What I have noticed by being observant, is the manager on duty makes or breaks the quality of service and product, and knows how to make the customer happy. They pay attention to what's going on and make sure things are going out correctly! I eat here ALOT, I love In and Out and its the closest to me. I eat there once a week. I do roll the dice each time I go, which baffles me because In and Out is famous for being consistent no matter where you go. I have had my ordered screwed up before, sometimes they remake it which doubles the time you spend in there, other times I have had my order remade and get a gift card for a free meal next visit. Now, If your on lunch you don't have 30 minutes to burn and then have to try and eat also. I think they should make good on there mistakes. My food was ready within a few minutes and I took my Nacho Steak Sandwich and fries home. My sandwich and fries were great, and I devoured my meal. Great food, affordable prices, and friendly folks. This visit to Wendy's happened right after we moved into our new apartment. We were in that in-between phase -- boxes everywhere, dishes packed, zero desire to cook. I needed something quick, affordable, and predictable. That's usually where Wendy's comes in. Ordering was simple. A couple of Biggie deals. A Coke with no ice. And one custom drink for my son -- since they didn't have Fanta and he doesn't really drink flat juice, I asked if they could do half Sprite and half juice to make it bubbly. They listed the juice options, I clarified what I meant, and they agreed. At the pickup window, things shifted. When I pulled forward, the employees were mid-conversation and didn't acknowledge me for a bit. Not a huge deal -- but noticeable. Then they handed me two half-Sprite/half-juice drinks. I calmly said, "I'm so sorry -- I only needed one of those. The other was supposed to be a Coke with no ice." They looked at each other. One visibly rolled her eyes. They took the drinks back without saying anything and shut the window. That moment was the problem. No clarification. No "got it." No correction with professionalism. Just attitude. And here's the part that bothered me most: I realized I had apologized for correcting their mistake. That didn't sit right. I hadn't been rude. I hadn't been demanding. I hadn't even paid yet. There's no reason a basic order clarification should feel tense. So I left. This wasn't about soda. It was about tone. Fast food doesn't have to feel like friction. It's supposed to be quick, efficient, neutral at minimum. Instead, the energy felt irritated and dismissive. If management is setting that tone at the window, that's bigger than a drink mix-up. Parking was easy. The drive-thru line wasn't long. The issue wasn't speed -- it was service presence. I'll come back when the atmosphere feels more professional. Until then, there are too many other options nearby to choose from.
