Studio 500 used to be my go-to local hair salon for a friendly, reliable service. They have four…read moreprice levels for blow-dries; one for short hair, one for medium length, one for long, one for extra long. When I realised this upon paying after my last visit, as I was being charged for the "long hair" price, I asked in what I thought was a polite tone how they classify the various lengths. I'm pretty sure I have what most people would consider short-ish hair - it sits right on my shoulders. Standing at the front counter, apparently my query was audible to the rest of the staff. Two senior stylists turned around immediately to state that the short hair price applied only to very short hair, "like a pixie cut" (as though I was demanding to be charged the short hair price, which I wasn't.) I didn't bother splitting hairs over what constituted "mid-length". Considering the difference in price being debated was only a few dollars, I just wanted to escape the hair police. I left, thinking, surely that amount of money is not worth arguing about with a repeat customer who's spent a small fortune at your business over the years. I now get blow-dries at a salon in Chatswood where hair length is more simply categorised into short and long options.

She listens to what the client wants and at the same time gives helpful advice. Some hairdressers are inclined to treat their clients as though they all have the same type of hair. Katrina understood what kind of hair I have and therefore could deal with it appropriately. I had many compliments about my hair after my last visit and was happy to answer the question as to which hairdresser I had visited and also to name Katrina as someone I would recommend. Jan Myers

Blow dry bars are a great concept and something I use all the time to get ready for events. $40 and…read more30 mins is typically all you need to be occasion ready. I have my favourite close to home but I was in Sydney for a wedding and an early flight meant I had to try somewhere local. Blowdry Boutique is my first bad experience with a blow dry salon. The service here is just downright rude. The floors were filthy and covered in hair. The seats are crammed so tightly together that I kept coping hot air in the face from the hairdryer being used on the person next to me. By the time my appointment should have been done and dusted and family came to collect me, I was still sitting in the chair with wet hair with no indication of when anyone was coming to do my hair as no one had spoken to me in the 30+ mins I had been there. Finally someone came over and said they had someone call in sick so were a bit busy. Ok, fine this happens - but had anyone actually bothered to speak to me when I came to reception I could have had this expectation set and let my family know. I could have probably forgiven this as just a bad day for staff, except that the blowdry itself was incredibly rushed and absolutely nothing like what I asked for. I had asked for curls through the ends - there was a slight bend that didn't even last the walk to the car. Essentially I paid $40 for my hair to be clean which I could have done myself. The hairdresser also covered my hair in dry shampoo while it was wet - a completely pointless exercise and just shows that they really don't know what they're doing here. It's called dry shampoo for a reason, it doesn't work on wet hair except to potentially clump up like talc and water does. Not somewhere I would give a second chance.

Was so excited to try Blowdry Boutique out, but was sorely disappointed. I expected a little bit…read moremore of a loving head wash, but let that go. Then it came to the blowdry. I waited at first, they seemed understaffed- granted, it was a Saturday. When she seemed to be finished blowdrying I couldn't believe it as I felt as if she had barely done anything. My hair just felt dry and not how it should feel after a heated blowdry- straight/body/shiny etc. I might as well have done it at home ‍ Disappointed as the essence of a blowdry 'boutique' is not captured in the finished product.

They're fabulous. I have been a client of Rogers for more than seven years now and I still don't have the itch. It could be said that I am fond of a change, so over the years Rog has teased, sculpted, chopped, combed and most importantly tszujed me in all manner of styles. We've channelled Posh (that in itself is a category), we've done the Gwynnie, we flirted briefly with a Jessie J but alas it's hard to carry a candle around with 24/7 to make me look young enough to get away with it. My only slight gripe is that I pay nearly double ($90) what my husband pays and currently his hair is the same length. HHHmmm but ya know that isn't just particular to this salon, it's a larger problem. From classic to edgy they do it all and you can have a right good natter at the same time. Appointments advised but not necessary.

I understand this salon has been there for well over a decade. The service is friendly and quick. It was a busy day and, I was glad they could accommodate me. I have been a client of Stephen for a long time and have always liked his styling and of course his friendly demeanour. Expect to pay salon prices and bookings are necessary. A great place for a cut and I am sure many other hair related services.
