Back in the spring I did a painting class here where they gave us a piece of plywood board and a stencil that said spring has sprung and we got to paint it and decorate it with anything- it was great! Then just recently Pinnovate celebrated their first birthday party. At their birthday their was complimentary goodies from cobs bakery, complimentary ice cream or gelato from Fiasco gelato, pizza from coco brooks and coffee from rosso coffee roasters. They also were making balloon animals. We could visit and tour the store and paint complimentary cards with water colors. It was great!

Front desk staff was friendly and checked in was uneventful. Parking can be tight. Busy and the underground parking space is so small and definitely looking for a space at the outdoor parking area if you are driving a car bigger than mid size. There is a plaza across the street that has a sizable grocery store and some fast food joint in case you need to pick up some supplies.

A lot of time I feel that hotel rooms are a bit on the dark side but there was plenty of lighting around the room. The only quibble I have about the bathroom is that when you're showering water splashes onto the floor. I guess that's what the bath mat is for. Depending on where I am going to spend time in Calgary I may or may not stay here again, just because it is a bit further from downtown.

The linens, centerpieces, cutlery, and glassware were often barely washed -- sometimes not washed at all. It's shocking this stuff goes out to weddings and events. But the worst part was the environment. According to my family member, Mike constantly treated the workers horribly -- most of them underage, by the way -- and labeled them as 'contractors' so he didn't have to pay proper overtime, even when shifts ran 12+ hours. And what really put me off? Hearing how some staff, including management, openly made fun of customers and even tossed around slurs when talking about them. Completely unprofessional and honestly disgusting. If you care about basic hygiene or human decency, there are MUCH better companies you can go with in Calgary.

Shannon was lovely and kind however the execution of our wedding was very poor and the promises made were not followed through. We hired Shannon for day-of coordination. The details we discussed and shared with vendors were not executed, the room set up was terrible and the chair rentals we received were unstable and very poor quality. Some details are: 1) we had to move our wedding indoors due to poor weather, the arch was placed in the corner of the room with terrible views of our ceremony 2) the rings were overlooked and almost missed our ceremony after text communication with Shannon throughout the morning 2) the dessert was put out before dinner 3) our welcome drink was put out minutes before us walking down the aisle even though it was planned to be out at least half an our earlier 4) the decor was not put out as requested and more details we are happy to share. Shannon put together a detailed timeline with details I provided and didn't seem to reference what was communicated. When we sent an email to discuss, we received reasoning behind each concern however we did not receive a call or any discussion around accountability for our concerns. We understand there are always different perspectives however we paid for a service we did not receive. Overall we were really disappointed and hope other couples have a much better experience that we did.

"All gyms have treadmills", you say? What about them? Treadmills arent for running. They are HUMAN HAMSTER WHEELS! Now that you all know my opinion about treadmills, on to my review about the Shawnessy YMCA. Other than the running track, I also love the basketball courts, the swimming pools, etc. I especially like the layout of the gym area. The running track surrounds the weights area, which I find amazing because it allows me to do a quick yet very effective workout, combining high intensity cardio with weights consecutively without long periods of rest, which I LOVE. I wish more gyms in this city had this exact layout! The only thing keeping me from giving this 5 stars? The fact that the classes included with memberships dont sound very interesting. I wish they offered more classes included with membership, because around $70 for basic isnt exactly peanuts, and I'd rather not pay extra for classes. There are other gyms in the city which offers loads of classes free with membership, and they are priced the same, or more competitively than YMCA. Maybe I'm paying for the running track, hmmm... I used to always love this YMCA but recently I have been feeling unsafe here as the train station is so close by I think a lot of homeless people come here as I have seen people sleeping inside before. As well, the high school is attached so I do't necessarily enjoy going here during the day. It is so busy and impossible to get parking. Quarry Park is a new beautiful location and is not near a train station and does not have a high school attached.

Herb and his colleagues have been absolutely fantastic to work with. Challenges and miscommunications (if any - and almost always my fault) are sorted out quickly, and as for the food - always the best quality in preparation and presentation. #2 - My company runs a bi-monthly seminar for almost six years. Just this past summer we found ourselves in need of a new venue. We require seating for 50-75, while we host three guest speakers and some networking in between talks. Once again, Herb, Rita, Margaret and team continue to deliver first class service, food and an atmosphere that is really hard to beat anywhere else in the city. In closing, it's important to note, that none of our clients, guests or seminar attendees have ever given a single piece of negative feedback. Everything has been extremely positive. To all the team at Willow Park Golf and Country Club, thank you for such attentive and consistent service over the past 5 years. You have our sincere gratitude.

This is a beautiful new facility! They have a great pool and library. The library is a little…read moresmaller tan the other Calgary Public Libraries that I have been to in the city but none the less it is still a good library. The only thing I think that this library does not have is the stationary computers that you can print fro because with you library card you get $5.00 of free printing a month and I couldn't find a printer for that here. Also their kid zone is a little smaller than the others. They have great programs. One program that I went to on a Thursday was the science program that is in the afternoon and they did a segment on optical illusions!

They also have a universal locker space which is shared by all genders and ages. The YMCA offers plenty of swim classes, but relatively low number of options for land classes given the price of the memberships. The Remington YMCA building is also home to the Quarry Park library which is quite lovely. You do not need a membership with the YMCA to access it.
