My new truck had a large dent in it. I took it to a regular body shop, who said they would need to repaint the entire fender where the dent was, the side mirror and part of the door. They said I should try Mc Dowells, as there was no crack in the paint. I spoke with the lady at the counter and she looked at my truck. She said they will probably be able to get it back to 90 or 95% of the way it should be. I decided to go with this option and not use my insurance. I also told her about some scratches on the other side of the truck, she said she would have the guys look at it. The scratches were approximately 1 foot in length and fairly deep. They were able to schedule me for the following week and called to remind me the day before. When I went to pick up my truck I looked at it in the parking lot and was happy that the dent was gone. I couldn't even tell anything had been wrong with the truck which was amazing since she said it probably wouldn't be more than 90 to 95% back to the way it was. I went inside to pay my bill and get my keys. The lady behind the counter was ringing up my bill when a man behind the counter said, "Is that your Toyota?" I told him it was mine and he seemed very excited he said he wanted to show me something. He walked me out to my truck and asked me if I remembered where the scratches had been. He showed me the area that they were in and they were completely gone! They were so deep and I could feel The ridge when I ran my hand over it. They were completely gone. He told me his technician told him that he could get them out but he didn't think he could. So the technician bet him that he could get the scratches out and this guy told him to go ahead and try. Needless to say the technician went to bed and my scratches were completely gone. I'm incredibly happy with the service from McDowells! To top it all off they didn't even charge me for the scratch removal!!! If you have scratches or dents that you think you're stuck with take it to these guys and let them give it a try I figured there was no way my truck would look new again and I drove it home looking perfect!! First of all, I am not a reckless driver who gets into a lot of accidents... but my adorable royal blue BRZ is a magnet for other reckless people! That being said, a grown-ass bicyclist, who was racing down the sidewalk, ran into my car while I was at a stop sign! He said it was a new bike and he hadn't figured out the brakes! Anyway, I was furious, but my level-headed husband said to check on dent repair specialists, and I found McDowells! I took my car down, they gave me the estimate, which was much less than taking it to a body shop, and told me to bring it in the next work day. I dropped it off in the morning, and it was done by lunch time! They also repaired other dings and impressions made by shopping carts and doors of other irresponsible and rude people. The car looks as good as new now! I am still simmering mad, but not like I was when I was driving around with the dent for two days. So much better than a body shop, where you have to leave it for a week or so, and pick up a car painted with paint that never quite matches. Today I picked up my newly upholstered rocker. It looks so amazing!!! And it is crazy comfortable with new foam padding. I came so close several times to caving when others told me I should "just pitch it" (the chair was looking pretty rough and lived in the garage for years). But the chair was special - my dad bought it for me at a farm auction when I was a little girl. Over the years it suffered a broken arm piece and received a bad upholstery job. Kelly pointed me to the perfect fabric that would feel like the original vintage but compliment my other furniture. As for the wood frame, the skilled crew stripped down the poor paint job (a bad choice in my younger years!) and doweled the broken arm piece - plus sanded back to the wood and finished with a stain that was so appropriate for the piece. I couldn't be more happy - I smile so big when I look at it and know my dad is smiling too (from afar). And - AND - the cost was very reasonable and much less than I feared. I can't tell you how impressed I am with McDowells Specialty Repairs. I found them on the internet with top ratings. I then asked a friend who knew of them and also gave them rave reviews. When I went in, I was immediately greeted with courtesy, respect and eagerness to help in any way they could. As a single woman, this is not always the case when you are dealing with automobiles. They gave me an estimate for my repairs and it was suggested that I might want to contact my insurance company, something I had not thought of. My car's fender looks just as good as new after McDowell's Repair worked on it. Someone in a parking lot left a very serious door ding in my car's fender. I tried getting rid of the other car's paint left behind using rubbing compound. This took away the dirt/wrong color paint, but I had to rub so hard I scratched the clearcoat of my own car. I took it to McDowell's/Dent Doctor for an estimate. The person who looked at it actually brought out some polish and worked on it for a bit, and took out most of the scratches from the clear coat (no charge!), and assured me that a good buffing would restore the clearcoat. I went ahead and signed up to get the dent removed. I took it in first thing the morning of the appointment. They wanted it for most of the day, but actually got it done just a couple hours later. The dent was completely, 100% gone. I went home and buffed the area some more with some good polish, and now my fender looks perfect again. read more

