McAdam Buyrite is a good local wine and spirits shop with quite a good variety of what grandpa called 'hooch'. They carry a remarkable selection of New York local wines, especially those from the North Fork. Today we have found an amazing sparkling hard seltzer from Finland (Thank You, Joyce Wow) - named LONG DRINK. It has a lovely taste of light gin with subtle hints of grapefruit and elderberry laced in. I I found the bev quite refreshing and good for the upcoming Summer season! Do not place an order with them!!! I had to cancel my order because the driver was running over an hour late! In addition, they misled me but saying the driver was only 10 minutes away which was completely false! I was tracking the driver. And, when I called the store again, they hung up on me! They're not going to make business if they can't take accountability or be transparent with their customers. I support small businesses, but not ones that treat customers like that. read more

As the recent posters have said, this is a sad day for the neighborhood. It was a great store with excellent prices, a top notch selection of wine (particularly great with New York State Wines) and a wonderful owner and his staff. Now the prices have been jacked up severely and it looks like the selection of wines is on its way into the toilet. Awesome liquor store on 3rd and 28th that has a 10% off Yelp check in offer! I had one of the employees pick out a Sauvignon Blanc wine from New Zealand and was very fruity! Great selection and they are open until 9 pm which is late I suppose? 1 star off for closing early. read more

When I tell you , I'm love McAdam Buy-rite, let me tell you why. First of all they are up the street from where I live, but due to cov-19, I'm really not into being outside that much. I ordered 9 bottles of wine yesterday but due to the rainstorms I opted on their website to have the wine delivered at a time when the weather was good. Within minutes, they were ringing my door bell with the delivery. Fast, sufficient and very professional! Buy let me ask you this, have you ever been in the store? I just recently price compared and realized the prices are competitive here vs. the other nearby wine/liquor stores. This isn't exactly the quaint wine shop I like to frequent so there is no real expertise when it comes to wine selection and no extensive specialty brands. However, the layout is great (divided by region) and they have a pretty good bunch of wines. The guys here are not wine experts but they still know their stuff and will help you to the best of their knowledge. Prices are right and efficiency is A+. I live by Herald Sq so this place is bit out of the way to be considered my "neighborhood" liquor store but it is still a place that I frequent for many reasons. 1 - They have an extensive liquor selection and I love experimenting with different flavors, brands and exotic liquors so this is the place to find almost anything. 2 - They have more affordable prices for Manhattan. I hate the exorbitant prices by me and this place is perfect because I don't feel ripped off when I come here. Not sure this warrants a whole review, but this place is one of the few in the city that stocks local wines from the Long Island vineyards! After visiting Raphael Vineyards for a wedding over the summer and falling in love with a couple of their wines, I was hard pressed to find a place to stock up in the city. Luckily this place carries quite a few (Raphael, Pindar, Duck Walk, etc.). Otherwise I can't really comment. read more
