I've been here visiting my uncle for the last week and this was my second trip here. This was the…read morefirst time I had noticed that this place had the approval of trip advisory! Which now makes sense, as the pizza was delicious! It's a very small place, you order pizza by the slice. Their menu changes daily which was exciting for me! So don't expect a fancy pizzeria that you'd seen on the travel channel! Take note I was with my 13 year old niece, hence my Italian could only take me to "ciao and buongiorno" then everything else is hand gestures and sign languages . The lady on the counter was super friendly and attentive, she greeted us and patiently answer my questions. I decided to get a veggie (looks like a capresse) and a some sort of sandwich/calzone style salami pizza (Reggio is know for awesome and spicey salamis- If I could, I would bring a ton of this back home!!! It's that good ). Oh man, it was perfect, on every bite! You can taste the freshness of the tomatoes on the veggie pizza, oh mama mia, the mozzarella is also a star in its own right! The sandwich style was good, but it felt a little short, as I felt like it needed some more salami, but nonetheless, it was still good! So if you happen to stumble upon the beautiful town of Reggio Calabria and is in need of a good to go and quick slice of heaven, come check this place out.

The pastry looked better than it tasted, the pizza was just so-so, the noodles were plenty and decent and the surprise hit were the sandwiches for like 3 euro. They were big, warm and tasty on fresh bread. We stopped here because not much was open on this day and we needed something before we went back to our ship. You aren't going to get a great Italian meal here but it will fill you up and be quick.

The granita puts any Italian ice I have ever had in America to shame honey! *two snaps and a head roll* I wanted to lick my cup when I was done. I also tried a delicious, soft-baked roll split down the middle and filled with homemade, whipped heavy cream. We ended up here after the tour guide gave us free tasting coupons and we thought this was the shop she was talking about. After some very unique conversation in broken English, Spanish and Italian between the server, cashier and myself; we quickly assessed that we had the wrong shop. However, the employees were very nice about it and still gave us a smile while helping guide us into the correct direction. I decided to stay and just pay the couple of euros because the experience was worth it. There were a lot of places I felt unwelcomed as both an American and a Black person while traveling in Europe but this place was NOT one of them.

And this one turned out to be just fine as well. Ok, the bathrooms are not always the best, but let's talk food now, that's why we stopped. We ordered a slice of Margarita Pizza and a plate of Chicken w/ potatoes. Pizza was surprisingly good and reasonable priced. Also the chicken did only cost 8 Euros. Chicken was good, nicely cooked. The potatoes not that great, a bit rubbery, probably been laying there for a while. But all in all a good quick lunch.

I thought I would flag up this American Embassy for Yelpers but I had no intentions of eating here…read more- I mean I'm surrounded by some of the best slow food produce on earth so Mc D has no chance. If it was Egypt, where most food is truly grim, then perhaps yes for the certainty of pretty standardised meals, but gourmet Italy, not a cats chance (whatever a cat's chance is). I did buy 6 macaroons from this Mc D to take away - strawberry and pistachio flavours at about 65p each. The server were real pleasant and helpful folks. This region of southern Italy seems to be fixated with eating pistachio - it's everywhere including as a whipped cream on espresso as a topping. What I did notice in Mc D that surprised me was that no WiFi is provided - that's a first for me - I thought it would be a certainty everywhere's. I didn't find if they have toilets. So it's about £7.75 for a Big Mac meal or add 50p to go large. A proper made espresso is is under 90p. What a shame they don't have these exquisite coffee machines thEngland and Ireland.
