At the western edge of Ohio is the town of Greenville, home to the Green Wave, an awesome consignment store, and one of the most delightful restaurants I've ever been to - Jack's Cabin. Co-owned by Jeremy (J) and Carisa (C), and staffed by their son Austin (A) and Kaylie (K), this is the quintessential family restaurant. I enjoyed their corned beef and eggs, amazing fried flounder and cod - and before heading out from my two day respite in Greenville - their Philly Cheesesteak Skillet. Every dish was a hit, hot, and the perfect comfort foods were one to camp indoors. And like a true family restaurant, I felt fair prices all around, such that I kept coming back and tipping in turn instead! Alongside the black bears that peek all around the room, each table also has a personalized figurine featuring camping awesomeness like fishing, wildlife, and just a general vibe of nature. And hey, with $3.50 Yeunglings, I may have found Baltimore's Ohio sister city. Thank you Jack's Cabin for the amazing, entertaining experience. And Congratulations on your engagement, Kaylie!!!

They were in the fryer so long they were practically charred. The cole slaw seemed almost puréed. My wife ordered grilled chicken tenders. They came out fried and overly cooked. She thought at first bite that they were fish because of the taste. I ordered fish, so it is obvious that everything was fried in the same basket. And the grease/oil has needed to be changed for quite a while. My fish tasted bland and mostly if burnt oil. The fries were over saturated and tasted just like the bland fish. My mother ordered a tenderloin sandwich that also looked burnt to a crisp. Lesson learned here: order NOTHING that goes into a fryer. And apparently order nothing grilled, because it will get fried, too. The wait staff was brand new and was having some trouble figuring out our order. There didn't seem to be any shadowing or training happening. It took a long time for our main dishes to arrive. We did like the unique decor and overall appearance of the restaurant, but that's about the only thing I can give them credit for.

These are the only good things about our visit. Friend ordered the special burger (jalapeño bacon jam) medium rare. Came out over cooked, dry, flavorless and not even lukewarm. The pork was good and if you like cheese sauce from a can overcooked pasta with soggy undercooked onion rings on top then this is your dish!! Needless to say we cannot understand how Tollys stays in business but then where else is there in Greenville to eat? Sloopys - go there and get good burgers and decent pizza.

I believe this location used to be a Sonic but it looks like they're having great success in their remaking of the business. I'm not big on sports bars but we were in the vicinity and needing refreshment, so I Yelped a place…read morewe hadn't tried yet. This is a cavernous establishment with very high industrial type ceilings and unquestionably a sports bar: giant screens everywhere, local and regional team posters and neon signs galore, electronic darts, 12 beers on tap, signature shots and cocktails, and a menu of deep fried apps, burgers, sandwiches, wings and "pizza" along with a few entrees and salads. I had a BLT with fries and my husband had the Reuben with tater tots. Fries and tots were okay, nothing special. Sandwiches were good and generously filled though I thought the toast on the BLT was a little dry. The barmaid was also serving several tables and she did a good job keeping up. There was a slightly raised stage area at the front and I believe they have occasional entertainment; caution, this includes kareoke. I didn't observe any pool tables. I get the feeling it's pretty loud in here when busy. As far as sports bars go, recommended.

I just drove all the way down here from Michigan because my wife grew up in Iowa and has been craving them for a very long time. This was our first time to try one outside of Iowa but it was very much worth the drive if for no reason other than seeing her smile. Is it the same as what she grew up with? No. Was it good? We each got two sandwiches and after finishing we got right back in line for the drive thru and each got two more. And Maid-Rite meant literally nothing to me before we got here but we are already talking about coming back again. Why? Because it was good! But my wife would say that people who love this location should go visit an Iowa location because they're just as famous for their onion rings and fries as their sandwiches.

So instead of telling us that first when we walked in he decided to wait until we had to ask. Also no refills on sodas. Food - burgers are basically taco meat with 2 buns and are okay. Due to the service, attitudes of the workers, and mediocre food I would not recommend this place.

I finally asked a woman dumping fries about my order and she rudely stated it was still being worked on. There was a truck in the drive thru that had to honk at the window for service and was still waiting on their order when we walked out. I will not visit this location ever again .

I would have left hungry if it hadn't been for the appetizer…read more My dining partner ordered the cheesy Chicago dip, and I ordered the chimichanga. Both appetizers were delicious. The sauce for the chimichangas could have had more of a Southwest cake taste and not a dill taste, but overall, it was delicious. I ordered the beef tallow smash burger with ranch-battered fries. The fries were hot and crispy and had great flavor and texture. On the other hand, the burger was burnt chard and tasted like three full salt shakers were put on it. The bun was not toasted but black and burnt. It was edible. My dining partner ordered a mustard-glazed chicken with roasted potatoes and broccoli. The potatoes and broccoli were delicious, but the mustard sauce tasted like a bottle of mustard that had been opened and dumped on the chicken. Again, this meal was edible. She then ordered shrimp tacos, which came out nicely presented and tasted fairly well. The shrimp was grilled, but it was also kind of burnt. Whoever the kitchen staff is does not need to be cooking in the kitchen. They did a horrible job, a poor representation of this beautifully decorated, excellent-location restaurant. The wait staff was personable and charming. She had multiple tables, so getting refills was difficult, but when we had her attention, she made the experience quite pleasant.

The tiny city of Greenville seems to be trying hard to create an atmosphere of urban sophistication…read morein its little downtown. They've accomplished this with the Merchant House. Inside you get the brick wall warehouse feel and it's not phony. The bar is well stocked. If you like the minimalist feel you may enjoy sitting on backless round stools, but if not, this makes the bar not a place to linger. That's too bad as it's a beauty otherwise. The dining room offers some seats in the window where you can people watch while dining. It did get a little chilly though. There is an open second floor seating area for busy times. I was delighted with the trendy and thoughtfully curated cocktail list, and that Cranberry Limoncello refresher was perfect. The menu is chef driven and very creative- unique twists like rice krispies in the batter of the Monte Cristo, and Prime Rib on the Poutine. I really liked the Monte but would have loved it with some syrup, sorry I didn't ask. Husband had the Poutine, I got a taste of course and that meaty flavor just permeated the waffle fries perfectly. But they had me at Scotch Eggs. I don't think those can be had anywhere else in a three county radius. They were masterfully executed, so good that we got another order to go. Service was polite and professional, but it was incredibly rushed. So much so that it knocks off a star. Hope that was an exception or off-day for the waiter, who was otherwise polite and knowledgeable. I know I'll be back before long.
