The baseball diamond is partially surrounded by a almond orchard that is in full bloom. The infield and outfield grass is a deep emerald green form all our recent rains. Plenty of nice seating in the bleachers behind home plate. Parking was at a premium because they're was a girls softball tournament being held today as well. All the fields are well groomed, many teams are precipitating from throughout the county in these well run tournaments Shafter is a growing community with competitive sports teams.Take in a game and support your local high schools sports teams you won't be disappointed.

Cesar Chavez is a wonderful Magnet School. The Magnet program here is for the Sciences. It is a K…read morethrough 6 elementary school and one of the highest rated in town. They bus kids in from all over the place for the Magnet, but the wait list is long, so sign up early (like seriously at birth) to ensure your kid a spot. My daughter did Transitional kinder here with Mrs. Furr, and this year tested at 2nd grade level in reading and 1st grade level in math. Last year I would pick her up from Magnet and she would teach me all about bats, snakes, the water cycle, insects, you name it. It was wonderful to pick her up everyday and see the happiness on her face. The teachers and staff really love the kids and care about their education and development. I can't say enough good things about the school. It is a wonderful and safe place to educate your child and I recommend it highly.

Tonight I attended EBHS's play Grease. They had a small "consignment" where they sold chips, candy, and THEE cutest themed cookies (wished I would have taken a picture before I devoured one of them!). I bought 3 cookies, two for my kiddos and one for me. We were given a program of the play and we quickly chose our seats. We got aisle seats on the middle left side of the auditorium. Before the play started, (as usual) I had to use the restrooms. Being at a school function I was a bit worried that it would be not up to par, but it was clean and all necessities were well stocked! The play started promptly at 7pm. The students and staff did an amazing job! Was this really a school play? They looked like pros! The costumes were on-point, and the stage looked like it was out of a professional Broadway play. Great job everybody! Now, I had to take a star because of the sound. Although you can tell the kids knew their songs and had angelic voices, it could not overtake the bad speaker sound. At many times it was hard to understand what they were saying while singing. Other than that, the play was great!

I tried in 8th grade to get her tested for dyslexia but was pushed off until school ended. Then tried at Liberty high to get her tested where again was pushed off until school ended. Now at only 2 weeks of the start of school year, Frontier high school has already been working on getting her tested. They have welcomed my child with opened arms & truly made us feel at ease. They made us feel heard & are moving quickly to get her the tools she needs to succeed. Everyone gave us a warm welcome. They are not mask Nazi's either for those who cant wear a mask. They dont hound you about, make you feel bad or treat you like a 2nd class citizen.
