I've been coming here one or two mornings a week for the last 1-2 months, and it's always been a great experience. Usually I just get a sausage McMuffin, maybe with a drink through the mobile order for drive through pickup. So far all the staff have always been quick, efficient and friendly. Not to mention, the my order is always good, and usually the wait is an excruciatingly long 3 seconds while they open the window and hand it to me. Most I've had to wait is like 1 minute at this location in the mornings, which is entirely reasonable. Other locations take like 2+ minutes even when it's dead sometimes- although later in the day. I've been going through the drive-thru here about once per week for the past year plus, always at lunch time. My experience was great. The fries were the best, perfectly cooked, not underdone, always fresh and hot, and perfectly salted. This kind of perfectly cooked fries is almost unheard of, unfortunately. I noted it was always the same drive thru person handing me my food. Someone was definitely doing her job right and I always meant to leave a good comment for her. (I made the mistake of going later in the day and the fries were crap; different people working.) Now for the past couple months, the normal drive-thru lady at lunch is now gone, and the fries are crap, always undercooked, always cold. I kept hoping the other person would return to working but it looks like she is gone. So unfortunately, I'm going to try other locations. I am shocked to read the poor reviews of this location. I drive to Crystal Lake a couple times a week and pass multiple McDonald's on my way. If I'm going to stop anywhere I 100% always choose this location due to extremely friendly service and quick drive thru line. I am commenting on drive thru experience only as I've never been inside. If you think this location is bad, you have never been to some of the locations closer to my home! read more

Never open on posted hours and sometimes found them closed early. Kinda annoying to go out and spend money somewhere just to find out you wasted your time cuz their closed when they should be open read more

In my years here I found nests of baby mice, we had snakes in the building ( if you think about it, would only make sense that it was because of the over abundance of mice ), and sooo many flies that fly strips need to be put up. Gloves aren't used in the kitchen, they don't enforce the use of hats and I have found hair in food/drinks. Unlike most restaurants, they allow you to have false nails rings and as many bracelets as you want that can harbor tons of nasty bacteria. They sent me to food safety classes only to have me change dates on expired food. besides this, the treatment of workers is horrible. my pleas for help due to an aggressive coworker were ignored and turned onto me claiming I caused the issues. The general manager told me nobody had issues with this man but me, and only a few weeks later he is gone. besides this, I do not work here anymore, I have a 9-5 getting paid better elsewhere. somehow they still involve me. My friend works with this McDonald's, he called off one day. The next he was sent home, the manager claiming that she knew we were together that day and she would need a doctors note to excuse his absence. They never write anyone up, let alone ask for proof even during the time COVID was rampant. I was working, making my own money, minding my business. It infuriated me that they are discriminating against a current employee due to me when first, that shouldn't happen, second I don't work for them, third want nothing to do with them besides maybe a coffee once in a while. EDIT - I will acknowledge that plenty of the people I work with are extremely friendly and kind. It is definitely not like that at every McDonald's. I'm my experience, the morning crew is more hygienic, in uniform, and caring about their work. read more

Undoubtedly the poorest McDonalds franchise I have ever visited. I have lived in Island Lake for the past Five years and will drive to neighboring towns (out of my way) if I want McDonald's food. After the repeated tries at letting this location redeem itself and provide a hot meal in a timely fashion, or even what I ordered. I gave them a try for breakfast today (I was in a hurry and against my better judgment tried to obtain food from this location). After siting in the drive through with at least 10 cars ahead of me for 5 minutes without moving, I had to abandon my hopes for breakfast (along with many others trying to obtain what I am sure would have been a disappointing meal). Never again will I attempt to patronize this establishment. A fantastic McDonalds restaurant can be found in Wauconda, and Crystal Lake. Both locations close to Island Lake. More importantly, both have a friendly and competent staff. read more

Consistent mess ups with orders. I've been shorted a burger at-least 10 times from here never coming back!

They always seem to get the order wrong and never give you a receipt. The rudeness of the female employees is ridiculous! Not worth it!

Slow! One time I sat in the drive thru line for 15 min before just leaving. The second time I was the only one in the drive thru, and the restaurant was empty, but it still took them 5 min to get me 2 cheeseburgers. There was no third time. read more

This usually is a great place for fast food, would be better if the cashier would get your order right. So like I do almost every week, drive thru order egg McMuffin with egg whites. She sez ok folded egg & that's what's on the screen, I tell her no folded (usually they are yellow), EGG WHITE. She has no clue what I'm talking about, so I tell her just leave it be, I'll dissect it myself, I also order well done crispy fries. I ask her again about the fries being well done she sez yes they will be & when I tell her I usually get the egg whites, she still has no clue. Food was barely warm. I tried to order a sundae but they said the machine was down. When I asked to order a shake they said they cleaned the machine already. It was 11.15 and they close at 1:00A.M.!! There was 3 cars ahead of me and 2 behind me on a saturday!! It seems like they should hire people who want to service the customers during working hours. read more

Seriously the worst location. Always takes for ever to get food. Then you have to always inspect your food to make sure it's correct. I've had to turn around several times to get missing food. Always under staffed. And when they get a new face there, they don't stay long. The owners of this location need to get it together. They are not giving MCD a good look. read more

I found this mcdonalds to have a serious fly issue, no matter where u are in the building you are getting harassed by flys. Other than that the people are nice and the food is the same as the other billion mcdonalds there is in the world read more

Ok, the food is not high cuisine, but it's ok. What is good is the service, fast, efficient, friendly. I went there today at 2pm (1/26/19) drive-thru. Both the cashier and the woman who handed me the food very nice. Kudos to management, this starts at the top. The same (very pleasant) thing happened about 2 weeks ago. Well done! read more

The absolute BEST McDonald's I've ever been too!! I have had nothing but excellent service from this location. I could tell the franchise owner certainly treats his employees nicely and truly cares about the company. Each time I get above and beyond customer service from employee Arianna! She is a major asset to the company, very hard working, kind and a total sweetheart.
