When I was planning my trip to Prague, someone recommended a "ghost tour". They said it had been very interesting, but unfortunately they couldn't remember the name of the business. Searching for ghost tours in Prague, I came across the Ghosts and Legends of Old Town tour by McGee. I don't know if it was the same company that the person had used, or if there are other ghost tour companies in Prague.
The Ghosts and Legends tour has a 7pm tour, as well as a 9pm tour April to October. I decided that if I wasn't too exhausted, I would go on the tour my very first night in Prague in order to see a little bit of the city and get an idea of where things are. And despite being up for over 24 hours and getting punched in the face by a psycho on the metro, I wasn't tired and had enough energy to go out that evening.
I arrived at the ticket office with just five minutes to spare before the 7pm tour (the office can be tricky to find, as it's tucked away in a narrow corridor between two buildings near the Old Town Square). At 300 CZK/€12, it wasn't outrageously expensive, but I felt that the tour wasn't really worth the price. While the tour guide was very good, I was underwhelmed. The stories were more cheesy than intriguing, and I didn't walk away feeling that I had gotten much out of it. I don't regret going on the tour (it was nice to see a bit of the city and do something low key my first night), but it's not something I would highly recommend, particularly if your time is limited. The company offers other tours, and perhaps those are more interesting. read more
