Smh @ This McDonald's. Poor customer service . Front-end employee not trained properly
    Perdita A.

NEVER AGAIN! stopped for gas and noticed a McDonald's near by...We decided on some Frankenfood before we hit the road again. They have a bundle menu @$3 for mix and match...I asked the young man taking orders , can I bundle a McChicken and a Fish fillet and two small fry no salt. He said yes. We got the receipt and it's 16 dollars and some change. I asked about it he said oh well the bundle didn't include the fish fillet. well Sir, since I don't work for McDonald's and you do, it would have been nice that you mentioned thus, because we could have gotten 2 meals with medium fry, and drinks for around the same price. He called the manager over, she didn't even try to fix the problem...smh Dear Management, I suggest training your store management and front end staff properly. Moreover, If wearing mask and gloves are not enough to continue business as usual, I suggest putting catchup, napkins etc. Inside a small plastic bag to give to your customers. That way your employees don't scorn customers when ask for napkins and catchup. I got the most scornful look from your front-end employee when I asked for napkins and catchup...I am not a leper. We were both earing masks and stood far enough from the register. I am totally disgusted by this experience.

    Received my sandwich like this.

Service was very rushed, food was extremely sloppy. Got here after a very long drive in from Texas and honestly wasn't expecting much but I mean come on... especially since we pulled forward for 20 minutes for two normal meals and their was only one other person in line and they were behind us.

    Decorated for Valentine's Day

This location has to be newly renovated and under new management because it is spotless and has great service. We chose to wait here for a few hours due to a multi-vehicle crash and closure on I-40 W due to a snowstorm. The management kept us updated on road closures and recommended we not take an alternate route due to Road conditions. Our usual McD fare was perfect and the coffee was kept full during our wait! Thanks for the great service, Barbara!

We stopped here to eat because it was what we could get in a hurry while traveling during covid. We were greated immediately by the employee. The inside was very clean and the restrooms were also clean. We ordered food for six people. All the food was correct to our order and was given to us promptly. The chicken nuggets and French fries were amazing. Fresh and crispy. Definitely adding this to my travel stops.

I ordered chicken fajitas and my hubby got 2 tamales, pork & chicken. My fajitas came on the usual hot skillet, but it wasn't sizzling or steamy. Some pieces were stuck to the skillet and there wasn't much onion or pepper. It kinda looked like leftover from lunch maybe. My 4 corn tortillas were all stuck together and I finally salvaged 1 while tearing up the other 3. Sour cream came in a tube and guac was not fresh guac. So the fajitas were less than good. I had ordered the beans and pozole side which was available for .99 extra. The pozole was really good ! I should've just ordered a bowl of that! My hubby liked his tamales very much, however. The prickly pear margarita was good. 3 stars is adequate Service was fine. Waiter brought me new, fresh corn tortillas and said not to worry as he hadn't charged us for them. Ha! There would've been a war if we had been charged for them!

Penny's has that classic roadside diner charm, complete with the shiny silver exterior and that satisfying old-school diner door. It leans into nostalgia in the best way, like you accidentally pulled into a time capsule somewhere along a desert highway. Inside was clean and well-kept, and the staff were attentive and friendly without being over the top--exactly what you want when you're road-weary and hungry. Food-wise, the burger hit the spot and the tots were crispy (always a win). Simple, classic diner food done right. A couple of knocks: the bathroom was just okay, nothing terrible but not great either. And the soda... not good. It had a strange flavor, almost like the lines hadn't been changed in a while--definitely stick with water or something bottled. Overall, it's not a destination restaurant, but for where it's at, it absolutely delivers. A reliable, nostalgic pit stop that does the job well. Worth the stop? Yes. Just skip the soda.

When you see the lights are on, it's a relief. From what I understand, they're able to stay open 24 hours because of a contract with Big Rail, which keeps train crews fed and honestly, the rest of us travelers benefit too. I love that the choo-choos take care of their people while providing a service to anyone passing through. It's a cozy, welcoming stop when you need it most. The kind of place that makes a long drive feel less lonely. In the instance I'm in those parts of New Mexico or Colorado, Penny's is my go-to. Five stars!

I usually wind up here just passing through and have had a hard time finding something reliable that's Not A Chain, so this fits the bill. I rolled the dice and tried the online ordering, and my food was ready a lot faster than I thought it would be. Granted, I ordered an hour before closing (sorry) so your mileage may vary. It's a little on the expensive side, but whatever. It's like a hundred dollars to step out of your house anymore. I got out of here just under twenty bucks for a double New Mexico burger, a large fry, and a shake. The patties aren't really seasoned, but they're cooked well, and if you add the chopped chiles and some bacon, you'll be just fine. The seasoned fries are tasty. The shakes are average, but sometimes that chocolate syrup predictability is exactly what you need after hours of driving. The folks working here are friendly and diligent. So, despite the fact I spend most of my time in Tucumcari asleep, this burger definitely woke me up out of the zombie haze that i40 does to people. Looking forward to my next stop here. Don't let the lights on 66 go out. :)

We ordered a burrito, fries and drinks - a Manhattan for my wife and a chocolate martini with Kettle One and crème de cacao for me. My wife's drink was to her liking, but the chocolate martini tasted like there was coffee liqueur in it. Since I didn't know when our waitress would appear again, I told the first person we saw - a young man - that I couldn't drink anything with coffee because of the caffeine, and that I needed it remade. He took it back to redo. While we were waiting, one of the pool players dropped a very loud f-bomb when he missed a shot. Then a young child began crying very loudly. The young man came back with the remade drink, and the coffee taste was gone. After it had been over 45 minutes I had to ask what looked like the manager what had happened to our burrito and fries. She went back to check, and our food finally appeared. The burritos were long on rice and short on carne asada, something we couldn't know until we started eating. At some point our original waitress came back, and my wife told her we had to send back my first drink because of the coffee ingredient. She denied any coffee-containing spirit was used, and walked away. We never saw her again. I had to ask the manager for an itemized ticket, since the ones we had were sign for a total amount only, with no itemized detail. Since the original waitress had closed out our ticket right after we ordered and had given us our check, we paid and left. No tip was left. If you want a properly-mixed drink, be prepared to explicitly request every ingredient. Better still, don't expect great drinks or food at this place - stay away. Mine a little dry but put a lil queso on there and that was perfect. Loved the tortilla they use. One thing I didn't like, the kitchen had their music BLASTING, could hear that better than the dinning room music. Very overstimulating with two very different types of music going.
