I ordered breakfast on the app and I happened to arrive 5 minutes past 10:30 a.m. Even though the order was placed at 10:20 a.m. on the app. I arrived and was told at the drive thru attendant that breakfast is over and since I arrived late they cancelled my order and will refund me. Always smells like they're having plumbing issues inside, even though it's a brand new building. I've even seen other customers holding their nose trying to block out the smell. They almost never ring up the order right. Tonight I was served a raw burger that I could not eat. read more

I think all of the reviews prior to Sept 2023 are irrelevant now that the newly constructed McDonalds opened up on Sept 14. We came on the first opening day for lunch. This new McDonalds was needed in Elk River since the previous one was so greasy and aged. The new restaurant is so bright, clean and appealing. The new decor is very modern. McDonalds food is just average, but they continue to have the best fries of any restaurant. I wish this new restaurant success in Elk River. read more

This is the slowest McDonald's I have ever been to. The workers move with zero purpose which is uncommon at most locations. Drive thru is always backed up. I get it working at McDonald's is not most people's life dream, but have an once of pride. I worked in the food industry as a teen. I can honestly say it's one of the hardest jobs I've worked. We have been seeing this McDonald's slowly going downhill over the past 5 years. It is now almost uninhabitable. Half the time, it smells like backed up sewer when you walk in. The very young employees spend more time yacking with their buddies than wanting to help you. It needs to be torn down and totally re-built by an owner who would actually care. The trash is always piled up. The employees do not know how to use a mop and bucket. My biggest complaint though is all the friends of the employees that just hang out in there and are rude and obnoxious to the patrons. I would be shocked if there were any managers over 25 years old. I went through the drive thru and could barely understand the voice because it was not coming over real clear, and went through the order again at the paying window. I did not order myself anything. The order was for the other person in the car. So at the pick up window, I asked if I could get a pop. I was told to go around again and order. Normally wouldn't write a review on a fast food place, but we went there for a quick lunch on our way out of town right at noon and it was absolutely awful. Fries were cold and stale (how that even happens during a lunch rush is beyond me) and then I got hot chocolate too and I don't even know what the crap was in my cup. Orders wrong more than half the times we have gone there. Today went through the drive through and the fries were burnt and cold, received the wrong sandwich, and the other sandwiches had burnt grill droppings all over the inside of the box. The store had no customers. Every table except 2 were filthy while 3-4 crew members stood around talking so loud you could hear their inappropriate language. The Manager sat at a table on break. When we received our Filet of Fish sandwiches (4) They were completely sloppy with the sauce hanging off the sides and the filet and cheese barely on the bun. When I finally approached the Manager and told her it was ridiculous that the tables were filthy (especially with the coronavirus around and the tables should be spotless and sanitized). I also showed her how our sandwiches were made which she said was not acceptable. She said she would take care of it when SHE was done with her break and no offer to replace the sandwiches. I saw an elderly woman who worked here just dumping trash into the street, not to mention it was also earth day then. After dumping the trash on the street she just turned around and walked away. To be specific this was also in front of the entrance. She didn't even try to pick up the trash she dumped on the street she just let it sit there and let some of it blow away. McDonalds, in my own personal belief, is like White Castle. Its only good on 3 occasions. Once in a while, when you are super wasted, or when you are tending to yourself from a night of being super wasted.. Service here is mediocre... They screw up alot of orders. Playplace is there for the kiddos if you feel like chugging a quarter bottle of aspirin or advil for your soon to be headache.. Other than that, I guess its just something to eat. I firmly believe that the person who posted that they always get the order right is either an employee or someone with a very simple order. This place is notorious for getting things wrong! Every. Single. Time. Unless it's just a simple single item with no modifications, something will go wrong. I lost count for order screw-ups but have the double-drink or missing drink/fry count at 18 in the last 6 months. Keep in mind, this is not a popular location at which to work. The turnover is unbelievable, and for good reason. So I do try to give credit to the kids who are trying to learn - most of the doubled items are people who are new teenagers. Now, mixups aside, there are much bigger issues. This is the reason for the 1-Star: Not long ago we had to run inside to order since the person on the speaker couldn't be understood. Upon walking in with two kids under 3 in tow, we hear the "manager" using profanity (F,S,C - I'll leave that up to your imagination) and talking about l beating someone up. The lady next to me said he was talking about his girlfriend but I didn't hear that part. Guess I should've walked in 10 seconds earlier for the real entertainment. This "manager" then puffs up his chest and gets defensive of this behavior toward a man (also there with a kid) for calling him out on it!! The best part is there is ZERO accountability on their part, and as another reviewer stated, I cannot believe they still have franchise rights! I did call corporate and was offered free items but come on, there's no way I'm going back there. Abusive language concerning abuse of a significant other in front of customers, much less CHILDREN, should be enough to get a guy fired. I don't even care if that lady was wrong about the girlfriend part, the swearing is enough. After I was told by corporate that they'd "look into it" I did go back just to be a creep and guess who was still employed? Please, it can't be that hard to find a McDonald's manager in Elk River. I only wish I'd gotten the Dad's name to see if he called too, but encourage any of you brave enough to go there to speak up when you see that stuff. We stop here nearly every week on our way up north. Usually around 2pm. It has become a joke with us as to whether they will have the items we wish to order. My husband wants chicken tenders- common simple item. Half the time they are OUT of this item! Sometimes the second choice they are also out of!! How can a business be out of an item routinely at 2pm and stay in business. It is totally beyond my comprehension . Growing up in the 60's mcdonalds was a special treat for our family.Yesterday 12-26-18 I can say was the worst I've ever experienced at the Elk River, Mn location. Their new fresh beef quarter pounder was inedible, so much salt that even the cheese seemed to be salted. So the new 2/$5 was money thrown away. I'm someone who keeps extra salt in my car, so its not like I'm sensitive about it, but if ever anything deserved zero stars this would be it. Of course you can't leave zero stars so I'm forced to give an undeserved 1 star.
