I have…read morewatched many loved ones go through the process of accepting they cannot maintain their own care at home and must begin looking for an assisted living facility. Accepting this reality can bring up many feelings for all involved - fear, anger, sadness, and helplessness. However, the minute we stepped inside American Heritage for our tour, the staff greeting us made us feel right at home. The Director of Nursing, Amanda, was phenomenal. Her caring actions demonstrated her commitment to listening to, and meeting, our needs, wants, and feelings. In addition to her medical expertise, she provided detailed explanations that eased everyone's anxiety. The rest of the staff are highly professional and caring, and will go the extra mile to assist you in any way they can. The owner of the facility, Nancy, is deeply involved and cares greatly for the residents and employees. It is evident in the atmosphere in the home that she leads with a positive, caring attitude (i.e. trickle-down effect). In and of itself, the home deserves a review. The house is located in a beautiful neighborhood near parks, trails, shopping, and various restaurants for you and your loved one to explore together. Its interior is breathtakingly beautiful, exceptionally clean, and equipped with modern safety features. And did I mention that there is an on-site chef?! If you or a loved one is looking for assisted living, look no further. I promise you won't be disappointed.

They were also able to get my mom to do activities, which the other two places she lived were not able to do, which made us feel like she was part of community. They also asked us questions to get to know mom better, at meals they would sit with the residents and talk about their families or interests, it was very nice to feel like they were trying to get to know mom. Every time we asked mom if she liked it there, her response was always, "I really like it here" Toward the end for my mom, my sisters and I spent a lot of time in her room. The staff was amazing to us, brought us snacks, water, coffee, etc. They also would stop by her room and check on her and us to make sure there wasn't anything we needed. At the same time they gave us our privacy during a very difficult time. When my mom passed, I was pleased with how many people came in and told us something about how mom touched their lives. I am so happy that we chose BLC for my mom!

He thrived there and therapy was wonderful. The aides were so nice to him and great to us as a family when we had question. That was 2 1/2 years ago, since that time my father has had not one but two strokes and spent 5 months a Benedictine trying to get back to whatever is to be his new normal. We were very unsure if he would even walk again. My father is now in an assisted living facility and doing very well. No he is not what he used to be but thanks to therapy and the help of the nursing staff and aides at Benedictine his is able to walk and do many more things than we ever thought possible. They are amazing people that do amazing things for the residents that live there. They have a tough job but always found time to cheer him up and on. Without them I am sure he would not be were he is. Thank you all at Benedictine for making his life better, and know this if he ever has to make a nursing home his permanent place to live he would want it to be at Benedictine.

I was on the waiting list for Summit Place. However, I was turned away due to not being a good fit because of my allergies to mold. (I had chosen Summit Place due to the large, heated swimming pool). So, I did a 2nd tour at The Waters of Eden Prairie. Staff was welcoming and had an opening, a RENOVATED one bedroom with a washer/dryer. The apartment is gorgeous, clean, and inviting. The LVP flooring in the kitchen and bathroom is what I dreamed about. I felt truly cared for. (BTW, if accepted at The Waters of Eden Prairie, I can obtain a pool and gym membership for $70 monthly at Summit Place). I am looking forward to the many outings and activities at The Waters of Eden Prairie. Such as the pet therapy visits, hand massages, manicures, bingo, drumming exercises, visits by the River Valley Dance Academy, music, movies, book club, happy hour, and art classes.

She was also treated terribly by some staff. Makes me incredibly sad they would keep staff who are so neglectful and abusive after they were reported. They chose to just not have them work with her. There were a few very good aides and kitchen staff were extremely kind and helpful. I write this as a warning to others. It was not possible to give less than one star.
