I had an appointment at this dealership this morning for my 10,000 mile service on my Acura MDX as this is the dealership where I purchased my car. I live approximately 90 minutes away from this dealership so its not the least bit convenient for me and there are other places I could choose to have my car serviced. Because of rainy conditions and an accident, I arrived approximately 25 minutes late. As a result, the dealership would not honor my appointment and told me I needed to either come back the next day or seven hours later neither of which was a satisfactory solution for me. I have never had such a crappy experience with an Acura dealership in the past and hopefully won't in the future as this business can rest assured that this was my last visit ever to their dealership. The service they needed to perform was basically an oil change and a tire rotation neither of which takes much time so I felt that their treatment of me was basically a slap in the face. My car will now be going to the Acura dealership that is a lot closer to where I live (Jim Hudson Acura in Augusta) rather than this crappy one with poor customer service and the bad attitude towards their customers. read more

On March 12, 2022 around 4:30pm, I bought a buddy of mine to the dealership to review the RDX and MDX advance model. The problem we had with the young lady was that she didn't listen to my simple request to review the vehicles. If she only listen to the customer I would have purchased one of the models. And when she bought in the sales manager (who was very rude) it was time for me and my buddy to leave. This dealership refused to honor Acura's two year free routine maintenance program for new Acura vehicles. The service representative told me that Acura would not pay for the requested oil change unless there was at least 5000 miles on the vehicle since the last oil change. I showed the service representative an email I received from Acura corporate on this issue indicating than once the Maintenance Minder light came on indicating that the service was needed, the care was eligible for the free service under the program. It had been more than 11 months since the last oil change. The service representative looked at the email and dismissed it, saying that notwithstanding what Acura corporate said in the email, because there was not 5000 miles since the last oil change, Acura would not pay for an oil change, and that I would have to pay for it myself. Shocked by this rude behavior, and the representative essentially telling me that Acura corporate was lying to me about covering the service under the routine maintenance program. I am done with this dealership and Acura. read more

When I bought my 2013 Honda Accord Sport in 2017, part of the purchase agreement was free oil changes for the life of the vehicle (except for the 15,000 mile intervals when it comes as part of a maintenance package, which was supposed to be $100 off the total price). However, when I took my Honda in for it's 115,000 mile check-up I was told that the owner has changed their policy and they no longer give the $100 discount for the 15,000 mile interval check-up & they no longer provide free oil changes at the 5,000 or 10,000 mile intervals. I'd say that's a breach of contract, wouldn't you? I do agree with some of the other reviewers though, that this incident has no reflection upon the high quality of service provided by their service technicians. read more

I was told they had to order the part.I arrived 1hr early for my appointment and was told they didn't have to look at my car and they asked me to leave 1 week later and I try to have the part replaced. They said that since I never had the car check by them they wouldn't replace the part unless I paid for it. read more

To be a Luxary dealership my one experience with them was not on the luxury level. Poor customer service. I had an appointment but my salesperson was late due to having another client. When I got there he told me to remain outside and he will be with me. He left me outside on a muggy summer afternoon. I sat in my car. He never called after 50 minutes. Why wasn't I invited to sit inside in one of the lounges I'm assuming they had. I left. If they require their customers to sit in cars while they wait, I'll rather work with a dealership that has a lounge with food and drinks. Even a TV or two. I can get my dream car from another Acura dealership in the state. read more

We were traveling over Memorial weekend and got a flat tire about 20 miles West of Columbia. We called Acura Care and a tow truck was called. The tow Truck (not affiliated with McDaniels or Acura) took 2 hours to arrive. They towed us to the dealership. I had called and spoke to Nick the service manager and he said that they were open and even had a tire in stock. He was so professional and nice. Renege on Repair Agreement We had a decent experience purchasing a 'used' auto via McDaniels Acura. We had come all the way from North Georgia for our Honda Pilot. However it was on a Holiday Weekend, thus they were unable to replace the Windshield, which was cracked while we were in SC. It went down hill from there! They'd agreed, in writing, that they owe us a New Windshield, but they refused to send a check for it, despite we'd provided a quote from our Honda Dealer in GA to replace it. I'm going to provide one more opportunity for them to make good on their Agreement, else they'll be undertaking payment for our Attorney we'd be obliged to engage to take over this mess of their making. That would be regretful indeed! Ditto IF we get a Citation for cracked windshield, it will be on them, additionally. Hope their Business practices improve for their sake! read more

