very proud to be a daughter of someone who had worked in the board group for years. They have just now purchased a new mosque down in Adelphi, Maryland. Please donate to the Mosque because Allah says, " Whoever builds a masjid will have a house in Jannah. " Allah is obviously happy with people who help out with the masjid. I have good experiences at this masjid and feel welcome by the community. There are many beneficial activities and classes being offered weekly and the opportunity to grow in your practice of Islam. No Muslim or community is perfect but if we can train ourselves to focus on the good of the community and be patient with its shortcomings, maybe Allah will transform the shortcomings into good. It's more spacious than other masjids in the area that I've been to…read more The parking is meh, but you can find additional parking across the street at the church (honestly, I'd just park there in order to avoid wasting time looking for parking at the masjid, unless you arrive waaaayyy early). They have a lot of different programs and events at this masjid. More events and lectures than I've seen at other masjids in the area. I am not familiar with the leadership or management of the masjid so I can't really comment on those factors, not yet at least. It's a good masjid to check out. With Ramadan coming up, it should be a lot of events happening here. I'll update after Ramadan with any thoughts on how that experience is.

They also have an awesome convenience store with Turkish goods as well as a store for Islamic related items including books for nonbelievers but those interested in learning more about the faith The campus is absolutely gorgeous, and I wouldn't be surprised if they had weddings and photoshoots here. All in all I think it's pretty cool that this towering masjid is straight up in the middle of suburban Maryland, and I think this is a great place to learn about islam, and find other members of faith in the DMV area!

HOWEVER, a lot of the staff working in places like the cultural center are very stand offish and nonchalant. We inquired about an event and the young lady working the desk didn't seem to enthusiastic to help. When you greet someone with salaam, they seem hesitant to return it. Not sure if it's a cultural thing with Turkish individuals but we did NOT feel welcomed there. I wanted to visit the gift shop with my family, but the first time it was closed until 11am. We waited until 11:15am and no one was even in there. Then we went again but apparently there was some electrical work being done. When I asked when they would be open, they worker looked at his watch and seemed to guess 2pm. It definitely seemed as if he guessed. Why look at your watch first? We did not return. Lastly, finding information on events such as Eid are a nightmare. The items in the gift shop website are not the same as in store. Just seems beautiful but severely unorganized and lacks compassion. It's a no for us.
