Especially considering I have an issue where I metabolize medication too quickly, making it far less effective, and making me need higher doses of everything, which does not go over well in the ERs. I had to become used to the fact that if I were going to an ER visit or a hospitalization, I was going to end up going home in worse condition then when I had gotten there, pain-wise. I was told that this place would be different in hospice is different, but I still expected it when I came here a couple nights ago. I was met with absolutely nothing but the opposite of everything I just described. All this time, I've been wondering where all of the good-hearted people, who got into medicine to help others to heal their pain, judgement free, had gone, and I seem to have stumbled upon them right here at the Franciscan hospice House. I can't say enough how amazing each and every person who works here is, and I wish I could recognize it in a way where I'm able to give back some of what they've given me, but posting my truth on the on this internet website will just have to do. All my dozens of ER visits and hospitalizations I have experienced in my adult life, made me feel like I was doing something wrong when I needed and asked for some kind of pain control, to the point where I was ashamed to even ask. I unlearned that behavior here, and I don't know if I could have gone on without that changing. I found no nefarious actions, or questionable intentions in anything that is done here by any of the people who work here, it's just good people. I was unaware they still existed. It's like finding a freaking unicorn on a bit stunned and unsure of what to do next, but this seems like the right step. I almost don't want to make any sudden movements and in fear that it might spook them and everything will go back to the hellish ways that I'm used to. If you're considering getting their services, my only advice is stop waiting and just do it, because for me, nothing but good came out of it. Were hired to provide hospice care for…read moremy Uncle Mark the nurse was rude and annoyed to working during the holidays , didn't wear a mask during visits (it was Dec. 2022) , gave so much Haldol that Mark was hallucinating and aggravated for 12 hours. He was mentally sharp, articulate and ready to pass away , as he had three forms of cancer. The only thing he requested were his pain killers ( which he was never into , even after previous surgery's ) . The only one worth their salt , was the delivery driver. Who was compassion and helpful in explaining how the medical equipment works and dangers of oxygen tanks in confined areas. Do not use these people for hospice, choose a smaller local company. Stay safe and protect your loved ones and your self from unnecessary harm.

After my mom passed, Assured called me a few times just to check in, offer resources for bereavement and also sent a very beautiful card signed by all staff. This has been the most difficult time in my life losing my mom but working with Assured made it a lot less scary and overwhelming. Thank you for all you do!

Both staff and volunteers at this hospice center are true angels. My family is eternally indebted. The Gene & Irene Wockner Hospice Center is the only freestanding hospice center in King and Snohomish counties. The beautiful Cape Cod-style facility was designed to be as home-like as possible, consistent with safety, security and excellent medical care. The Center's 15 private patient rooms include sleeping spaces for visitors, a private bath with shower, TV and a wardrobe closet. Each room opens to an outdoor patio with a view of the park-like gardens. The gardens include a lush courtyard with a waterfall, a children's play area and walking paths through the rose and alpine gardens. Families and friends can visit at any time, and children are very welcome. The comfortable family rooms throughout the Center are furnished with sofas and chairs, TV, desks, and telephones. The main family room has a children's corner designed to offer little ones comfort and a place to play. Each wing also has a full kitchen, which allows families to cook special meals if they so choose. The Center is named for Gene and Irene Wockner, whose initial support provided the resources needed to research and plan for the Center. The Wockner family's generosity continues to provide for Evergreen Hospice Services.

I was truly BLOWN AWAY by this place. It is lovely, like, truly attractive, bright, wide hallways…read moreand so much natural light. It was decorated so beautifully for Christmas. All of the staff was super friendly and approachable. And they do their best to be always available but not obtrusive. There are multiple common living room spaces, beautifully appointed with great couches and chairs. There's also a spacious children's play room with lots to keep little ones happy. A large kitchen available to all guests and visitors. They provide coffee and tea. Each patient room has a door leading to the outside, so you can wander the lovely landscaped grounds. The patient rooms themselves are great, with a couch, an extended bench seat in the giant window, and a recliner that is also set up so that more mobile patients can use the recliner or their bed. It always felt bright and calm and lovely. A dear dear family friend spent her last weeks here. She had been VERY scared about going into hospice, as the place where her own mother had died 40 years ago had been terrible. But we read great reviews about this place and are so glad she chose it. The only downside for us personally was location, as it's on the eastside and we're not. But this was definitely worth the 20-30 minute drive from Shoreline/Seattle. You can visit 24 hours a day, you just need to sign in at the front desk (and sign out when you leave). That's really a security measure (in case there's a fire or other emergency, the staff will know how many people are in the building). They took great care of our friend and it was such a bright lovely place to be. It was wonderful to get to spend time visiting our friend. Even when she had lost consciousness, mostly, for her final days, it still felt like a welcoming place to visit and actually SPEND TIME in (rather than the cold/clinical feeling of hospital rooms). We'd bring our knitting or embroidery and some girlfriends and have a "stitch and bitch" session with our friend in her room, even when she wasn't able to respond, we knew our presence was felt and welcomed. Or we'd watch a movie together. It really was like visiting her in a very nice apartment. Thank you to all the staff. If you have a loved one in need of care in their final days, this place is fantastic. They even had a therapy dog come visit the patients sometimes. Our friend, who hadn't responded to anything for two days, totally lit up and smiled, especially when we used her hand to pet the dog. They let the dog get up and sleep on her bed next to her for awhile. Lovely

We are here for loved ones end of life care. They also keep the family informed of resident's needs and medication changes. They ensure resident and family are comfortable. We are very lucky that our dog is able to be here. The room is cozy. There is a community kitchen. living room, playground, and large sitting area for families. A wonderful, stress free setting for a difficult time.

They don't make you feel like you're bothering them when you need something. No matter what you are having them do. Cleaning you up, getting ice water, or just opening the blinds. There is 1 nurse on the night shift which is very grouchy and rude. She gets off at 10:30pm and i called to be changed and she said "Your couldn't wait for 10 minutes to push your button. Excuse me if I dont know your schedule and I can't control my bowels. Maybe she shouldn't be taking care of elderly patients.

After 2 cancellations due to staffing pushing the assessment out a week my loved one had a medical emergency that required immediate attention so we called Continuum Hospice and they came out that day and assessed our needs and were able to supply us with the equipment and care needed. With that being said, I would avoid Gentiva when looking for hospice care for your loved one. They simply don't have the staffing to provide the prompt care required for someone on hospice.
