Generally a good McDonald's. Hit and miss with items for children like colouring and balloons. Toddler loves colouring and is always disappointed when there's non left to do. read more

Sometimes I feel bad about writing reviews of places because I really, really want to enjoy them,…read morebut they let me down. That was my experience at The Meat Counter. It's a cute little restaurant with a small number of seats, but that's not a deterrent. The burgers on the board looked absolutely amazing, so we decided to get one cheeseburger with blue cheese and bacon and one of the bbq pork burgers (topped with bbq pork). We also split their animal-style cheesy chips. I also had a root beer (yes, they have root beer in the UK!) So the burgers. We split them in half, and they were two different buns. The bun on the pork burger was the right size, but a bit stale and crumbly. I would have preferred the burger to be cooked a bit more pink in the middle. And unfortunately, there wasn't a lot of flavor all around (the meat definitely needed more seasoning.) The cheese burger had a massive bun. It was way too big for the size of the patty, so we ended up eating only part of it. And with a blue cheese burger, I expect a nice rich experience, but it was still kind of bland and under-seasoned. And the animal-style cheesy chips. Coming from the US, I expected an In-N-Out animal style thing, and they were just some chips with a bland cheese sauce and a few chopped pickles. Not quite the animal style I was hoping for. So a good effort, but for me, it was lacking. Which is unfortunate. It's a super cool venue, and the music was great, and the workers were super friendly (and attractive!), but the food just really didn't stand up for me.

The Bella burger was superb, flavoursome and unique, especially for a veggie option, but the Big Kahuna, if there was a competition for two dry patties complemented by even drier pulled pork, this would take the cake in that horrendous category. For that burger to win an overall "best burger" award, there would have to be an absolute joke of an awarding body (besides the fact they're already rewarding burger patties) responsible. Not even an ounce of BBQ involved. No sauce. Nada. Dirty fries were incredibly enjoyable, however.
My fave + plus a delicious black cherry soda

One particularly large group came in sitting closely around two tables put together oblivious to any coronavirus concerns. It has tabbouleh, marinated chickpeas, kale, roasted butternut squash and beetroot, fattoush, pomegranate and pumpkin seeds. We shared butterflied prawns with crispy mcbites, both were superb. For mains, shared Cornish hake with black rice and Roasted haddock with potatoes and broccoli. Highly recommended to visit Burgers & Fish restaurant in Padstow. Next time I'll try Wagyu burger.
