Our house dates from 1949, as did the septic tank, a galvanized tin container about 6' in diameter,…read moreno leach field. As the tank had caved in recently, we no longer had a functioning system (which indeed backed into the house at Christmas time.) After we trenched out the old system and at least got liquids flowing, we sought out bids to replace. Not only did the whole system have to get rebuilt to code, but we also had to deal with shale rock inches below the lawn and a wooded area leading down the hillside for the site of the leach field. Given the scope of the project, the first contractor we spoke to was never heard from again. J&R Contracting, headed up the the father and son team of Rick and Rick, arrived 2 days after we called, sized up the project, gave us a realistic estimate given the challenges of the site (e.g. assume an extra day to jack hammer through the shale to create a pit.) We said, "Sure!" Rick took a deposit to pay for the construction of a low profile holding tank, said they'd be back to do the job when the tank was ready. Sure enough, 3 weeks later, the team showed up with two backhoes, a dozer, trucks to transport in sand and topsoil, and chainsaws. We mapped out an area for the tank and leach field, and then they got to work. Over three days a level area was created for the leach field after removing some scrub trees. Specimen trees were tagged and left alone. The big project was jack hammering out the pit, as deep as I am tall. The tank was lowered in, piping connected and soil smoothed over. As J&R already had all the equipment on site, we asked for two days of extra work to bring in ten loads of sand and topsoil to regrade the lawn, reshaping to direct rainfall and winter melt away from the house foundations. The final step in late April will be to distribute shade tolerant grass seed across the new lawn. The final bill matched the original estimate. The added time and materials for sculpting the lawn was, of course, extra. The results far exceeded our expectations.

Mine had not been pumped in nearly 15 years, so I gave Maggio & Sons a call. I was amazed that they offered to fit my house in their schedule for the very next day. The only requirement was that I have my tank top open and ready for them when they arrived. (So....you must locate and dig to expose your septic tank cover on your own -- usually not difficult). They arrived with their truck right on time the next day, navigated their huge truck backwards up my narrow drive expertly and had the pump pumping into the truck in just a few minutes. The whole pumpout process took only 15-20 minutes, and they were gone. Very courteous, efficient service. I recommend Maggio and Sons for septic service unhesitatingly. It would be an understatement that my project was complicated and intimidating. Sitting on a 50 +…read morefoot high cliff, I had a retaining wall separating from my backyard in desperate need of replacement. Limited access to the property and backyard further complicated the scope and ease of executing this project. My wife and I solicited several inquiries from different contractors, and were only made more aware of the complications and challenges ahead based upon the lack of willingness many demonstrated in taking on this project for us. Finding a contractor willing to navigate the challenges of the property while executing within a realistic timeline and within an affordable price seemed impossible. That was until we spoke with Maggio. Artie was confident from day one that he and his team would be able to create an attainable resolution. Artie and his team came up with several approaches we could take on executing the retaining wall replacement, provided us a reasonable price, and then met every benchmark set during our project planning and execution. While on site, Maggio's team was efficient and effective proceeding with care and safety but working at a pace that exceeded our expectations. The completed work is gorgeous and far exceeded our expectations for what our backyard would look like. It's already been such a tremendous relief to have our backyard secured, rebuilt, and drained correctly to avoid erosion damage like we experienced with the previous retaining wall. Through the entire process, we felt like Maggio was working with us to succeed on this project and continually exceeded our expectations. I have no doubt now that not only was Maggio the right team for this project, but the right team for any future landscaping/hardscaping projects that remain for my property in the future. Thank you Artie, Stephen, and Peter Maggio for all your support and hard work here at Cliff House.

We needed to have it fixed or otherwise would've had to tell everyone to go home :( We searched for a septic company on the internet - we spoke with many companies that told us that they could not help us until after the holiday weekend was over. I finally reached Baumanns septic company - and told my story to the owner on the phone! She was very compassionate to our situation and sent 2 gentleman over to pump out the septic and fix the situation for us. We were so grateful to them, coming out on the Sunday of a holiday weekend when others turned us down. And the men were friendly and thorough with the job! I would highly recommend this company for all of your septic needs. We will certainly be using them for all of our septic maintenance in the future. Thank you Baumann's!

I'd like to offer my highest recommendation for Superior Sanitation…read more To give a little background, I found myself in a nightmare situation because of a complete hack job by another septic company. I hired them to install a brand-new, updated septic system because I was preparing to sell my home. During the sale process, the system failed inspection. To make matters even worse, the company that installed the new tank completely ghosted me, leaving me to deal with the mess on my own and putting my home sale at risk. Superior Sanitation came out promptly, thoroughly assessed the situation, and put together a quote for me very quickly. They even managed to squeeze me into their busy schedule so they could repair the damage caused by the previous company. From the moment they arrived, I could tell I was dealing with true professionals. Their knowledge, attention to detail, and use of camera equipment to inspect the system gave me tremendous peace of mind. Unlike the previous company, Superior actually knew what they were looking at and took the time to explain everything to me. Throughout this incredibly stressful experience, everyone I talked to--including my plumber--spoke very highly of Superior Sanitation. Now I completely understand why. Every person I dealt with, both on the phone and in person, was professional, accommodating, kind, and genuinely cared about helping me. I am beyond grateful that Superior Sanitation came to my rescue and fixed what another "pro" had completely botched. They turned an incredibly stressful situation into one I could finally move forward from. If you're looking for an honest, knowledgeable, and dependable septic company, I recommend Superior Sanitation without hesitation. They have earned my trust, and I will recommend them 100% of the time!
