This is your stereotypical chiropractor who claims they first have to redo your x rays for themselves even if you have current x rays from an actual doctor, then they see how many visits insurance will cover and tell you to come in as many times as possible and as quickly as possible so you eventually get to out of pocket expensed visits. All this for a 10 second back adjustment and some electrodes. I have been to many chiropractors and this place fits the typical stereotype. Used car salesman mentality here. read more

Only giving one star because it wouldn't allow me to give 0. My fiancé and I went to see Dr. McAfee for some Back and neck pain a couple of months ago. They seemed very nice and knowledgeable when we arrived and immediately discussed our complainants and decided we needed X-Rays to determine the source of our issues. When it was time to go over our X-Rays they gave us a lot of information that seemed really helpful and told us basically that we NEEDED treatment RIGHT AWAY so we wouldn't continue to get worse because we both had a lot of bad things showing in our X-Rays. They proceeded to let us know that it was going to be over $3000 to treat both of us and they like it paid in full, if we didn't want to pay in full it was more difficult for their staff to process the payments so it would cost more. We decided that was just too much money for us to pay at the time. My fiancé continued to have back pain so I made him an appointment with an Orthopedic Spine Specialist and they took X-Rays and did an MRI, the doctor said his spine looks great, this only one minor spot causing pain and it would be easy to treat with anti-inflammatory medication and 6 weeks of physical therapy. So before you dish out 3 grand to these crooks go get a second opinion because they are probably just trying to take your money. read more

Dr. MCAfee is a crook! He told me that my insurance would not cover much at all. Like these other people I paid up front. Months later I'm now seeing that he was billing my insurance over $450 a week!!! I went 12 weeks. That is on top of around $2800 I paid him. I still have the same terrible pain I had when I went in. I will say though the other Dr. there, Dr. Lance is awesome and actually listens to you. What he was doing started to help but I could no longer afford it. After the 12 weeks they wanted me to come back once a week for six months just for a adjustment and of course more money. So not only did he charge me all that money, he had been getting thousands more from my insurance he claimed wouldn't cover it. read more

While, I am always knocking something out of place or throwing my back out of whack, McAfee puts it back where it is supposed to be. Went in for two ribs out of place, ended up in the er, with two broken ribs & bruised my back chiropractor broke my ribs trying to put them in place, while I screamed & demanded him to stop, this was two days before Christmas, so yes the office was closed till January 2nd. Was like a heard of cattle being rushed in & out. If you want to get the great package & not file it on your ins, then yes hand over $2800 for the chiropractor to break some ribs & bruise your back & have to take off from work to rest from all of the damage & to deal with the excruciating pain you've ever felt, then this is the pretend chiropractor for you. Would've preferred 0 stars but that wasn't an option. Reported this issue to the state board. read more

The doctor was all about money upfront. Said his staff would kill him if he had them bill insurance every time someone came in. He wanted a large amount of money upfront, but my insurance co-pays are 25.00. He shouldn't claim he takes insurance. He was very arrogant too. He said someone else would take my 25.00, but they should call him to find out how to do treatment. I was so disappointed. He is very uncaring. read more

I WANT to like this place so badly. The people were SO nice, the office is clean and pleasant, and the DR was nice. I went twice and both experiences were good. On the second appointment we discussed my diagnosis and treatment plan. He did an adjustment and some treatment and then we discussed cost. He gave me a few options and, of course, with plans that require frequent visits the cost was high and something I asked to discuss my husband and get back with them. Afterwards, I emailed twice to ask about alternate treatment & payment plans, but received no response. About a month after that I got a letter in the mail saying that they realized I hadn't continued treatment and wanting me to complete a questionnaire about why I didn't return. I again noted that I was interested in treatment and had attempted to discuss other options because I couldn't 1)afford their initial plans and 2) couldn't make my schedule work with what they had proposed (4 times a week, but I work FT and have 3 children). I asked that they please email or call me to discuss other options and still NO ANSWER. Apparently they have more than enough business and don't need mine. read more

After my first and only appointment at McAfee Chiropractic I will not be returning for treatment. After the initial paperwork and interview with Dr. McAfee he took two x-rays. He then asked me to return in an hour while my X-rays processed and we would review them together. Upon returning we looked them over and talked about a treatment plan to be completed in 36 visits, 3/week. I discussed my schedule and how it wouldn't accommodate 3 weekly visits and we adjusted the plan for 1-2 visits a week. Now here is where it gets ugly. He began talking about the cost for the long term goal. He wanted me to make an upfront payment for close to $1000. He said this was a discounted rate from $1200 if I paid in full. Then there was a 3 payment option with less of a discount but still better than "full cost". I have very good insurance and it covers chiropractic visits, 30 per year with a $20 copay on each visit. I gave my insurance information to his office when I arrived so he knew what would be covered. When I inquired about my cost with insurance, I was told that due to the high volume of patients his office could not process a copay for each visit. He made it appear that I would not receive treatment if I didn't choose one of his "pay up front" options. I stood my ground and said I didn't see the benefit for me. He relented and agreed to the copayment at each visit but asked that I not tell anyone he was doing this for me because he just couldn't accommodate everyone (I'm not sure who he thought I would tell). He called his office manager in and proceeded to give me what I considered a hurried adjustment while he discussed my payment choice with her the entire time. He told her, as well, that they don't usually handle payment in that manner but they would "make a special consideration" for me. Both of his options would be close to double what I would be out of pocket if I used my insurance copays. I find it very convenient for him that he wanted 36 visits and my insurance covers 30. I feel that he wanted the hour break in my first visit to not only look over my x-rays, but to study my insurance coverage and plan a treatment that would get more money out of me. While I was checking out and paying to leave, his office manager (good cop) said that Dr. McAfee (bad cop) wanted her to explain why it was going to be more expensive than the total of my copays. She was very helpful but the whole experience felt wrong. I had intentions of visiting regularly, but he had the vibe of a used car salesman as opposed to a healthcare professional. I think a good doctor should have your best health interest in mind. I don't feel like the priority in this office is healthcare, but personal financial benefit. read more
