Hot Spot claims to be a coffee shop that serves food as well, but it is so much more than that. In addition to loads of really neat, antiques and artisan goods, they have an event space upstairs that preserve some of the fun and natural character of this really neat building. I didn't try any food this time, but the drink I had got me hooked. If not for the friendly service, the flavor of my salted honey maple latte will definitely bring me back.

They split the paczki btw the 3 of them and they thought it was delish. I always forget about Tom's but it is so close to our house, I need to make a point to remember to stop in more often. I wasn't hungry, but I love that they have a full on food menu - including salads, burgers(!!!), bagels, toasts, paninis, pastries, etc. Plus all the regular coffee items, boba, smoothies, and teas. I went with one of the seasonal specials, the banana bread matcha. It didn't take too long to come out and it was very tasty - not really what I was expecting, but I liked it. They sell whole beans or ground coffee, which is great for those of us who can't get into town as much as we'd like to pick up a coffee. They're a great additional to downtown Rockford, and I'm excited to watch them grow!

It's a certified B corp which means all their ingredients are sustainably and ethically sourced! That's a big plus! The place is so nicely designed with so many places to sit. Big beautiful windows let in lots of sun and natural light. I love sitting outside in the summer taking in the energy of downtown. You can tell this place really puts a lot of effort into caring and supporting their local community! This is the ideal local coffee shop.
