I struggled with whether to say something or not, but the comment "I didn't charge you enough..." is just ringing in my head. I hired Myrtle Carter and her business MCarter designs to decorate my sister's baby shower, and I am extremely disappointed in the way it turned out. Initially she charged me a $200 booking fee that didn't not go towards the $1,500.00 price she requested. The event was 7/11 and we had a conversation 6/2 about cutting the initial $1,500 budget to $1,000.00. She agreed to this budget and made several promises she did not keep. My balance was paid in full by 6/30 please see pictures below. We met at the venue 7/2 for a walk through and she did a rough draft of all she could do with the $1,000.00 budget. I have attached a picture of that and everything that is circled in blue had to be forced out of her the day of, 20 mins before the event, and her response was, "Well we cut the budget..." She didn't bring the 4ft table for games, short cocktail table for my sister and her husband to sit at, and no table for gifts, UNTIL I complained to her about that 20 mins till event start time. The things circled in RED I didn't receive at all. Instead of the blueberry tree/floral arrangement she was supposed to put on the center table between the round tables she put a 2 foot sign that I hat to purchase separately!!! I never got a welcome sign for the back door, and the one welcome sign I did get I paid for separately as well!!! The tables also didn't have any flowers on them, just water with one or two stems of blue beads... She had ONE backdrop with 4ft balloons from an Amazon order that was $12.99, which included 172 pieces...not sure where those other balloons went. Pictured below, and mind you my sister is 4'11 and her husband is 5'10, they BOTH COVERED THIS display in pictures... I did inform her about all this after the event because she was finishing up when my sister and her husband walked in... and that is when she asked if I liked everything. My only mistake was not addressing it then, and apparently thanking her "team" for helping do SOMETHING. It just wasn't the time or place to address that but now I'm mad I didn't, per her response below. I am thankful for the minor decor we received because if not I would have had absolutely nothing! The week of the event she called me complaining about the cost of pressing linen, and how she went overboard with purchasing fake flowers...this woman asked for more money more times than I can count. I'm so glad I didn't give in because I feel the end result would have been the same. She was HIGHLY UNPROFESSIONAL FOR THIS! & like I said I didn't see any flowers outside of this backdrop a runner on the treat table, and the table my sister and her husband sat at! The linen was also wrinkled. All in all this woman knows she didn't give me what was promised...& I just think you all should know about it. If you book her just expect it to be thrown together. I get so pissed when I look at our pictures and it shouldn't be like this!! read more
