Location brings other things too, like the constant feeling that the security people are going to jump you if you move too close to anything in the shop! And price are a little higher than the more suburban pharmacies, but I guess you can't complain when the location and opening hours probably make that necessary.

Hickey's Pharmacy on O'Connell Street may be small but it packs in a lot of stuff. Shelves are…read morelabelled and divided into specific sections (e.g. baby care or women's health) so finding what you need becomes child's play. The chemist behind the counter is quite helpful, recommending what medication and products to take over others. Hickey's stocks basic cosmetic and beauty products so if you need hair spray or concealer in a pinch, you can find it here. One more thing worth mentioning is that it has a digital photo machine that prints and does enlargements.

For those in need of cold remedy after hours your best bet is to search for an open Spar or Centra (the larger the better) and hope they've got what you need behind the counter. There was a young lad ahead of me that appeared to have 1st degree burns on his hands but he was having issues with the credit card that he was using - it was his Mam's and he forgot the PIN.... Very trusting Mam. My point is they stuck to procedure and explained that they needed the pin but they let him use the phone and basically it all ended in happiness.
