Located quite close to railway station, central market, theater, Luceros Square and other places of interest in Alicante. A short walk of 15 minutes from most places. Creative interior design. Wild colours, brooms, cleaning products' bottles and funny quotes on the walls. The bill was brought on a mousetrap. Drinks and beers were served in jars instead if glasses. The food was fine to my taste but a friend who claims he's an expert in Mexican food said it's nothing special. They have a display at entrance outside with photos of their "Instagram famous" visitors. If you have a lot of followers on Instagram, they will love it :) Visit if you are in Alicante. I probably won't be back anytime soon as I don't visit Alicante often. Polite staff, cards accepted.

Best thing I can say about this place is it was clean and very colorful.

The piña colada was a bit too strong, which kind of takes the taste off a bit, but the Cuba libre is prepared in front of you with enough rum to bring down a raging bull. While 5 plates of tapas are enough to feed a party of 5, I saw other main dishes being brought out and they could easily feed two people instead of one. And they looked tasty too! All in all, it's a good inexpensive place for some good food just on the beach.

Everything is so rich that what is said to be for one person is really enough for two!…read more My friend and I started with an order of the butter anchovies, which were surprisingly tasty! I'd never have thought to slather anchovies with butter, but here you have it. We continued with roasted artichokes, which were both tender and tasty. Then we shared half of the advertised "vaca nacional," or "state cow", presumably meat from a cow from Spain, which was more than enough for two people- unless you enjoy 500+ grams to yourself. Ordered "al punto" or "medium rare", it was served to perfection, and accompanied by a side salad and a side of one's choice (we chose fries). We washed it all down a local white wine, perhaps better paired with the anchovies, but nonetheless satisfying with the steak. Also, a "complimentary" bread plate, complete with aioli and tomato purée, was provided at an additional charge of €2.50 per person. While anticipated in Spain, I can't help but find this a tactless addition to otherwise nice meals. We finished our dinner with orders of the torrija (similar to French toast) and strawberry sorbet, respectively. My friend said the torrija was very good, and the sorbet hit the spot. My only complaint of the evening is that toward the end of our meal a male server came out as though he were the cook- it soon became apparent that he was not- and asked every table except for ours how their meal was, at which point I could not help but notice that at each of those tables sat a man, and the question was directed at them. I guess women should just be satisfied to have the freedom to dine out at all.

After years of traveling to and living part-time in Alicante have I found this place by…read morechance...and it's an instant best in the area! We came here for a surprise dinner party for a friend's birthday and we did not know how many people were going to show up or what the restaurant was like. First off, the restaurant is situated in a mostly residential area and was a 10 minute walk from the nearest tram station. When we got there it was like coming upon an oasis with it's beautiful terrace and almost militaristic organization of solid wooden tables and shiny cutlery. In the end approximately 25 people showed up for the surprise birthday party and we were seated amongst two extra large tables which had extended multiple times by the staff. The service throughout was professional and friendly. The food. Just about everything that flew out of the kitchen was spectacular! First we had some salads, one being fennel with parmigiano cheese and another being a garden salad which was made of vegetables grown by the restaurant itself. Both were delicious but the fennel with parmigiano cheese blew my mind; I never could have fathomed this combination and they executed it perfectly, cooking the fennel to a delicate but still substantive texture in order to pair with the bits of cheese. Wow! Steak tartar was cut small and spiced large, with what I think included smashed capers. The lady had grilled monkfish which was huge in taste and size, the best "rape" (monkfish in Spanish) she'd ever had. I had looks and tastes of the pork ribs, beef ribs, and chuleton, all of which were of a very high quality and mastered on a grill. Fries were above average. The Enrique Mendoza monastrell was an excellent local red to go with all the bold food. Small mistake- the ice cream, which was fine but not homemade or anything special. This place is a bit pricey. Simple dishes were in the 15-20 range, some meats and seafood in the 22-35 range, and some others in the 80-120 per kg range. Our share of the bill for 2, with appetizers, wine, beer, coffee, 2 entrees, and dessert was €70.

I have been coming to Alicante for over 50 years. I was born and bred in the U.S. (except for about…read more5 years as a child when I started school in Spain and later 2 years after college when I also lived there). My entire family on my father's side lives in Alicante and my best friend of over 30 years lives there and is a big time foodie. I only write all of this to convey that I don't have the taste of a tourist who might be enthralled with the restaurant displaying the glossy photo of a paella and the "made for the masses" fare (which is fine if that's your thing, not knocking it). I grew up on Spanish food and I know what the real thing is supposed to taste like. First of all, this is not a "paella" place. This restaurant makes "arroces" (rices) which, while still cooked in a traditional paella pan, is not paella. There are a few differences, but chief among them is the proteins involved and the thickness of the final dish. A paella is typically cooked such that the rice is about a pinky finger's width of thickness across the entirety of the pan (although lots of places will cook them thicker which is not really a good idea). The arroces are cooked so thin that the rice doesn't even cover the whole pan. In some areas of the pan the arroz is literally one grain of rice thick. If you're looking for an actual paella Alicantina, this is not the place (although you should come here anyway). The arroces here are cooked in the traditional way over open fire (that you can see from the restaurant's interior) using "sarmiento" which is wood made from grapevines. The arroces are cooked hot and fast. They have a fixed price menu which includes an arroz (there are several to choose from, I always get the very traditional rabbit and snail arroz), and lots of plates to share. Although you won't leave hungry, you can ask for extra helpings of everything at no extra cost. The share plates are as outstanding as the arroz and include huevos rotos, a cheese and charcuterie board, pimientos de píquillo, tomato with egg and tuna, ensaladilla rusa de atún as well as dessert and coffee. If someone in your party does not want the arroz part of the meal, they offer a few substitutions that can be swapped out at no extra cost (my buddy didn't want to brave eating the snails so he opted for a steak instead which he absolutely loved). Everything was outstanding. We had friends from the states with us on our last visit. Our trip started in Venice, then Amsterdam and then brought us to Spain on our last leg. We selected the best restaurants we could find in each location. Our friends opined that this meal was the best they had had in Europe. The only drawback is how agonizingly slow it is to get your bill (although we found this to be common everywhere we went). Spaniards, and Europeans in general, are not in a hurry to do much. Especially in the Mediterranean countries and especially at lunch time. So be sure to ask for your bill as soon as your dessert comes out or it'll be a little while. The bottom line: if you are looking for fantastic authentic arroces typical of this region of Spain paired with really good appetizer tapa plates, this is a great place
