McDonald Ford has excellent hours. The showroom is clean and the staff are friendly. My sales person was Richard Henne, who is a very kind person, listens, and does not put any pressure on you. He works within your budget and gets the job done. He made sure I got a fair trade in and when he couldn't find the vehicle I wanted locally, he offered a special order or to look further away. At no point did I feel obligated. He didn't try to sneak in features or bait/switch with a similar vehicle. I called with questions and he directed me to the right people when he didn't know. For financing, I worked with Chris who went out of his way to make sure I got the best rates and rebates. Outstanding team! I will buy future Fords from McDonald. To start I looked online at their website and found a Jeep I wanted to look at, the little chat box popped up, and I asked if they still had that, Jeep. I was told yes, they do. I asked if I could come look at it around 11 am. I was told great, what's your name and I will pencil you in. I get there at 11 and the two men working looked at me like I was intruding on their day. They had no idea I was coming to look at the jeep. The one man (Kevin) looks up the jeep and says he will go get it. 15 mins or so later, he comes back oh we don't have that Jeep anymore took it to auction. Thankfully I was in the area and didn't drive from my home to look at this Jeep (home is over an hour away). Kevin said he had one I might like. I drove it and another car. Go in to talk more business and they low balled me on my car because they said it needed tires. Hmmm $4500 is all it is worth because it needs tires?! No, it's because I was a woman walking in there and I knew my shit. These men working were so rude and not good sales people. I would never go back in there! Took my vehicle in for a recall, and ask while it's here can you look at my door lock, 2 hrs later they handed me a bill for $180.00 and said it was for diagnostics and it would be another $600 + for repairs. $780, for a switch! I said what about the extended warranty that the Ford dealership sold me when I bought it! OH WE DON'T EXEPT THAT ANY LONGER!!!!!! Run don't walk away from Marry Macdonald and her team of thieves. Bought a set of tires for my sons' car. He lives in Marquette and was told he could use the Ford dealer there to get tire work done. What they did not tell us all the cost would be on us. Only covered work would have to be in Freeland. Hard to drive 6+ hours for tires issues. recommend some other place. read more

3 weeks ago I brought my Diesel Ford F-450 in for repair because it was in restricted power mode and was running very poorly. After the tech at McDonald Ford analyzed the problem they told me my fuel pumps were bad and it would cost over $12,000 to repair the problem, if they could get the parts. I then decided to take the truck to a friend of mine in Bay City who owns a Diesel Truck repair facility. After he analyzed it, the pumps were not bad, there was just Gas in the fuel. After draining the tank and putting new fuel filters in the truck now runs perfectly. It cost me only $1,100 and I saved over $11k in repairs. McDonald Ford still charged me $247 for a misdiagnosis. I thought crooked and scummy dealerships were a thing of the past. I purchased a Honda Accord from this worthless place about a year ago in March. I was told the bank was requiring $2,000 worth of paint and carpet protection and $900 GAP insurance. I called the bank and they said absolutely not and this was not true. I called and wrote the dealer to ask about it and of course they dodged my questions. They said they could return the GAP insurance $900 but they never did. They also overcharged me for the car. It automatically reduces the price as time goes on and since I asked if it had all the warning lights on a week prior to actually going to look at it, I guess that locked in my price. I hired a lawyer and they told the lawyer that the paint and protection plan was only $1000 and I was overcharged somehow and I would get that $900 from the GAP and $1000 back. Of course this never happened and they just avoid any requests at all now. I would highly advise to never do business with these crooks. An absolute disgrace. read more

They sold my niece a used truck and a $3000 third party warranty that was useless. A few months later it is blowing blue smoke. After telling her it is covered, they ordered a new engine and turbos, a month later they say it isn't ordered and nothing is covered. I run a CarFax and find that they discovered an oil leak a few days before they sold it to her and never disclosed this. She is told the issue is likely seals or valves, not covered. Would need to tear the engine down, costing $2,500 and if it is seals she pays for the teardown and has a non-working vehicle. Warranty work can only be done there, per the warranty. She pays thousands to have a new engine and turbos put it, the whole process took 3 months, only to have it overheat and leave her stranded 6 days later. When she goes to the dealer, the service manager says these things happen with used vehicles. She asks to speak to the owner who was in the back and he refused to come out. I have found several reviews on various sites that seem to show this is a pattern of behavior. I have filed complaints with Ford and the state and will be seeking legal action. I would not use this dealer had bad experience called dealer for a car they had on line told them what i wanted comparable to my old can with a few more options easy to deal with vary helpful sales person car delivered to me a vary nice car did not realize it was only two wheel drive not like I asked for, wife was looking at car I wrote check not giving a thought to check to be 4 wheel drive went on vacation came home car would not go up small grade panicked 'what do we do called right away they said don't worry will get it taking care of , no way did I want two wheel drive car need four wheel drive called said they would find one and work with me what a joke they will not return calls always two busy cant find one keep passing it on cannot get the owner general manager to call me back if they don't want to help just man up and say so I hope the owner reads this just so he knows what his staff is like seems like they had it planned I would not notice being two wheel drive ???? read more

I bought a 2014 f-150 from McDonald ford off their web site. They delivered it to my house. It was snowing so I didn't look it over but when I finally did I found some back end damage. Within 200 miles I heard a scraping noise. It turned out to be a bent axle which in turn damaged the brake & rotor. When I contacted them they said they wouldn't pay for any thing. Had to take it to Fox Ford in Traverse City. The bill was $1220. Stay away from these crooks!! read more
