I had been a loyal client of this tax company since 2017. Not only did I trust them with my…read morebusiness, but I went the extra mile to bring them to my brow classes as a special host, where they educated my students on taxes. Many of my students became their clients, which was great for their business--thanks to me. Fast forward to 2024, when I experienced a life-changing car accident. I had to pause their services temporarily because I wasn't sure if I'd even be able to work again, let alone pay for taxes. After a few months of recovery, I was ready to restart our services. But instead of welcoming back a loyal, long-term client, I was slapped in the face with an outrageous demand: my rate would jump from $610 a month to $995 and they insisted I prepay the remainder of the year and all of 2025--an insane total of $9,760! It honestly felt like they just wanted to fire me as a client. To make things worse, they marked my business as SUSPENDED after terminating me as a client. Oh and wait, when I asked to speak to the owner, Louie Vasquez, someone I had trusted for years, they flat-out told me he doesn't handle this anymore and I wouldn't be able to talk to him. After everything I had done for this company, they didn't even have the decency to let me have a conversation with the person I had worked with from the start. This company clearly doesn't care about loyalty, nor do they value their long-standing clients. They're more interested in squeezing as much money out of people as they can. If you're looking for a company that cares about you or your business--look elsewhere.

I was so excited to visit my beloved campus... but here's a twist... UCI Applied Innovation is not located on the main campus. It is hidden away towards the back office buildings in the outskirts of the campus. Look out for a Starbucks and you are in the correct parking lot. They are located on the second floor. The venue is a great place to host events with a main floor for individual speakers to present or even for a panel. My only slight commentary is that there is so separation between the speaker and the audience with the outside people coming in and out, so the external volume can overwhelm some of the more meek speakers. From an exhibitor point of view, I really liked that all of the tables and chairs were set up prior to the event with the Company Name labelled on a sheet of paper on top. We were allowed to come an hour in advanced to set up. Exhibitors lined along the edge of UCI Applied Innovations for attendees to visit in parallel or in between the presentations. There is also this convenient back area where we were spoiled with breakfast pastries and fruits in the morning, salad and sandwiches at lunch and ultimately an ice cream social at the conclusion of the event. I am so proud of UCI and the support they put into the future. I am looking forward to future events at UCI Applied Innovations whether it is an event through work or one of those other freebie events they host to promote innovations.
