Hay-Barn Automotive & Diesel Repair - broken ball joint caused by improper technician installation

Hay-Barn Automotive & Diesel Repair

(5 reviews)

Warning: Safety Failure, Negligent Installation, and Predatory Billing…read more I am writing this to warn others of my experience with this shop. After paying for a clutch replacement, my vehicle suffered a catastrophic mechanical failure while in motion. The ball joints--which were installed by this shop--popped out of the lower control arm, causing the wheel assembly to collapse and resulting in significant damage to the axle, wheel, and body. An independent inspection by a certified mechanic confirmed the failure was due to improper and negligent installation, not a part defect. Beyond the safety failure, the billing practices here are predatory: Double-Dipping on Labor: I was charged two full, separate labor fees for a clutch and flywheel replacement, which are overlapping procedures. Charging for Shop Errors: Technicians broke my brake caliper and the original ball joints during the repair; instead of taking responsibility, the shop charged me for the replacement parts. Lack of Accountability: I have sent a formal, legal demand letter via certified mail detailing these issues. The shop has received the letter but has completely neglected and ignored all communication. If you value your safety and your wallet, I strongly recommend taking your vehicle elsewhere. I have filed a formal complaint with the Arkansas Attorney General and am pursuing further legal action.

Carlton Truck and Trailer - Carlton Truck & Trailer Repair

Carlton Truck and Trailer

I reserved a U-Haul through this place to be picked up at 8:00 a.m. when they opened. When I showed…read moreup, nobody appeared to be there, since the lights were off and the door was still locked. I knocked on the door and tried the door with no results. I called the number on the building, I called the number on the U-Haul website, and I called the number I found online and never got an answer. I called U-Haul customer support to see what I could do, and after a few minutes on the phone with them, someone pulled up in the driveway and went inside the building. I waited to see if they were opening, which they were not. A few minutes later, two people walked out of the building. One came out and asked if I was needing help while the other just went and sat in a truck. I stated yes I need to pick up a U-Haul trailer. He said let me drop off this paperwork. He walked across the street to the truck stop, and the other guy started backing out. The one in the truck pulled up next to me and asked what I needed. I told him I've been waiting to pick up a U-Haul trailer, and still haven't been able to get a hold of anybody. He began getting loud and rude with me stating that they were no longer a U-Haul dealer even though there were six or seven U-Haul trailers and a truck sitting on their lot. I said to him you still have trailers, you still have the sign up saying U-Haul dealer, and you are still linked on the U-Haul website. He started screaming and said I don't give a f*** what that says, we're not a f****** U-Haul dealer, they just won't come get their s***. I raised my voice and ask if he was going to get me the trailer that was reserved from their property, and he told me in a loud aggressive voice to get the f*** off of his property. He didn't have to do s***. I 10 out of 10 would not recommend using this company for any sort of business as this is obviously how they treat their customers based on other reviews as well.

06/09/21, FIRST OFF BELIEVE THE REVIEWS ON THIS PLACE…read more.. On this date I pulled into the T/A Truck Stop in Prescott AR with a bad water pump on a Volvo D13 engine. Had (mechanic) at the T/A as a professional mechanic to validate my self diagnosed water pump issue which he did. Well if you drive a truck for a living? We all know how getting any work done due to corporate rules at a T/A can be expensive. Just giving you the story foundation. So this Carlton Truck & Trailer Repair service was literally right across the street and I went to ck them out as to hopefully a better over all price. Well labor was cheaper then T/A and they were willing to order a water pump out of Texarkana approximately one hour away without an UPCHARGE I believe is what T/A calls it for pick up and delivery. So I'm thinking because T/A referred them and price was better I'd have them do the work . (Now you have to understand I'm a very lite hearted type person and I love to joke around for a smile is much more pleasant to deal with then a frown). So onward, I walked back over to the T/A paid my diagnosis fees and lost my spot in the shop when I pulled out in order to cross the street and pull in to this Carlton Shop. Once I pulled in myself and two mechanics I ASSUMED were cuttin up and joking around while they attempted to lift my hood. Well it was OBVIOUS none of them knew how a hood latch on a Volvo works and were trying to open the hood from the outside, when the truck hood latch is on the inside of the truck. I was standing on my door steps with my hand on the latch ready to pull. While Laughing at a remark made. Just about that time the shop Mgr I assume being as my description to people at T/A stated this was NOT the owner, who is evidently a tall heavyset man. This guy was tall with a scruffy grey goatee slender and older then the other two guys that were there, walked out into the bay. ((Laughingly)) I asked out loud to all three " you guys sure ya know how to work on a truck when ya can't even get the hood open"? And suddenly even though the two other guys were laughing and giving me a hard time back. The guy from the office looked at me and stated "F*** You" get your truck out of my shop!". At first I THOUGHT the guy was joking himself being he was looking at a potential $1.5 to $2k dollar repair job. But when I questioned him ( "are you serious bud?"). He stated ("you heard me "get the F*** outta my shop"). Sorta in shock I stated (" hey bud I was just joking around I wasn't serious, if I offended you I APOLOGIZE! It was not my intent"). But again he made the same remark and told me he didn't need my business. Note* from the looks of the shop? he truly did. While this was transpiring, the other two guys looked at me as if to apologize for this guys attitude and walked away silently shaking their heads I believe in as much disbelief as myself. So I went back across the street and commissioned the T/A to perform the work. HONESTLY FOLKS! With this guy as the possible Mgr? Or even worse possibly the actual owner? I did not care that T/A was going to charge me more money! For even IF this guy had walked across the street to the T/A and apologized to ME for his attitude. I wouldn't have taken my truck back over there. For as I was pulling out of his shop he yelled at me one last time stating. (" Hey just know the Volvo shop in Texarkana only had one water pump and I already bought it for your piece of S**t truck and it's in route right now to be delivered. So when T/A tells you they can't get a pump because I bought their last one? You can WALK back over here and I MIGHT sell it to you, but; know this; IT WON'T BE CHEAP!.... I immediately called the Volvo shop to validate whether or not they only had the one pump which turned out to be true. But this man had lied for the delivery truck had NOT left the shop yet. Also he lied as to already paying for the part, he ordered it on account according to parts dept at Volvo. I explained the issue to the Volvo guy and asked if I could still buy the $522 part. He said yes I paid over the ph with a card and part was delivered to me AT the T/A. Boy! Ya can't imagine how tempted I was to walk over with part in hand. Stick it in his face so to say and truly tell him what I thought. But! God's word says " Vengeance is mine saith the Lord" and that's good enough for me. So hopefully this helps someone out and know that if this app would allow it? I would have given this shop a (-5 star review) may the good Lord bless each and everyone.