I bought an Acura at their new dealership on Killian Rd. last week. It was among the easiest and most pleasant car-buying experiences I have ever had. I called the sales manager beforehand with a specific car in mind, told him what I was willing to pay for it out-the-door, and he met me a reasonable price ALL BEFORE I LEFT MY HOUSE. When I got to the dealership, I met with a sales representative named Willie who took me for a test drive. He was among the most easygoing, non-pushy car salesman I have ever worked with. I told him I liked the car and he brought out the paperwork and I walked off the lot with the car for the pre-determined price...no gimmicks, no hidden agendas, no problems. The straight shooting folks at McDaniels treat people right and they've earned a loyal customer. PLUS, that lifetime warranty is kinda hard to beat! All in all, two thumbs way up. read more

This incident had NO reflection upon the high quality of service provided to me by the service supervisor or service technicians! ...They did an excellent job from start to finish and I have never had any issues with the McDaniel's service department. This incident took place on the same day between myself and a salesperson... Again this has nothing to do with the service but my overall perception of the dealership's sales staff. I had a meeting on Zoom that I was running late for and had originally planned to be dropped off while my maintenance was being performed and would return later. However, due to the time crunch I asked the service supervisor if I could have access to a quiet area since I would not make it back home in time. He kindly suggested that I use a small room near the waiting area. My husband and I sat chatting for a few minutes before my online meeting started. In walks a saleswoman asking why we were in her office. I responded that the service supervisor offered it to us, and she rudely stated without making eye contact that I was not allowed to use the office and that we needed to leave. As I gathered my things and walked out, I witnessed her scolding the maintenance supervisor. He apologized to me and said that he allows customers to use that room all the time while they wait and that this was a new policy to him. She was rude and unprofessional and should not be selling cars with that attitude. She is a middle aged African-American. I did not get her name because I was in a hurry scrambling to get to my husband's truck to try and get back home in time to conduct my meeting. When I came back to pick up my car she was all smiles with two potential buyers in that same office. I guess since I wasn't there to make a purchase that I was not important enough to be polite to and offer an alternative place to work. I will return for service here, but I will think twice about purchasing. read more

In Oct. 2017 I had a transfer case replaced in my Cayenne Porsche. In December of 2019 the transfer went bad and needed replacement. Which means the new transfer lasted all of 2 years before going faulty. Because the part wasn't no long under warranty Porsche did not want to cover the $4,000 repair. Under some negotiating the local dealership split the cost with me and suggested I pursue reimbursement from corporate. Needless to say, corporate was unwilling to reimburse the $2,000. Constantly justifying that my car contributed to the 2 year old part wearing out. I can't comprehend a transfer under almost any circumstance only lasting 2 yrs. My car has 110K mile on it at the time it went out. To add insult to injury, they wanted to retract an offer of a $500 voucher after I complained. I have calculated that I have spent over $12,000 with them to date. I can say once this car expires they will not be seeing me again on any of their porsche dealership lots. I had an appointment to have my battery checked and changed. Prior to my visit I had my battery tested at two different auto parts stores. Both confirmed the reading of "Bad Battery." This prompted my call and scheduling of service with McDaniels Acura. Upon arrival my car was taken to the back to have a diagnostic of the battery, alternator and starter. After the diagnostic was complete I was given a print out that said my battery was fine. That was completely unacceptable as I had just received two readings of "Bad Battery." I insisted that I be taken to the garage to see my specific car hooked up to the machine and then shown the reading on the machine. The diagnostic was re-run and by some miracle my battery now showed it needed to replaced. McDaniels Acura placed my vehicle liability in jeopardy and had it not been for my persistence I would have driven off with a higher probability of my car not starting. I find this to be negligent and completely unprofessional and I will be sending an email of complaint as well as a negative Yelp review. This greatly lessens my confidence in the ability of this facility to provide service in the future. read more

