After his passing I continued my study with one of his students. Since moving away to college I've spent almost 5 years studying under a professor of piano at Brigham Young University. In total, I've had 23 incredible years of sitting in my favorite spot--the piano bench. And now I'm excited to start publicly advertising my work as a special events pianist. The piano bench is my favorite spot because it's the place where emotions are communicated, atmosphere is made, and beauty is created. Ever since attending one of my dad's corporate Christmas parties, I dreamed of playing at big events (be it weddings, company parties, or other celebrations) and creating that atmosphere that makes a celebration what it is. From many email convos over the 12 months from when we booked them to when the actual wedding event was he was always quick to respond. Especially when about 2-3 days before the wedding I decided to change the song our pianist was going to play for the wedding procession. And when I asked for what I thought was maybe a little out there he always responded with a casual response in that they were happy to try to make it happen....and they did! Planning a wedding and communicating with a bunch of vendors is a lot of work so it's incredibly nice to be working with someone who knows what they're doing and can simplify one of the many many details! At the start he sent us a customer profile for our event where we listed our preferred types of music, the songs we wanted played in our ceremony and reception, a schedule/order of events for the whole day and details about the venue and equipment provided. He ended up bringing and using all of his equipment which was perfect! I (the bride) am kinda picky and when looking for a DJ was worried about the big awkward stereo equipment taking away from the prettiness of the venue. Ryan's set up was great! It was not over the top or distracting for the ceremony and for our reception he had a really cool looking set up with some LEDs that fit into the venue very nicely but wasn't obnoxious! We were lucky enough to be able to be able to have him set up during our rehearsal the night before which was so relieving because we could do a few run throughs with the music and it meant one less thing to get done the day of the wedding! He got the music for the ceremony perfectly mixed and set up a mic for us and our officiant to use. Our ceremony went so smoothly and beautifully with his help! For our reception he kept everything on a perfect schedule which was incredible because I am the most unorganized and late person every but he kept it all on track! He announced all the important details and events at the perfect time and helped keep the flow of the party going. Our music for dancing was PERFECT!!! He got our music taste spot on while making sure to pick songs everyone would know and want to dance to! I had so many guests tell us that they loved the music!! Overall Social Sound, specifically Ryan Messling, did an amazing job for our wedding and we were so thankful for his help!
