We have enjoyed many events at McCurdy's Comedy! The entertainment has always left us laughing and smiling! I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys comedy! read more

The servers are all amazing. They are fast and work as one big team. The menu has many options and you can mix and match your "required" purchases. Our table had no problems with ordering and receiving drinks. We didn't order food but what we saw looked ok. The place is very nice inside. There is a separate lounge area inside the door that is convenient for waiting or chatting. We went for a concert and look forward to more in the future. The location is walking distance so we didn't need parking but you should have no problem finding a spot. read more

Food service show easy to park inexpensive. Very enjoyable evening. I have to post 85 characters

This place is the best live venue for comedy in Sarasota county. The beer is cold, the drinks are for the most part well made, the staff is friendly and fun. It's great that they serve throughout the show, too. The food is bar food. Best to have dinner before going to the show and enjoy some basic snacks. House rule requires a 2 item per person minimum. It can be any combination of food, sodas, or alcohol drinks. Extremely reasonable. And the staff is super helpful in guiding you. There is no bad view. The mood is dark, intimate and definitely full of laughs. Bathrooms are spotless and it's great to have it stocked. Definitely worth a visit for a great date night. read more

Absolutely the funniest show I've seen. The room is large with a ton of tables so there's plenty of space for a celebration etc. line up was good and host was funny. Two item minimum purchase on top of ticket. Desert was delicious read more

Went to see a rising comedian from NY here on a Friday night. This place has been a staple for live entertainment. It is a small intimate venue with tables and chairs. They serve food and have a full bar. The beer was cold and mixed drinks were good. The food was what I call "bar food" Items that go well with drinks. They offer Fresh baked large Pretzels, coconut shrimp, burgers, nachos, chips & salsa to mention a few. The servers were excellent, serving throughout the show. The comedian was Anthony Rodia and he was excellent. His opener was goumba Johnny. a famous disk jockey from New York's WKTU radio. This venue is up close and personal which made it a great show. A lot of famous comedians started out here There is a parking garage behind the place.. read more

Fun night filled with three comedians, good drinks and nachos. Easy to park in the garage next door. Check out their line up ahead of time online, and have a grown up night out! read more

Fun place for a date night with your significant other or friends. Drinks were decent, and the food was pretty good!

For a good time go to McCurdy's! The comedians were all funny and seasoned. The venue inside is intimate. There is a lounge area to wait for your party to arrive and to order drinks while you wait. The 2 drink minimum is tricky: If you order a drink in the lounge area while you wait for the doors to open for seating, those drinks do NOT count towards the minimum. The drink menu is varied but can be pricey for a small pour (or even Coke or bottled water). The food menu is much more reasonably priced (but you have to like bar food and not have food sensitivities). Overall, I highly recommend McCurdy's for a fun-filled evening (keeping these things in mind). There is plenty of parking and we left with huge smiles on our faces. read more

Great service, good drinks, and best of all great comedians. Your typical comedy club ambiance- dark and quiet except for all the laughing that goes on when the comedians come on. A great place for laughs. Street parking is available. read more

Absolutely everything! The first time we went, we went to the bar first my husband's in a wheelchair, and it was extremely accommodating. Everyone was very helpful. It was a lively, upbeat atmosphere later. The theater was accommodating as well, which is a difficult for someone in a wheelchair we always run into problems. However, not here.! prompt drinks were great. The food was good and we had a great time. We've been there a number of times afterwards and we're never disappointed.!; read more

This was my first time in this comedy club. We went to see Anthony Rodia. The nice thing about this comedy club is you can sit right up front. Although, even if you are sitting in the back you are still pretty close. The seats and very small tables are very close. You will be shoulder to shoulder with whoever is sitting next to you. They have a 2 item per person minimum. They offer a menu with food, drinks and snacks. We found the menu prices to be fair and not overly expensive. There are servers that walk around taking orders. We had beers, drinks & snacks. I ordered a s'mores martini. It was delicious but very small. There wasn't much in the glass and I wouldn't order it again. The beers were cold and delicious and the snacks were all fine. The mixed drinks at other tables looked good. There was a comedian before Rodia to warm up the crowd, Goumba Johnny. Goumba Johnny used to be on the radio WKTU in New York. He was very funny and made the crowd laugh. Anthony Rodia was excellent!! If you have the chance to see him I highly recommend going. read more

If you need an evening of laughter and a few cocktails then head on out to McCurdys. Two drink minimum, light food stuffs. McCurdys draws the top comics on Americas comedy circuit. There is also an opportunity to attend comic school if so desired. Stop by and enjoy an evening of laughter read more