8 Hondas, then Acura but never again RDX and other models have a well known AC Clutch failure problem. Consistently happens 70 to 90 thousand miles. Acura extended the warranty which has a time limit as well as a mileage limit. By not driving many miles per year my vehicle is past the time limit but well within the mileage limit and the AC Clutch failed as does the majority of the vehicles with the AC system system used on many of the Acura vehicles. I appealed to Acura and the dealer for coverage but was denied, over the age and was told that the age and that I had not been using them for routine maintenance, just warranty work. I live an hour away, too far to use them for routine service although I do use a Honda dealer closer to my location. After many Hondas thought I would try an upgrade to Acura but regret doing so. While a little more dressed up it is just a Honda at a much higher price and no concern for the customer. I have been considering buying a new vehicle soon but have concluded: Acura-NEVER AGAIN. read more

Drove down from Charlotte and it was not only well worth the drive, the dealership was also conveniently north of Columbia so it was easy in and out. The property is turnkey, with a large well priced inventory of vehicles and a relaxed supportive buying experience. We dealt with William Miles and Paul Emerson who went overboard to assure that we got everything we were looking for and more. Just moved to Charlotte from Hawaii. After spending over 2 weeks shopping all over Charlotte, with poor experiences and haphazard inventory, it took just a simple phone call to McDaniels....discussed exactly what we were looking for, and within 2 days they had our perfect car delivered and being held for us on their lot. Would you rather spend a half day haggling at a dealership, for a car that isn't exactly what you want? I have received 30 some calls since about 2 weeks now from DIFFERENT numbers evry single day calling2-3 times a day to purchase Acura Extended Warranty for our Acura!!!! All the calls started right after my visit to this dealership for a recall service on the Acura. I do not own this vehicle and these callers keep linking my name with this Acura!!!! So how did someone get my home number and my name and my car info?? My name is on insurance which very well their technicians can look into or whoever had so much interests in giving out All of my info! Got again a call from 803-597-1113. So I looked up this number. Someone has complained just like me " jmccoy41 Keeps calling trying to sell me an extended warranty on a vehicle I purchased about a year and a half ago. A. The same company uses many different numbers. They continue to call, even though I have told them to remove my number. B. When you buy a vehicle, tell the dealership they are NOT authorized to give out your number. That is the only way this company could have gotten my number. I have told the dealership I will never be back because of the harassing number of phone calls I have gotten knowing that they were the only ones that could have given my information out. " This is just 1 of the 15 different numbers that caller have used. Unless Acura gives out all our info there is no way someone will start calling right after my visit to McDaniels Acura!! Not only for service but just in Dec 2016 when we were shopping for Acura MDX, the Salesman went to call the Manager. He came and shook hands with my hubby and then me. Guess what? This person made an issue on a hand shake that hope my wife didn't see me shake my hubby's hands first and then he kept looking at security cameras around!!! Dealing with the salesman (John) at the beginning was a a good experience. Then, once the manager (Otis) got involved, towards the middle to the end, things I started going sour. Repairs to the vehicle prior to purchase was part of the deal agreement and the numbers. Several times I requested for the paperwork from the maintenance department reflecting the details of the repairs, I was always given the run around and my messages to the manager were never returned. The paperwork was never provided. The Finance representative lied to me over the phone stating that everything was good to go and when I arrived to the dealership then he tells me that there's like a $800 gap. The salesman called me requesting for an estimated time of arrival so he could be expecting me. Once I arrived and requested him to the receptionist, she informed me that it was his day off. The salesman never showed up. I requested once again to the finance representative for the maintenance paperwork and I was given the run around again. I haven't received a single phone call about anything even after I requested to be contacted. I'm so disgusted with the negligence, don't trust this dealership at all and would not recommend McDaniels Acura to anyone. BUYER'S BEWARE! read more

