I Have been working with some of the clients at Mcgees for years now and it's a great place and they take very good care of the guys that live there.... But when you have that many people in one place you can't make everyone happy all the time.... the nurse on staff her are fantastic with the guys.... sometimes there is only one person on duty and can't leave to go pick up one resident that left the facility... Mcgees is the one place that will take resident's other facility rejected..... if it's wasn't for Mcgees alot of these guys would be on the streets..... read more

My brother has been a resident of McGee's for over 33 years. They are "family" to him, and we are so thankful to them. He is well taken care of; his apt. is kept clean, he's fed 3 meals a day plus snacks, has friends there and has many freedoms. The employees that I met and have dealt with are kind and caring. I am in regular contact with the owner, and we have a social worker that takes him out twice per week for outings/doctor's appointments. He is extremely mentally challenged. McGee's is a Godsend for us as if it weren't for McGee's, my brother would be walking the streets; I can sleep at night knowing he is well taken care of; I highly recommend looking into McGee's if you have a special needs individual looking for this type of full-time care/living arrangement. read more

I so agree with the previous posting. My experience was with a thing the resident's call, "McGee. This means if they have disagreements they are just allowed to slug it out. When they are given money, it is placed in a "trust" and then doled out a little each day. They can purchase a can of soda from the facility for $1. Don't be deceived by the country look and open spaces. read more

I had a situation today where I came upon a man on a busy road wandering aimlessly down the middle. He had a cane and could barely walk. We stopped to help and fed him what we purchased at McDonald's since he said he was hungry. As the traffic started to move a woman passing drove by and yelled he lives at this home. We called and was met on the phone by a very emotionless woman. I explained the man's situation and described him. She said he lived there but wasn't going to come get him. He REALLY REALLY NEEDED HELP! I asked many times and she said she can't stop him from leaving and wasn't going to come help nor send anyone to help. She very coldly told us to call 911 and have them "deal" with it. I said I would give him a ride but as 2 women alone with kids couldn't. She said again to call the cops and proceeded to give me his entire name?! I believe there are laws against that as well due to confidentiality. I did call the police as did several others apparently. My point to this is someone is PAYING FOR these heartless people to provide CARE for this man. He could have been struck and killed very easily. My friend and I were appalled and completely in tears knowing what he was living like. This man needed a shower badly and food according to him. Think twice before using these people for your loved ones. Next call is the state! read more