I can't say enough wonderful things about everybody at McDowell's. I have used them on two separate occasions. The first time was a year ago for some upholstery repair on my car. They were fast and did a wonderful job, even when the repair did not go as planned they honored their original quote. The second time was when I needed a dent removed. They were honest about how much they could fix using the paintless dent removal. Once they got to work, they realized it was not going to be repaired to their standards. They found another body shop contacted them, got a quote and brought the car back to me, so I could schedule with the body shop. They did not charge me for the work they did. Nate repaired two minor dents that were found on my new truck immediately after I took delivery from a dealership in Weiser. The dealership had advised they would need to remove the door to fix one of the dents and they'd need my new truck for at least two days. I am in Boise and the travel time to Weiser, along with gas and mileage on a new vehicle, was unacceptable. I asked for a second opinion and they referred me to McDowells. After an initial examination of the dents at their Boise shop, an appointment was scheduled for approximately 10 days later to make the repairs at my home. So convenient! I had a few soft dents in the quarter panels and a couple of really bad door dings. Bert and his team got it all taken care of and have saved me many hours this winter when I refinish my car. Because I wont have to take as much time using body hammers and fillers. McDowells Specialty Repair is the best. I was trying to find a leather repair place for my grandson's rodeo chaps. I was having no luck and time was running out before the next rodeo. I contacted Melissa of McDowells specialty repair and she said bring them in and will take a look at them. We brought them in and she and Paulie looked them over and said they would repair them the best they could. I asked if they could have them done in less than two weeks as that was the next rodeo date. Melissa said she didn't know, but Paulie said he would have it done. I brought my Miata in for some upholstery work and to take out some minor dings in the body from shopping cars. They did an excellent job. It was necessary to replace the leather seating areas of both seats. Once they stared it was necessary to replace the side areas as well but with no increase in the estimate. Way to go guys. Since there was one minor ding that they were leary of repairing, the final cost was less than the actual estimate. To top it off, I was coming out at near closing time and got caught when the Connector turned into a parking lot. But Matt stayed at the office after closing so I could get my car that day. My 2002 Honda seats needed a little love. After 20 years, time was catching up with the leather seats. I took in my S2000 and spoke to Matt about what needed to be done, cracking of the leather side bolsters on both seats. Matt said that they have one tech that would be the best choice for the job, Chrissy. The interior of the car is all red which makes the color match all the more challenging. It only took two days to complete and Chrissy absolutely nailed it! The interior looks brand new! I could not have asked for a better result. A fender bender in the parking lot brought me back to McDowell's, this time in my 2021 Ram Rebel pickup. Since the paint was not damaged (thanks to the fender flare molding) I had the two small dents removed with their paintless dent repair tools. The truck is fully restored now and it looks like nothing ever happened. Their prices are reasonable and saved me about 25-40% over a traditional body shop repair, which required breaking the factory paint and recoating. This is undesirable in a vehicle which I intend to keep for many years. This shop does high quality work and their prices are reasonable. I highly recommend them. read more

We have a large, leather sectional - it's been a favorite seat in the house for 15 years and while the leather is still gorgeous, the cushions had lost some of their support. I brought my wife's car in for a dent repair and window tinting. I had been referred to McDowell's by a body shop because the dent was on a panel that opens and closes with the convertible top and it wasn't working properly along with being dented. Matt went over the operation of the panel first and found what was wrong. From there, they repaired the dent perfectly and did a professional job on the window tinting. I was looking to trade in my 2000 ford f250, the leather seats were torn the center console was worn and I had put a dent in my tail gate while backing up. I had been told by 2 body shops that my tail gate was toast and couldn't be fixed. Burt (the owner) took my tailgate and made it like new, his techs in the shop gave me a brand new seat and center console cover. Couldn't be happier. My truck looks amazing for less that 1 monthly payment of a new truck. In the spring i will take my 99 acura to get some small dings taken out. Great job at a great price.
