I think TGI's ROCKS! It's a day or night place to enjoy, in the day it's good for families, they cater to kids, with a colouring pack and a kid's menu which is great, and it's the only place I've ever managed to get the drop dead gorgeous Jack Daniel's Chicken dishes. YUM! Order a soft drink and get free refills, whoop. If you've still got room left in your bellies, then the dirt pie is lovely and sticky and chocolatey and divine. The only mortifying thing is when your friends drop you in it with the staff over your birthday and they come out as a pack, standing on chairs singing the birthday song, but if it's not happening to you it's hilarious. Moving from day through to evening, TGI's has some of the most delicious cocktails, even if they are a bit hideously expensive, but the Barnamint Baileys is to die for, even if you indulge in the massive goldfish bowl size, you can't help but gulp it down. Good atmosphere, open day through night, delicious food, deals to be had here too, and gorgeous drinks. It's still one of my favourite places to go.

Over the years Frankie, Benny and I have almost had a bit of a falling out, as whilst the portions seem to get smaller and smaller, the prices seem to climbing all the way up to ridiculous. I am a sucker for Frankie and Benny's food, I think they do some of the best burgers I've ever had, and the Chicago Grinder Calzone is becoming a firm favourite of mine, also their Margherita pizza, one of the best margherita's I'd had in a long time, and that was including some truly authentic home baked full on Italian eateries. It's all a bit cheesy, we know this, the music blares both inside and out, and it's always some member of The Rat Pack, or The Rat Pack as a collective, but I love that it's cheesy. For me it's all about the offers, the lunch time menu works out really cost effectively, with the more courses you order the cheaper it works out, and they don't put the cheapest things on the menu on here, granted they don't put the dearest either but it's good value and I always end up nice and full. Ordering a soft drink off the lunch menu and you get free refills. woop. Go on a Monday night and get 25% off your bill, excellent. Somehow they ended up with our mobile numbers, and every so often they send texts with money off offers to use as many times as we choose to eat at F&Bs that month. I like you again, but if you keep hoicking your prices up, I won't.

I'm gonna stick to 62. Twas only when I came to review the place I realised 62 got it's name from it's street number and not some secret super cool trendy code, but as usual I digress. From the outside, you really don't expect to find anything too remarkable inside, it looks more like something from the shambles in York than a trendy venue to kick back with some friends. Inside, well, I guess, much to 62's disgruntlement, you could liken 62 to the Varsity chains, although 62 is a bit more refined and finished, and a lot lower on the trouble scores, whilst maintaining an atmosphere that isn't rowdy and uncomfortable. Everything is pretty dark without being too dismal, mainly due to the dark wood, and low level of the ceilings, and once it gets busy it does have the tendency to feel a bit close, but the large spaces between the tables helps to put some space between your party and everyone else, which is nice, especially if you're eating. Food is better than Varsity too, and if you go on a Tuesday, you can score two of their gourmet burgers for a tenner. My personal fave, the bbq burger. Yum! Tasty and filling. As day turns into night the atmosphere still keeps it a cool place to be, the drinks get a little more expensive than places like Varsity and Wetherspoon's, at £6 on average for a cocktail, but there's specials nights, like Thursdays where they're 2 for 1, so it's win some lose some. For a good atmosphere and an easy night out, then 62 really is worth a try.
