Wonderful book store with a knowledgable proprietor. I have browsed the outside tables when he is not open (talk about small town charm & trust) so I was delighted to return to browse the entire shop. There are some great local books -- I have the Beaufort guide by Bill Reynolds & Davis Folsom which is so helpful for touring the area. Quaint bookstore right in the heart of downtown Beaufort filled with books old and new. One of the only spots to pick up novels written by local authors, and they also have a large section on books that take place in the Lowcountry. They have tons of original first editions of classics for purchase - all for a very fair price. I purchased 6 books and two postcards for $27; and the clerk gave me a few bookmarks too complimentary. You must stop in here if you are a book work like me. read more

Located on Bay Street amongst art galleries and restaurants, this place will be a stop you'll have to take while walking the riverfront area. Lots of copies of local and statewide authors mixed with many other great pieces of literature. Check out their rare books collection as well as all their leather bound classics. This place is a used and rare book store. All kinds of books are here! and the really cool old book smell. Just like going to grandmas house! The building isn't very large but it is stacked from floor to ceiling with the most amazing collection of books. My wife and I found books over 150 years old, just for the buying. If you have the cash! alot of south carolina history, Pat Conroy and Archibald Rutledge books. found out they will do special orders if you like. One drawback is the price isn't always available on certain books. Had to take them to the counter to get a price. No big deal but it was a hassle. So if you are in Beaufort for the day or if you live there, enjoy this little book treasure! read more
