The Burger Monarchy: A Paradox of Plenty in Miesville In the…read morequiet, pastoral stretches outside Eagan, there exists a roadside institution that defies the modern trend of curated minimalism. King's Place in Miesville is a relic of a different era, a burger joint that functions less like a restaurant and more like a high-volume assembly line of Americana. The menu is not merely large; it is an overwhelming, multi-page manifesto of beef. With roughly 80 to 100 variations on the burger--many named in tribute to the local Miesville Mudhens baseball team--the experience begins with a bout of genuine decision paralysis. For the average diner, the sheer volume of choices feels like a dare. It is a place where you can find almost any topping imaginable, which makes the absence of a simple fried mushroom all the more jarring. It is the one note the kitchen fails to hit in an otherwise exhaustive symphony. When the food does arrive, the logistics are the primary entertainment. The floor staff at King's Place perform a nightly feat of athletic grace, weaving through the crowded, character-filled dining room while balancing five or more burger trays at a time. It is a spectacle of efficiency that puts the sterile, automated nature of modern chains to shame. However, one must navigate the side dishes with a discerning eye. While the temptation to "upgrade" is always present, the seasoned waffle fries are an investment that yields little return; they are best skipped in favor of the standard fare. The real value here lies in the core product and the refreshing lack of pretension. Despite the fame and the daunting menu, the pricing remains stubbornly reasonable, a rare feat for an establishment that has transitioned from a local secret to a regional landmark. "Life is too short to miss out on the beautiful things like a double cheeseburger." -- Channing Tatum For those seeking the predictable polish of a franchise, King's Place will be a confusing sensory overload. But for the traveler who values soul, speed, and a price point that respects the wallet, this is a kingdom worth visiting--just don't expect to find a fried mushroom on your plate. (We had already tried the standard burger at a pop-up they had done and it was amazing.) The food was fantastic! It might look like slightly smallish portions but it really was plenty of food and really tasty. The flamethrower burger was very spicy, which is a nice change from burgers that just put a spicy mayo on or something. This had layers of deep heat and you get it from the second you bite into it. It's not the kind of obnoxious heat that makes you cry and struggle through in pain, though. If you like spicy food, you'll love this burger. The pickle burger was my favorite. It has pickles, pickled red onion, and creamy dill ranch. All of that balances out the richness of the beef. It's such a great burger. The kids burgers seemed to be full size but we're just a simple cheeseburger. The fries portions were on the smaller side but not too bad, and they tasted good. The tots were great. Drinks are canned soda or bottled water. They do have some beer also. It's all counter service, so you can take it to go or sit at the tables outside. But they also have picnic blankets hanging up that you can use to sit on the grass in some shade. Be aware that this is NOT fast food, so you will have to wait a little bit for you food, especially if it's s busy. But it's not an unreasonable amount of time. Compare it to ordering and waiting at any sit-down restaurant. Overall, this is amazing food for St. Croix Falls. We live walking distance away and will probably visit frequently!

While it's a small little place with walk up ordering and with only a few outdoor seating, the food packed a punch. I'll start with the main event. The flamethrower burger was delicious, just mouth wateringly delicious. I wanted another immediately. It's got the heat as would expected but it's manageable, by no means is it that obnoxious heat. Patty was hot and juicy with melted cheese and crisp yet soft bun. Man now I want another. Curds were as expected. For some reason they covered them in salt after they are pulled from the fryer. Now that may be a local thing since curds are the state staple. However it was just overwhelming with salt. Flavor was there so I'd order again would just ask to hold the salt. Same goes for the onion rings. I'm picky with my rings but the breading was nice. Not too thick and not to thin. Nice flaky batter again heavy on salt. I would most def stop here again for a burger.

So I was quite excited to try this place here in my very small town. As a Yelp Elite squad member…read moreI base almost all of my decisions when trying new places on reviews. Especially during travel. I ordered takeout. Not sure if it was just a bad day or what, but when you are a bit spendy you should take extra care in maintaining good quality food in takeout as much as dining in. I ordered the New Glarus beer battered onion rings, They were soggy, if they had packaged these in brown paper bags this problem would have been greatly diminished as a former restaurant manager. For 9$ I had to come home and put them in the oven to make them crispy again. Also, being a Chicagoan I am a pizza freak. When claiming to be a brickfire pizza place, your crust should be crispy on the bottom yet still chewy. NOPE! It was boxed and sitting in a PILE of grease making my 14$ small pizza very soggy. Very disappointed and probably won't return. I'd rather drive far for good pizza for what I paid for at this establishment. ** update**. Tried to give this place another chance and what a waste of every penny. We figured instead of the pizza this time (being that it was the ONLY place open). We'd try the sandwiches. I'm a Chicagoan and so I went for the "Italian Roast Beef". Big mistake, it was dryer than a desert road and all Italian roast beef sandwiches originating from Chicago should be served "wet" or at least a little "wet". My son ordered the philly and it was just as bad after we had to sit and watch the server stand there and stare into space only to leave to come back with something to write with and STILL didn't give my son the sandwich we ordered so he had to wait. She said she would take it off the bill and she took off 4$..... NEVER again. Don't do it.

Foods kids will eat but with more refined options for adults- like the brussels and cauliflower which were crazy good. Tender florets with crispy exterior and well seasoned. The burgers were super tasty and honestly ate more like a sandwich (in the best way) because of the seasoning and other components. Adults had the mushroom- swiss and the OB. The kids cheeseburger was large and came with a generous serving of fries. 5yo also loved the cheese curds. They were a slightly distinctive style with cornmeal in the breading so very crunchy even after cooling off. Waitress was friendly and accommodating and food came promptly. We will 100% be back on our next trip to Eau Claire in the Spring. I would eat the cauliflower weekly if we lived close by. I also loved that they had dye free sodas and rootbeer.

It's a vintage-looking building with a fenced outdoor area filled with tables and metal chairs. Umbrellas provide shade if needed. Inside, there's a bar with seating and several tables of different sizes. The space has a vintage vibe with bare brick walls, a metal ceiling, wood floors, and even a six-foot-high metal vault door. We were greeted right away by our cheerful server, who explained the menu and took our drink order. I went with the mocktail, St. Peri Spritz (there's also a version with alcohol). While waiting for the rest of our group to arrive, we played some of the games available. There were several other groups there, some with kids, and the noise level was just right for conversation. When everyone arrived, we placed our full order: cheese curds for an appetizer, then a variety of burgers with sides including fries, Brussels sprouts, and cauliflower. The cheese curds came out first -- a generous portion and served hot. The breading had (what I think) chili flakes mixed in, giving it a little spice without being overpowering. Very good. The accompanying Spicy Valley Sauce was a nice addition and, again, not too hot. The burgers followed shortly after, and they were all excellent. I had the Wisco Whiz with cheddar, whiz, bacon, dijonnaise, caramelized onion, pickles, and a pretzel bun. It was almost perfect. The only disappointment was the bacon, which was tough and detracted from an otherwise amazing burger, so I set it aside. All the sides we ordered were also very good -- my Brussels sprouts were outstanding. Overall, a fantastic first visit. Excellent burgers, friendly service (thanks, Aubrey), and a casual atmosphere. Would love to come back again (hold the bacon).
