Dirty and poorly managed. Ive seen cockroaches in the building many times, and the workers don't seem ethical.

Unexpectedly good SBUX inside Hyvee…read more Went there a couple of times during my recent visit to Kirksville. Friendly service, and they make an excellent matcha latte. Plenty of parking, easy to get to, and there are plenty of tables and chairs inside if you want to savor your food and beverage while seated in comfort. Will be back.

Well, first off, they did not have mobile order available so I went inside to order. When I got there and ordered a flat white, they told me that their espresso machine was broken so they could not make any espresso drinks, only brewed coffee was available. So I opted for a blond roast. When I got it, I tried a sip and it was lukewarm, borderline room temperature. When I told the barista, she said it was from the bottom of the coffee maker and that they were brewing a new batch. Anyway, I didn't have time to wait for them to brew the coffee so I took it, left and threw it away. Apparently, this is a very common occurrence at this particular Starbucks location and that for them to fix their espresso machine, they have to wait for someone from Kansas City to come fix it which could take weeks. I ended up going to Gathering Grounds a few blocks up to get another coffee which was far better. You're better off going elsewhere for your caffeine fix.

We ordered tea and sodas (these cost extra) and then sampled the wares. I had one plate so there was room for a tiny bit of dessert. Service was good. Food was being made fresh in an open kitchen area, which I have never seen before in a Chinese buffet. No issues with parking. Bathrooms were clean and well maintained.

Every station feels thoughtfully curated, almost like a tasting journey built for people who really love food. The sushi was unexpectedly excellent -- the rice had that perfect, lightly warm stickiness, and the fish tasted clean and fresh, not dull or overly chilled like at many buffets. The hot dishes were the real standout: tender cuts of meat with actual flavor depth, vegetables that still had bite and brightness, and noodles that tasted like they came straight off the wok. What I appreciated most was the attention to detail. Trays were replenished before they even came close to looking tired, and nothing tasted like it had been sitting out. The seasoning across the board had balance -- salty, sweet, umami -- clearly made by someone who understands flavor, not just volume. Even the dessert section had intention behind it: creamy soft-serve, flaky pastries, and small bites that let you sample without getting overwhelmed. King's Buffet isn't just "a lot of food" -- it's a surprisingly refined buffet experience that respects freshness, flavor, and variety.