Horrible Experience - I just purchased a used 2009 Acura MDX and I am still amazed at how bad of an experience it was to purchase a vehicle from this dealership. I enjoyed working with the salesman, Joe, and I feel like I got an OK deal on the car (or else I would have quickly walked away), but pretty much everything else was a textbook case of "what not to do when selling a car", in my opinion. Perhaps my expectations were too high, but honestly I expected far more honestly, integrity and a far higher caliber of service from luxury car dealership like Acura. Basically what happened is, like everyone else, I wanted the best price possible on the vehicle - after a bit of "haggling", Joe talked to the Used Car Manager and gave me the best possible price. After a little bit of time thinking about it, I agreed to pay the price they quoted me. I was genuinely EXCITED about getting the MDX. I came in the next day, took it to my mechanic to get it checked out, let my wife look at it again and then came back to the dealership to finalize the deal. Joe confirmed the price with me, I filled out the paperwork/contract and we were off and running (or so I thought). This is when the problems started, the Used Car manager came in and said that he never agreed to that price, could not sell it for that price and would not sell it for that price. He said if I wanted the MDX, I would have to pay about $1,000 more to get it. Joe (the salesman) knew that was the price he had been told to give me (he even had it written down in his notes), but the Used Car manager denied it. At this point, Joe offered to have the difference taken out of his paycheck (but that wasn't the right answer either). I was completely shocked at what was going on and I left the dealership. I was MAD that I had spent that much time working on this (we were signing the final paperwork when this happened) and still did not have a car to show for my efforts. I expected them to come back and make things right, but they didn't!!! This shocked me also. After sending an email to the owner and the General Manager, I got an email back from the GM agreeing to split the difference with me. Honestly, that was more of a slap in the face than anything else. It was not about the money as much as the integrity (or lack thereof). Ultimately, I agreed to do the deal and pay the $500 extra because even with the extra money, I still felt like it was a good financial deal for me, but I did it very reluctantly. I am still not sure if this was the "right" decision to purchase it anyway, but I really do like the car. The rest of the process was similarly painful - it took them a very long time to get the car cleaned (it still was not cleaned right) and seemed to drag on and on. I am still amazed at their overall lack of character. I have bought a lot of vehicles in the past and wanted a good experience with this one, but did not get it. In the middle of this process, I asked the GM if he was concerned about the potential for online reviews - but that clearly was not a concern in the least for him. I will also share that I am telling everybody I know about this experience. If someone makes a comment about my new car, I am telling them about the process that I went through to get it. I intend to post this review in other places online because I want as many folks to know about this experience as possible. The sad part is that all of this could have been avoided if they had just made things right. They put a "lifetime" warranty on car and they made some other promises about service, but at this point, I have very low expectations. The only real words that I have to describe the experience are "shocked" and "amazed" - in a very bad way. I have a Toyota and I recent got new tires. I have a tire that won't let me put air in it and it's leaking. I just drove here from a gas station after I attempted to put air in my tire. Even though there is a Toyota dealership near by (there services department is disrespectful and unprofessional) the service manager offered to add air and look at my valve free of charge. I am very happy with the service and professionalism I received at McDaniels Acura. I worked with Miles when I came in to look at a MDX. He sat me down and offered me water or coffee and we spoke about everything I wanted in my new vehicle. He pulled the car around while I waited in the warm dealership and he showed me everything I needed to know in the car. We took it on a test drive and he showed me all the safety features that I was really interested in. After the test drive we sat down and we came to an agreement on price, I was not going to leave without this car!! I know I got an awesome deal and I couldn't be happier. Even after my purchase Miles sat down with me in the car and went over all my personalized settings. I thought that was exceptional, I didn't feel like all they wanted was my money, they actually cared about me and my needs.
