He showed up on time was friendly and looked at what was needed. He said that it was no problem and got right to work. The job was completed quickly, neatly and he cleaned up when he was done. As it turns out, there was something weird about the original wiring of the house that prevented the newly-installed thermostats from sending their signals to the oil burner and we only realized it once the weather turned cold and the heating wasn't working.