Have been there many times always have a great time always fun. Food is OK. Drinks are good. Help is great-besides the douche bag that was screaming at us before Steve O out in front of the building that wasn't affiliated with this place everything's always awesome read more

Saw local Sarasota veteran comedian Al Ernst - he's a must see. Better than acts I've seen in Vegas. The club is well run. Lots of parking in nearby structure. Two drink minimum and servers are available without being intrusive to the show. My rum drink was well done. Box office will call friendly and helpful. I will continue to patronize McCurdy's. read more

Had a great time. Entertainment is top shelf. Only critique is the 2 drink min - came right after do. We and drinks. Trying to scarf down two more in a narrow window seemed forced. Wound rather have just added that cost to the ticket. But that mag just be me. Didn't take away from the experience. Had an absolute blast, and there's not a bad seat in the house. read more

This place was actually really good the comedian we saw we really liked and everything was very funny, even the owner who did his own heart and telling jokes aside, she was really funny, so overall, the comedy show was really really good, and I will certainly come back. They certainly had a strange rule that I've never heard before that when you sit at your table, you have to face the stage, and so if you are with a group of people, prepared not to really look at each other or interact and enjoy the jokes together. They also do have a two item policy in which you have to purchase either two beverages or food which I guess is not a terrible idea because you typically will get that but if you don't Drink alcohol you would have to get food. Very likely, we will be coming back here depending on the comedians that come in in the near future read more

Saw Yakov Smirnoff at McCurdys. The opening act on the main show were great. This was our second time here and both have been great shows at reasonable prices. read more

To drink minimum, the place is fantastic. You can get a bite to eat and drink here as well.

Staff very rude and 4 tables kicked out for laughing to loud. Comedy acts were drunk. Not recommended

We had tickets to see a comedian a few months ago. Show was really good. The seating was fine. My only issue was wait staff never got around to our table. I had to wander around to find someone who could take the order for the four of us. As they charge each person for two drinks it was not so good. Overall a good experience though. I'd definitely go back. read more

Our first visit and the first night on stage since pre-pandemic for the comedians. As a caveat - this is tight quarters, no masks required, so judge your level of comfort in the current Covid environment. For a comedy club, this was clean, well organized, and service extremely efficient. Parking is next door in the multi-level garage. Be patient after the show with everyone leaving at the same tome. Valet parking suspended for now. Tickets available on line with pre-assigned seating. $25 after tax. You are required to purchase two (2) items per person once seated - from food or drink menu. All seats (except the corner) are four-tops, so you'll be sitting really close to others unless your purchase all four. Views are good from anywhere in the room. Seats are pre-assigned. The bar area is open 1/2 hour before seating begins - same menu as inside. Items purchased at bar DO NOT COUNT toward the two item minimum. Tables are small - 24" square - shared with all four. Tight, but manageable with drinks, water and food. We shared some apps - a good soft (and hot) pretzel bar dish, and spring rolls, as well as a chicken quesadilla. All decent, but the you're not here for the food, are you?. The four (4) comedians, from host Al Erntz through headliner Steve White were highly entertaining! Lots of good laughs. All spoke of the time since they last performed and had time to write lots of new material. So pick your headliner and head on in. We had a great time. We'll be back. read more

McCurdy's is an easy place to have a fun and reasonably priced night out. It's a small and intimate venue which I like. They pack people in at tiny little tables-and it can get rather warm in there-so it's not the most comfortable in that regard. Drinks are good and reasonably priced-(with the exception of sodas and water since they have to make something on their 2-drink minimum for the non-alcoholic drinkers). The only thing I really don't like is the grumpy servers. I've been 3 times and each time the servers act like they're doing you a huge favor. Last night our waitress (thin, older woman) was just plain nasty and for absolutely no reason. It's a comedy club for goodness sakes; play the part of 'happy.' read more

Lots CNN of fun, good drinks we didn't eat there! We'll go back to see some comedy, this time it was for burlesque! read more

Always a great experience at McCurdy's! Well run with always a great line up of comedians like JJ and Carmen last night. They have a green room before you get seated where you can get a cocktail. They are upfront with you to let you know that the drinks you order in that room do not count to the 2 item minimum. The two items include their food or any drink. We have snacked many times in the past and have not been disappointed. If you are looking to have a great night out put this venue into your lineup! read more

