Date of Visit: Christmas Night
Stopped at McDonald's on the highway at Port Macquarie during a holiday trip, and unfortunately, it was an experience I won't forget--for all the wrong reasons.
Yes, it was Christmas night, and I understand staffing can be challenging, but the service and food quality were absolutely appalling. It could be forgiven that my chocolate shake was in fact vanilla, it was disappointing that my partners quarter pounder was somewhat cold, which was weird considering it took over 40 minutes to receive my order--BUT the chicken salad--was shockingly underwhelming. The salad was basically a rabbit's meal: mostly lettuce, a few sad pieces of onion, and zero chicken. They'd forgotten the "chicken" in chicken salad entirely.
Given the long wait and the disappointing food, this experience fell far below what anyone should expect from McDonald's, a global fast-food giant. THIS was my one and only Xmas meal to keep me going on a long trip up the coast to see family, but instead, it was a frustrating stop that left me vowing to avoid this location in the future.
McDonald's is known for consistency, even during busy or understaffed times. Unfortunately, this branch let the team down in a big way. For future freeway travel, I'll be looking elsewhere for a reliable meal.
If you're considering stopping here, my advice: keep driving. read more
