Lighthouse Park - Round Island Lighthouse, Lighthouse Park, Pascagoula

Yes, it is a beautiful lighthouse but it is a serious pain to visit. There is no parking nearby and…read morethe road that passes in front of it is one way. You'll end up looping all the way around and under the Pascagoula River High Rise Bridge to come back to it. Or, you'll follow the signs and end up crossing over the bridge to make a u-turn and come back over the bridge to get to the lighthouse which still has no parking. We were here at 8am on Sunday morning so I just did an illegal parking move, put the flashers on for a few minutes, and got my eye level tour of the lighthouse. Which is impressive. The Round Island Lighthouse began in 1833 as a brick tower guiding ships through the Mississippi Sound, then was rebuilt in 1859 with a taller red brick structure and a fourth order Fresnel lens. The Confederacy removed the lens during the Civil War, but the light returned afterward and stayed in service until 1949 before being used as a day beacon for a few more years. Erosion and neglect took their toll, and by the time the city received the property in 1986 the tower was already fragile. Hurricane Georges toppled it in 1998, and Katrina destroyed the partial rebuild in 2005. The surviving base was moved to the Pascagoula waterfront in 2010, where restoration continues to preserve what remains of the original lighthouse. Definitely stop by to see it and be creative with your parking. [Review 309 of 2026 - 116 in Mississippi - 25497 overall]

This park is near the location of the Pascagoula UFO Incident of 1973, a case where Calvin Parker…read moreand Charles Hickson were abducted by robot-like beings, taken into a spaceship and then released. Across from them, another couple was abducted at the same time, a woman named Mary Blair and her husband. This case was reported to the police and multiple witnesses came forward. There are plenty of books and documentaries on this incident, because it has been documented and has multiple witnesses of the lights, spaceship, and abduction. Research it. The event itself occurred right across from this park, over the water, next to the shipyard. If you drive to the shipyard, you actually can walk on the exact sport where Parker and Hickson were abducted, as well as Mary Blair. I thought you'd like to know...

They took care of my needs when I walked in to get a few parts. They didn't hesitate to ask what I…read morewas looking for and they were able to pull up the parts I needed for my Outboard on the computer. I was in a out fast ready to do some much needed maintenance on my outboard.

Im not too happy at all…read more First let me say that the people at the desk are very nice and this is probably not their fault. I think maybe the company is owned by greedy people. I took my tiny little boat in there to have the engine checked out because it would not run correctly. Just a 25 HP motor. They quoted me about $150 to diagnose the motor. I left it there and after a few days they called to tell me that it was a bad fuel pump. I had already pulled the pump and tested it and told them that. They said it would be around $600 for a new vct and fuel pump. I told them that could not be it because I already tested it. They said they would re diagnose it and after a few more days they told me I had low compression on one of the cylinders and that I needed a new powerhead, basically a new motor. They then told me that they had almost $1000 in billing on checking it out which shocked me because the bill was supposed to be about $150. It gets better, keep reading. So, they said Suzuki was offing a special trade in deal on new motors and if I let them keep the motor I could buy the new motor for about $4400 give or take $100, I am going from memory but it was around that price. What a deal right? The other option was for me to pay them about $500 (a reduced price from the almost $1000 they claimed they had in billing on checking my motor out) and take my broken motor home and not buy a new motor from them. So they overcharged me by a lot and were holding my motor and boat hostage. I called around and found a great dealer in Florida (boat max marine) who sold me a brand new motor for $500 less than roughwallet quoted. (it was the exact same model number) AND that included free shipping and no sales tax. I called roughwallet before pulling the trigger to see if they could match the price and they would not lower their price AT ALL! So, the special they claimed that Suzuki was offering (a limited time offer) seemed to be a complete sham. How could Suzuki's offer be real if I could buy the same motor from another retailer for less money without giving them my motor for free. If there was such a real deal from Suzuki it is my opinion that rough water marine would be keeping the money that should go to me. So I paid the raping fee of $459, took my motor and boat home. I purchased the new motor from boat marine max and installed it on the boat. I then advertised parts off the motor they said was bad and to this date have sold over $2000 in parts off of that motor and have a lot left. Also I found after selling so many parts that the power head appears to be good. It had a bad head gasket. So I paid rough water for a bogus engine report. It did not need a new power head at all. There were other occasions where I purchased things from them. They are very proud of their pricing but are comparable on some things with Furlands in Gautier where I will be purchasing in the future if I need things in a hurry instead of ordering online. It is important to note that to get that deal from boat max marine I did not have to give them my old motor. I got to keep it so rough water marine was going to make money on my old motor, thousands! and they wanted me to not only give it to them for free but on top of that pay $500 more for the new motor they claimed I was getting a great deal on with my trade in. I dont feel the need to ever darken the door of roughwater ever again. I feel that roughwater marine is like a casino, if you decide to do business with them you most likely lose every time.