Did not eat last night, but the champagne was good. The staff was too, everyone was very nice from start to finish. Les was great as always! Sheena was very funny and super pretty. She's a class act. Dale was hilarious! We were bursting with laughter w Dale. Such incredible talent. What is better than comedians putting a huge smile on your face My gf and I were celebrating our birthdays and we couldn't have chosen a funnier show. Our cheeks still hurt. It was a perfect night Thank you McCurdy's and the exceptional comedians for the gift of laughter xo read more

If you want to laugh and meet nice down to earth happy people this is your place. The green Room where you walk in serves some great drinks and very cold beers. Tickets were free to show... mandatory food purchase min with tip and 2- drinks each+ 20% was $96. Very nice server. First two "comedians obviously "in training" lol. We're like someone trying to be funny but didn't attempt to prepare at all. Last guy was funny. Food was awful. Drinks like wine were 2-min pp Maybe 5-6 oz. $12 @ ($58 with tip). Ok for "diff" night out. Was pleased for the most part comedians were not vulgar. Few F bombs but but only several times not constant like some. Could be interesting for a change. read more

Service was great and the show was terrific. I would definitely return for another show. The ambiance is a true comedy club

The two item minimum is wrong. Food is super expensive. Because of this food policy, wait staff is constantly blocking my view. They did a good job trying, but they couldn't. When I bought the tickets for the show, the two item minimum was not mentioned. I will never see a show at this place again. read more

This club had a great atmosphere and proudly demonstrated its history. I enjoyed attending one night when there were three headliners. One was clearly the strongest of the bunch, but it was fun to see the variety of styles. The service was not great during the show and seemed a bit scattered. Our bill ended up being incorrect, too, which led to us needing to stick around a little longer until it was corrected. Outside of that, the flow of moving people through the theater, getting to seats, accessing restrooms, etc. were very good. read more

The place is old and run down needs to be renovated! Announcement from owner is rude " there will be NO conversations or loud behavior " we felt punished to be there sit and be quiet It should be a fun place with a better menu options not to mention drinks are not strong rip off ! read more

Went on 4/23/24, Headliner was great, however the first mc you couldn't understand and the second mc wasn't funny in my option. The price of drinks were raised and the amount was smaller. Not a good experience and not up to McCurdy's above average standards. Very disappointing. read more

We chose to spend our 40th anniversary at this comedy club. The comedienne, Lynne Koplitz, was HILARIOUS! Our server was not. There were six of us, and when one of my friends ordered a Bahama Mama with banana liquor added, our server Matt insisted that their Bahama Mamas are always made with banana liquor. I'm here to tell you that they are not. Matt wouldn't know that though, because he never came around to see if her drink was okay. My friend took her drink to the bar, and they tried to make it right, but it still sucked. For the price, it should have been done right, and I never would have paid for it. The club has a rule that each patron must purchase two items from their menu, be it a drink or food. I can't eat AND drink at the same time, so my husband got a beer and a soda, and then we split a couple of food items. The beer was five bucks and some change, and the soda was about a buck more. WTH? The food was the usual bar food with the same usual prices. We got potato barrels, and while they were pretty good, I don't think they were worth the price. We also got a chicken quesadilla, and surprisingly, it had quite a bit of meat in it. I think the next time we go, we will just get fries and some chips with salsa. I tried one of my friend's chips, and they were just the way I like them. One more thing to note, the tickets say "doors open at 5:30". It should say "doors to the BAR open at 5:30, with seating starting at 6:00". read more

Follow the Yellow Brick Road down to McCurdy's Comedy Theater! We always have an amazing time at McCurdy's! We have been coming here for the last four years or so, seeing big names and locals, and we always laugh our butts off! We love being able to pick out exactly which seats we want, and usually the ticket prices are all the same, no matter where you sit. They have a great selection of cocktails, beer and wines, I always like to try one of their signature cocktails or mules when we are there. They have a two item minimum per person in the show room (18% gratuity added), and we usually stick to drinks, but we have seen some food delivered to tables and it looks pretty good. The showroom can be really tight, so if you are claustrophobic, I recommend buying tickets for tables on the end of an aisle or towards the back. You can be shoulder to shoulder with your neighbor at times. Once you started to frequent McCurdy's, they put your name, birthday and anniversary into their system, and will occasionally call you when they need to fill seats in the showroom, free tickets but of course you are still required to purchase your two items. McCurdy's makes for an amazing date night that doesn't totally break the bank. We've been to McCurdys three times this year already, and are going back again next month, we can't wait! read more
