I had a massive hike preceding a long weekend of sports so full body muscle soreness; in addition I tend to have constant neck pain which gives me all-day headaches. I was just looking to get a quick fix on the weekend soreness and had remembered recently looking at a Facebook post mentioning Maple Ridge Massage Therapy Clinic had some fantastic RMTs so I made an appointment with Jacob Anderson, a RMT at the clinic. I walked in and was nervous on my last minute decision because the clinic wasn't 100% aesthetically pleasing but I was greeted positively, swept into my appointment on time, had a quick 5 minute conversation with Jacob regarding exactly what I wanted to get from the appointment, followed by him giving me a mini game-plan describing how he was going to make that happen. He had such great relaxing tunes, I like having occasional spurts of commentary but not the entire time and he read my social cues perfectly, he was an incredible RMT and knew exactly what he was doing, it was very sports-massage esque which is what I needed; I was just overall impressed. I walked away less bodily sore and my neck felt great, I didn't have headaches for days (which is fantastic for me). He had small feasible recommendations of what I should do to improve my neck and back. It was also reasonably priced for the hour I booked for. Alex is amazing! He always gets all of the pressure points exactly, which is why I got the package in the first place. I've come back with my husband (11 times) and we have used up our package, so we purchased another one to share! She worked on it with a combination of hot stones, her hands and other tools - tuning forks, different bells that are new to me - and for the first time in ages it is pain free and I have full range of motion back. If you're used to "traditional" Swedish or other massages, some of what Roxanne does will be unfamiliar and seem a bit strange. If you can trust that she knows what she's doing (which she does) and experience it, at the very least you will have tried something new but likely, you will feel the benefit. If you don't want those things however - just tell her! She listens well and constantly seeks education on new techniques and healing massage therapy approaches. She also checks in throughput the session to make sure the pressure and other aspects are comfortable and acceptable. Besides that she is kind and generous with her time and knowledge.
