I didn't care for it very much. I drink my coffee black so good coffee is harder to find. If it has some of the add ins like cream and sugar or Carmel it may have tasted better but for me after about 1/4 of the cup I was done with it. Just not my style of coffee. I tried one of the fresh made coffee cake muffins and it was pretty good. I do think he microwaved it before handing it to me which if I would have known I would have asked him not to do. I don't like anything that's been in a microwave. So I ate the top of the muffin and it was very tasty and very sweet and feed some birds the rest of it when I stopped at the brown mountain overlook. I really wanted the croissant but they were pre-made and already had sausage on them. I just wanted egg and cheese or just cheese but that wasn't an option. All in all for a Sunday morning breakfast at a campground were nothing else was available it was good. I may try something else next time or just make my own coffee at the campsite.

We walked over and we were so glad we did! By PB&J Iced Latte was so good! The cold foam on top was so yummy and the drink really did taste like a PB&J. The Iced Chai was also delish! It was spicy and not overly sweet. We stopped by before we left town the next day - for one more PB&J Latte, another Chai as well as the Blackberry Lemonade and a few baked treats for the road. The Blackberry Lemonade was a fun drink - icey and refreshing! (It was pretty sweet, but also tart - really good) The staff were SO welcoming (especially the sweetest baby ever at the register ) Everyone behind the counter was smiling and actively working which is why our drinks were ready fairly quickly both days despite the crowd. The shop had fun little gifts and stickers which tempted us while we waited. We were happy to see so many Gluten Free treat options - they were all individually wrapped which made them even safer for our son with celiac. This is a great place - we will definitely stop in next time we are in the area!

We ended up just ordering coffee, and although the line moved pretty quickly, it took quite awhile to get our drinks, and one came out way later than the other. We sat in chair in the back and it was pretty comfortable. On a quieter day, I think you could sit and check emails here or chat with a friend. We had hoped to order food as well, but they were out of a lot of items and warned that egg bites would take 15+ mins to make, so we passed on that. Overall, I'd give it another chance, as the coffee was enjoyable. Felt like they were caught a little off guard that day.

Coffee Shop No. 491 Fred and Larry's Coffee…read moreBanner Elk, NC April 7, 2025 This is my second time visiting Fred and Larry's Coffee Shop in Banner Elk, North Carolina. The first time was September 13, 2021; the ending stages of COVID so customers were not allowed in the shop. I ended up drinking coffee outside with three local gentlemen; one of the them was Larry. He is an owner and a Marine Veteran. We had some good laughs and I learned a lot about Banner Elk and the surrounding area. After visiting Fred and Larry's Coffee the first time, I realized I wanted to make exploring local coffee shops a part of my life; and here I am almost 500 coffee shops later. On my second trip I enjoyed a cortado while relaxing on Fred and Larry's big comfy leather couch. The barista was super friendly. She is definitely an incredible asset to the shop. Thank you Fred and Larry for making delicious coffee and providing a relaxing setting to meet new people and dream up new adventures in life. Enjoying life one cortado at a time!

Bristol, Va. This bakery was our go to place for breakfast…read moreduring our week in Bristol. At first I was skeptical because of the long line that didn't seem to be moving. As it turns out there are a couple of ladies who really know how to run the show here. The line does move along efficiently and the lead lady communicates with the staff quite efficiently. There is also another lady who is a wizard of the espresso machine, it is a good thing they have her. On our first day there she came in late and this other lady took FOREVER to make our lattes, which turned out weak and milky. On follow up visits the wizard swiftly prepared our caffeinated beverages with great skill. The bean they use here has a good flavor but the espresso lacks boldness. The end product is just not rich enough, but it will do. The quiches are excellent, we always went with bacon Swiss or Loraine. They are a good size with a nice flakey crust, The granola yogurt parfaits are pretty good, the granola has a nice crunch to it. The yogurt was a bit sweet, it may be Chobani, but it went very well with the extra cup of berries you can purchase on the side. These berries by the way were fresh and beautiful. All the cookies we tried were great. They make a perfect affogato here, very addicting. I'm not sure if it's on the menu, but ask and you shall receive. The ice cream here is of a great quality, very creamy. The lemon berry tarts are way too sweet, they missed the boat on this one. I could not eat more than half of one. They did give us 15% off on the tarts because they were a couple days old. The candied pecans look good but the nuts are a bit rancid. All that sugar can't hide that.

The coffee was weak, and one family member ordered one of the specialty coffees and really didn't like it. We simply asked if we could swap it for a different coffee, but instead of trying to accommodate us, we were given a hard time about it. For a family that had just ordered eight coffees, I thought that was unnecessary and poor customer service. On top of that, the muffin we ordered was frozen. I know places can have an off day, but between the weak coffee, frozen muffin, and the way our simple request was handled, this was not the experience we expected. Unfortunately, I can only give 2 stars.
