They have a lot of different flavors for shakes and malts-- we tried a banana split shake and a hot fudge, marshmallow malt, both of which were delicious. After reading someone else's review, I found out that it's apparently been rated as Iowa's best hotdog! The coneys are truly the best! We ordered at the window, and were helped very fast. You can order at an outside window or head inside. It was in the mid 90's so I went inside to escape the heat. Wasn't sure what to do at first, whether sat down or ordered at the counter and there was a bit of a standoff after I walked in as I kinda waited for instruction. I ordered a coney. It was ready pretty quickly and I went to grab it from the counter. It was loaded with coney meat that was well seasoned. There was shredded cheese under the meat. You could tell this is a local institution as the folks behind the counter knew and welcomed all the regular folks as they came in. Thanks to the folks at Steburgers for a tasty dog.

The fried chicken is fantastic! 12 piece dark meat special for $9.99, made 3 meals. It was so good we ordered it to go again on Wednesday. The baked beans were also very good. The breaded pork tenderloin was good but beware getting it with everything. Everything included Thousand Island dressing, which for me just didn't work. The fried fish meal was very good. It came with a very large piece of fish, two sides and a roll. The tartar sauce was very unusual, more like the dressing for potato salad than any tartar sauce I'd ever had. Their coleslaw was good. The service was friendly. The diner was clean. There is a surcharge for using a debit/credit card. If we're ever back in Fort Dodge, we will stop again!

I don't know what he intends to do about this, but I would sue! JaMar is the most expensive fast food "restaurant "in FD and they also add a card fee to the bill. This is vastly unacceptable and I'll never eat their food again! The quality has been in decline for several years- the chicken pieces look more like pidgeon pieces! I think the taste is "off" (from what tastes to me like old frying oil) and it's overly-battered. People in FD, beware!

I thought it would call the management and have them clear things up. Well the management took the side of the kids, accusing me of moving their belongings, and even accused me of being racist. It is obvious to me that this must be some king of pseudo-day care for these children, as the manager acted like a protective parent instead of management. I am hispanic, and abhor racism of any kind. The manager provided a number for the district manager. I called and left a number. Later, another call was made, but it went stright to voice mail. I will never go there again, and I hope they get management that isn't also in the daycare business.
