The service wasn't slow. The cashier was friendly enough. The food was average for a McDonalds. Even though they had a 97 sanitation grade posted the place wasn't clean. Somebody needs to do some deep cleaning. The floor in the men's bathroom was sticky with semi-dried pee. The smell of urine made my restroom trip brief. I waited over twenty with in the drive thru to get a Happy Meal for my nephew. The cashier at the window who took my money was nice and apologized for the wait. The second cashier did not speak. Not even a "here ya go" or a "thanks". I had to ask for a straw and for sauce. The food was okay at best. I have been here three times and the best thing about this place is the WiFi. I went for breakfast and the floor was so slippery throughout the restaurant that a toddler fell and an elderly woman nearly fell. My scrambled eggs looked like fake food, made hours earlier. They ran out of napkins as well. I went to ask for a napkin and also let her know the floor was slippery. She yelled over to an employee who was sitting at a table eating, if he would clock in early and he responded "hell no". My second was fine except they had no clean tables. I went to the girl at the counter and had to wait a bit as she blatantly ignored me. I said loudly, do you have a towel to wipe down a table, they are all dirty. She proceeded to hand me the towel to wipe it up myself! My third was for dinner. The woman that took our order was rude, and when we thanked her she literally rolled her eyes at us! The food wasn't terrible, although I did have to put the cheese on my burger and my large fries were 1/2 empty, but they gladly filled it up. There wasn't a clean table to be seen. We are outside and an employee walked out as she screamed into the restaurant about dimes e cleaning her dining room. Smoked her vape and went back in yelling again. ZERO STARS INDEED (Just like the other review!) Slow, Slow, Slow service. Fast food? Nah - not here! Passing through from Tennessee to Charlotte, we decided to hit the drive-thru for a late night meal. Very slow service. Finally got the food and the burgers were cold. The chicken nuggets were hot and fries were warm. All in all - just a bad experience. To top if off - no napkins in the bag. I had to pull around front and go inside to grab napkins all while walking past people sitting inside looking miserable because they also had been waiting forever for their food. Wow, so slow. Typical fast food like most Mc Donald's. They do however, move quite fast and you don't have to wait in line very long loke most McDonald's. Newland and Banner Elk locations are both very fast. read more

Wow... I don't think I've ever been so dissatisfied with fast food. We thought it would be cool to order from their new self-order kiosk. Terrible idea! We got our number and sat at our table for 15 minutes before going to the counter to find out where our food was. It wasn't on the display. I had to give them my receipt for them to make my food. It was only 3 burgers and a chicken sandwich. There was only 3 other tables in the restaurant with people at them. There were 10 people working in the kitchen and cars kept going through the drive-thru. So don't dine-in at this McDonalds unless you want to get treated like a red-headed stepchild. read more

Slowestnservice of ANY "fast" food restaurant that I have ever had! 12 minutes in the drive thru line. I asked the girl what the issue was and she replied that they were "slammed" in the dining room. There was a total of 4 cars in the parking lot and 2 in the drive thru. If you can't handle that volume at a McDonald's, then you need to shut your doors. It was 8:00 on a Saturday night. This is the best McDonald's I have EVER been to, and I have been to many. For all these people saying how it is so slow and gross, I can prove y'all wrong. Even though it might take a long time to get your food you get to talk with some friends of the small town of Newland, and y'all that just being southern, and kind. Y'all people who are given bad reviews must be from the city because in Avery county we do not judge anyone and we try to be friendly. Hey, I have made great friends with the employees over the year. They may not Tesla but kindness is awesome. The saying I go by is What wisdom is greater than kindness? Again I have grown up at this McDonald's so I love it! This isn't going to be a good review. On Sunday Sept. 15 around 5:30 in the evening we pulled up the window to get our food, which we received but when I asked for my Dr. Pepper that I had already paid for I was told I didn't order one. I also wasn't given a receipt to prove that I had ordered it. Well after some back and forth arguing the guy finally hands me my drink and when I said "thank you" (because I too work with the public and mistakes happen) he says "yea whatever, bitch.." Slams the window and turns his back to us. My husband was infuriated when he heard it and when we tried to call to speak to a manager we were told none of them spoke English and hung up.. I saw the car in front of me get upset with him too and now maybe I know why. But I really would AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!! There are plenty of other businesses that deserve your hard earned money besides an establishment that will keep an employee like that. read more
